Hi
I was wondering for you guys that combine money with your partner, after bills, food, savings etc. Do you and your partner get a seperate amount of money each a week (allowance)???
We never have but we are going to start doing it to give it a try and make it a bit easier to budget.

I suppose I give my hub an allowance, (a bit of change incase he wants to buy a drink after work) only cause he's not as good as saving as me. I don't need an allowance coz i don't buy myself anything.

We have an entertainment account and we use that weekly if we want to go out for dinner or if I have lunch with someone, dvds etc. But it actually doesn't end up getting used that much and we keep saving more money. It's a good idea coz if you decide to put in a couple of hundred a week and you don't do anything u end up oversaving (does that make sense). And you can go on holidays etc. in no time.

Works for us!

Nope, and we don't have a budget either. The cash comes in, we pay the bills, and spend the rest here and there... it goes... the next pay comes in... etc.
We do save some each fortnight, but other than that the rest is just there for whoever wants to spend it... (or if we have an electricity bill, we don't really :D have spending money)

Works for us!

We have come up with a budget which starts next month (even though bubs isn't here yet :) ) I'll get an allowance of $150 a week. I think having an allowance is a good idea. That way you have your own money after the bills, food ect are paid you can do with it what you want.

I think it's really important to have an allowance each. All our money goes into a joint account and bills and mortgage are automatically paid from that. Leftovers are divided between the two of us. It's fair and we never argue about money because the rules are clear. Good luck!

my husband and I do. We have $50 a week each, and that is for if we want have lunch out (instead of taking it from home), if we go to the movies, take out for dinner or anything like that. I think it is really important to, well for us anyway, or else we would just keep spending all of our money and never save anything!

No - we don't but we do have a budget of where money goes each week and we each have our own regular non essesstial spending so we sort of do but not in the way of a set allocated amount.

We are pretty frugal and 'spare' money pretty much goes straight on our homeloan.

We have a budget and try to stick to it as much as possible. Hubbie does get $20 a week for lunches and if he spends all of it in two days he has to either make his own lunch or take leftovers.

 We have a strict budget, and we're really good at following it! :yelclap: We're trying to save for a deposit, so we have to be strong... Both DH & I have $50 each a week to spend on whatever we like. DH normally gets beer  and I buy coffee's and get my hair done, or spend it on cloth nappies

Yep we have an allowance each week, built into our budget.. But it's for things just for us, not DD money to spend on her is seperate... It works well and most weeks we have money left over, which we put in a jar and when its full take to the bank and put towards our honeymoon spending money.

Yep, we get $200 pf each for spending money. We have 'fortnight' money go into a separate account to cover groceries, fuel, going out to dinner and anything else that you pay for fortnightly. The rest of the money goes into our mortgage offset account and the bills are paid from there. We monitor overall net position each fortnight to make sure that we don't go backwards.

Nope, never anything left by the end of the week. but if there was, I'd rather put it into the home loan than spend it.

We use a creditcard each month to pay for all bills and groceries etc (it has a low limit though). I pay it out in full each month so we don't pay any interest. We have one of those line of credit home loans so I leave the income in there until the CC payment is due, which reduces the interest on the loan.

We each have a weekly allowance of $50 cash, but lately DH has been buying grog on the CC

yes we 'give' ourselves $100 a week. Generally for all the usual stuff ( hair / makeup / coffee and beer / bait and fishing gear )
I do all the budgeting / paying bills so it is easier this way.
I work part time but earn a fulltime salary ( got to love shift work ) but even if i was at home i would need that extra money in my own bank account so that i didnt feel that i needed to 'ask' for it.

Within our budget we have given ourselves our own 'fun money' to spend, we get $100 a week, I spend mine on lunches and coffee with my girlfriend and clothes for myself. We use other mney to buy for DD, so it's all for us. I don't know what DH spends his on, but I don't really care either. It's his to do what he wants with.

Nope, we share the money on bills, mortgage etc.....When I want to spend money I do and so does my hubby.....We dont go out and splerge or anything, but occasionally we buy for ourselves something that we need....He has his sport and I have my crafts and activities etc and most of all the money gets spent on the kids....
