My DD is 23 months old. We took her dummy away (due to sleep issues) 1 week after christmas. She seems to have forgotten that. Since then we have had daytime nap battles and increasing difficulty getting to her bed at night despite regular routines and bedtimes. I am wondering if she is giving up her daytime sleep? My DS gave up his daytime sleep at 2 1/2 so I am thinking it is that. DD also wakes numerous times at night. I know the experts say that sleep promotes sleep, but I have also done some research and some say that if their is battles at bedtime and naptime then consider giving up daytime sleeps. I am just sick of the screaming everytime it is time for her nap. Has anyone else had their child give up a daytime sleep this young and how did it affect their nightime pattern?

Did I mention that I am majorly sleep-deprived at the moment so any sort of help would be great.

:hugs: Sleep deprivation is the pits, isn't it?
Have you tried letting her stay up during the day? Does it have any effect (good or bad) on her night time sleeping?
Perhaps instead of a nap, could you talk her into having "Rest Time" instead, where she has to stay quietly on a pillow/on her bed etc with a book for X amount of time.
If you don't get lucky and have her nod off anyway, at least you might at least get a little break yourself.
Good luck!!

I will try the rest-time thing, but it is so hard when DS is 4 and really doesn't want to rest!

Rats!
Umm... could DS sit on a big pillow too and listen to music or taped stories with headphones? Just trying to think of something exciting that would make a 4 year old boy want to sit still!

Thanks for the ideas, we are starting tomorrow. I am not going to give DD a sleep and see how she goes. At lot of the info I have read says to experiment with the rest/sleep/night sleep etc. and see what works best, so tomorrow is the start of it!
