Hi Ladies, I just had my local health nurse ring and check on the twins. And she asked me if I had weaned my twins yet?
I said no, why? She thinks that it's to hard to feed twins for any length of time. How long have the other mummy's of twins b-feed there babies for? I hope to be able to do for as long as me and the babies want to.
 Angela
My mum breastfed my twin brothers till they were 10 months old.

Y.M.'o'5 - you are such an inspiration! Good on ya!! I can't believe the stupid CHN  actually the sad thing is, I can believe that there are idiots like that.
In my old ABA group, one of the counsellors had BF her twins until they were around 2 yrs old. She had older kids too.
I can't understand the "it's too much work" argument. Surely it's more work to have to preapre, rinse, wash and sterilise bottles for 2 babies??
LOL apparently my mother has about 3-4 sets of twins in her family a few generations back and my Dad's father had twin sisters, and triplet uncles. :o
Wouldn't mind having multiples myself, we want a big family and it's taking forever, so having a few at once would solve a few problems there! LOL!

I don't think that the nurse should have said that, they usually encourage b-feeding for as long as possible.
You do what feels most comfortable for you. The longer you b-feed them the better.

That is so true. It's best for the babies and me. It also saves time and money. And I love feeding my babies too :hugs:
my aunty bf her twins for 5 mths. She was a special case though...that included three months of pumping and feeding while one was in hospital (the other came home after a couple of weeks), she was also expressing for another baby in NICU at the time, she fed them seperately (why I don't know) and due to their problems they had to be fed every three hours, took an hour each to feed, had to do one hour's worth of exercises on one of them that caused him a lot of pain and was very stressful (so this was a cycle that just never ended, feed, feed, exercise, feed, feed, exercise) and had a 13 month old at home to look after as well. The sick twin spent lots of time in hospitals in Sydney and so she was seperated from the other twin (my uncle had to work cause they were broke and my aunty couldn't and still can't drive so she was 2 1/2 hrs away) and it all became a bit much for her at 5 mths!

I have b/g twins who are 7 1/2 months old and I am still breastfeeding them both.I am planning on feeding until 12 months or longer. I breastfed their elder brother until he was 14 months old. I too use a breastfeeding pillow and find it very quick and easy to feed my twins.
