Hi Everyone:wave:

Just after some info on the private hospitals in Adelaide. I'm TTC (still waiting for that BFP) but like to think ahead !! I know I want to go private but as i've only been in adelaide a couple of years and don't have many friends with bubs i've not heard much about the private hospitals or obs. So just wondering if any of you SA mummy's care to share thoughts views of private hosptials or obs in SA. So far my first choice would be the Ashford followed by Flinders Private.

I have had a bubs at Ashford, my ob was Melissa Sandercock. And I couldn't recommend it enough. Melissa was fantastic and Ashford was great. Her practice partner Kay Wilson is also great.

I don't know much about Flinders Private. Other than that it has Foxtel in the delivery suites. One Dad I know thought that was a great idea, as a labouring mother I would not be so impressed. Imagine DH watching the cricket or something during labour - I don't think so!!!!!

Have you considered Burnside or Calvery?

Yeah I went to Burnside Hospital and wasn't overly impressed.............nice staff but a lot of things about my stay ticked me off. So I'll be checking out the North Eastern Hospital in Campbelltown for next time..............I've heard fantastic reports about it.

Good luck with your choice.

Hi, I had my bub in North Eastern Community Hospital in Campbeltown, they were absolutely fantastic! Most of the mums I know had they babies there and will go back for another one! All obs there are very nice, mine was Dr. Tamlin, but give them a ring well ahead as it's very difficult to get to see any of them as they are so popular! I called when I was 3 weeks preg after my test was positive. Good luck!

My SIL had both my nieces at Ashford and speaks very highly of her experiences there. They also have that program in conjunction with the Hilton now too - http://www.abc.net.au/tv/australiawide/stories/s1694959.htm

I have chosen Burnside and have had a friend recently have a C section there and didn't have any issues - she thought it was great.

I will report back hoepfully soon and let you know what its like... just counting the days til bubs is ready to come out!

There are some great Obs at the Attunga Medical Centre too next to Burside if you are thinking of reasearching... I can PM you the name of my Ob who is WONDERFUL, she delivers at Burnside and Calvery.

Good luck TTC :fingerscrossed:

My ob was Dr. Neil Tamlin from the North Eastern Hospital in Campbelltown. He's a very sweet man and I highly reccommend him:thumbsup: Apparently you have to book early with him because he's quite popular. I booked at 6 weeks although the first appointment isn't until 11 weeks. He delivered my DD at the Womens & Childrens Hospital (long story:rolleyes: ) and although I've heard fantastic reports about the North Eastern, I was extremely impressed with the WCH:thumbsup:

All the best with TTC:fingerscrossed:

Hi. I also had Dr Tamlin (yes books out quickly), and delivered at North Eastern Community Hospital.

I couldn't recommend NECH highly enough. The staff and the support they give were absolutely fantastic - I will definitely be going back there if and when the next ones comes along.

I have visited friends in other private hospitals in Adelaide, and felt that it was a little lacking in comparison to NECH. (But now, I am totally biased towards them - so perhaps a little unfair to judge).

Good luck !

I had my bub at Ashford with Dr Linda McKendrick as my Ob. She was great as was the hospital. Linda has her rooms at the back of the hospital which was very convenient (for me anyway).

My hospital stay was great from the room through to the staff. I will go there again next time. Linda was great, very straight down the line type of person and I will have her again as my Ob and would trust her no hesitation with managing any problems if they arose (happily I had none).

I also know two others who had babies at Calvary who said they had good experiences there.

Hi Sissi - Yes Dr Tamlin is good  - unfortunatley he wasn't present for the birth of DD. My labour was quite quick, and we arrived at the hospital at 12:45 am, and by the time the hospital called him, she had arrived at 1:25 am! He arrived about 5 mins after she came out - I was considering asking for a refund on his fees  LOL (just kidding).

I had my bub at Flinders Private, it was wonderful and I will definately go there with my next.
Unfortunately I had to have emergency c/s (reaction to induction gels) so I never got to the delivery suite, but my stay afterwards was fantastic, I literally did not want to go home. The midwives were wonderful, very attentive and helpful as I had issues with breastfeeding but was determined to do so and they were so supportive. My ob was Chris Verco, he is fantastic and an added bonus is he doesn't charge any gap!
Also, the food was amazing :D

I had both my girls at Womens and Childrens Hospital as a private patient. Had my own room both times, my doc was Basil Antonas, he is fantastic.

I had my ds at Calvary with Melissa Sandercock (elective c-section). The hospital was great with amply parking for family and visitors. Melissa is wonderful.
:smiliedance:

Melissa has now moved rooms from North Adeliade to Ashford which isn't quite as convenient but I'm going to her again anyway.

She practices at Womens' and Childrens', Ashford and Calvary and I am still undecided about where to go for No2 (due September). Probalby Ashford or Calvary again. I'd love to go through Ashford and go to the Hilton. My sister was one of the first to go through this program and absolutately loved it. She had full run of the facilities at the hotel and her husband and dd spent a lot of time in the pool and gym.:)

another huge fan of Dr Neil Tamilin here and of the north eastern community hosoital a huge thumbs up from me they were so supportive I have had huge dramas with breast feeding my first 2 children and I started showing signs of the same things happening and decided to chat to the midwifes tehy were supportive of me 100% either way I went and I chose to bottle feed and not once did I feel judged or picked on for it, Neil was also very supportive of any decission I made he is jsut wonderful and very sweet I kind of feel like he is my hero atm seem though I only had my DD 7 weeks ago I am still on a high from my experiance with him, and the hospital,

I had DS at flinders public 6 years ago too Anjelickaren we may have been there at the same time LOL now wouldnt that be amazing, and I really hated it so much I left as quick as I came in with in 24 hrs after his birth, but have heard good things about it too and also about the private hossy.
