View Full Version : Urine Infections!!
Hi Guys,
As a child I suffered alot from urine infections. When I first found out I was pregnant I had one and it was treated. I am now 23 weeks and after being sick with the damn flu for 4 weeks my urine has started to go brown again. Ahhhhhh. I am drinking so much water it's not funny and I have also started drinking cranberry juice which I have heard can stop bladder infections.
Does anyone else suffer from this aswell???? Is this normal???? I don't like taking antibiotics all the time but I know a bladder infection can cause problems with the uterus. :o

I used to get them quite a lot, can sympathise with you. Cranberry juice does help, especially if you drink it regularly. I hope it clears up quickly this time for you.
I have suffered with a lot of UTI's before I became pregnant (almost one a week), and instead of taking medication I just waited for them to go away.
BIG mistake! Somehow they have really weakened my pelvic floor muscles. I'm not sure if this is normal or if anyone else has experienced it, but if I had my time over I would have downed the cranberry juice, Ural and antibiotics as soon as it happened.
Peeing fire isnt nice :o

I have suffered from UTIs regularly over the past 2 years, but now take a cranberry tablet every night to prevent them. Cranberry tablets seem to keep them at bay if you remember to take them every night.
I'm now 37 weeks pregnant and have been taking them throughout my pregnancy to prevent the need for antibiotics, as I had countless scripts last year! There's nothing worse than getting UTIs all the time!
I did try Ural initially, but I'm a bit of a sook when it comes to disgusting tasting medicines/treatments! Since switching to cranberry tablets, I haven't had to touch the Ural luckily.
Good luck and I hope it all clears up.

Dark urine might not be a urinary tract infection.
It can be a sign that your liver is playing up, and it is not uncommon in pregnancy.
It's called Cholestasis, and you really should go to the GP and get checked. A simple urine test will indicate further tests are a good idea, or rule it out as a possibility.
