My 17m/o talks non-stop but has a definite lisp. Is this normal in early talking ?
Should I try and correct it or just leave it be until he gets older ?

It is pretty cute though... :)

Hi there

My 2½ DS also talks with a lisp which is not too bad but definitely a lisp. I've spoken to a number of people about it and most of them said not to worry about it until his speech is more advanced. He too talks up a storm!

It could just be that he's having trouble with the sound. Each time our DS lisps we ensure he knows the correct pronunciation and we then let it go.

If I have more cause for concern though I'll take him to a speech pathologist.

I wouldn't worry too much at this stage. My brother had a lisp til he was in grade 2 then it went by itself. He always spoke quite fast and needed to learn to slow down a little bit when he was talking and that helped heaps.
My DS, aged 2.5yrs, also has a lisp...tho not all the time, just certain words.
We just make sure we pronounce everything properly and hopefully he will outgrow his lisp like my brother did.
DS also has trouble with some other words...he says nilk instead of milk...and his daycare teacher, Nerri he calls Merri :)

I was wondering the same thing with my ds. He is only 15months and you can really see him trying to get the pronounciation right.
It is pretty cute when he say 'yeth' though! ;)
