View Full Version : Gone off Vegies??

My DS has been having solids since he was a little over 5 months, he used to love any food given to him (as long as it wasn't too strong of a flavour!) especially his vegies! About 1 month ago I started offering him custards, fruit gels, yoghurt to his lunch time meal, and since then he won't eat anything but those foods for lunch or dinner, when I bring out his bowl of pureed vegies and meat for dinner he screams until I cave in and get him a can of custard/fruit gel/yoghurt, today I tried giving him vegies for lunch and the same thing happened. For brekkie he has his cereal with some pureed apple (which is the only 'good' meal for the day).
Has this happened to anyone else, will he grow out of it, or does anyone have some advise on how I can steer him back to vegies???
Thanks
no help here but maybe put the vegies in the old fruit gel jars he he he he wash them first and see what happenes it is probably a silly idea but it could work...
:D
Maybe try mixing apple or pear or something sweet with the vegetables. Sweetcorn may also work. Just to try and disguise the veges a little!
I had the same problem with DS.
I just started trying each individual vegie to try and find at least one he liked.
He ended up eating corn and peas which was good enough for me. At least it's something!!!
If they won't eat it, they won't eat it!
Hi Harmony83,
I too had this problem when I introduced "dessert" at around 71/2 months.
I found that blended red capsiums through the veges added a sweeter taste and was a good complement for sweet potato, pumkin etc. I gave only veges (mixed with capsicum) for lunch and dinner for around 3 days.
Everything was fine after that, fruit for lunch and veges & meat for dinner (only use capsicum sometimes now!).
Maybe you could also try mixing a bit of cereal through the veges to create a taste you know he likes?
Good Luck :)
Michelle
Babies naturally have a very sweet tooth ... breast milk is sweet and they love that!
Try adding fruit as suggested ... start with quite a bit and then gradually increase the proportion of veges to fruit ... this should work!
