Ok, I tried a few hours ago but Im thinking maybe I didn't get responses 'cos of the title so I will try again!
After Natasha's thread it got me thinking...
I would love to hear why YOU chose to have a c-section? How much research did you do? If any? Was it based on medical reasons? Pain reasons?
As a young woman not far off giving birth I am really keen to hear other peoples reasons. :)

I had mine for medical reasons. I had placenta praevia and Sam was breech across the top of the placenta. He couldn't get out until the placenta was out, and that just wasn't gonna happen with a good outcome unless I had the caesar.
I just thank God that I had had the scans and knew that we had this problem.

Definietly
The first time i didn't have a choice due to heart complications. Second time, I chose to have my dd c-section because although my heart was better, i was afraid it might fail being under to much stress in labour and just wasn't prepared to take the risk.

I wanted a c section simply because I didnt want to go thorugh labour and squeeze a baby out of me. Judge me all you want (people usually do anyway). I dont care if its 'the most natural thing in the world'.
It just wasnt for me. Yes if there were no c sections I wouldnt have caused a fuss about having a vaginal birth. But seeing as though that option was available to me, I took it.
I didnt do any research, dont ask me why, I just didnt. Knowing what I do now, Im glad I didnt research it. I dont want to know what could go wrong. I went in blind and thats exactly how I liked it.
Was the only option for me, vaginal birth just wasnt an option, so why scare myself with facts and figures and listen to people try and persuade me not to have a c section.
Hope that answers your question.

To the ladies who have replied -
How did you find bonding with your baby? I hear lots of stories of women who don't bond or can't breastfeed I was wondering how you found it? The most common thing I have heard is they couldn't bond because they didn't feel like they had bought it into the world -so to speak.
Also, did you have problems with an epidural? I saw on a show last night a lady who had one and her whole body shook for hours. What we're your experiences?

I bonded perfectly with my DD. No problems at all. BF straight away. I guess maybe some women who have emergency c sections feel like they have let themselves down because it wasnt what they wanted, they wanted a vaginal birth and feel their bodies let them down somehow. With me, I wanted my c section. And i do feel like I brought her into the world, whatever way she came out, she came out of ME. I gave her life. (well, God did, but yanno what i mean). So I dont feel in any way that I didnt bring her into the world. Im also sure i could have birthed vaginally, i just chose not to put my body through that.
I had a spinal, not an epidural, and had no problems with that either. No after effects at all. No problems with it going in, no shakes, headahces or anything.

I had some reflux as the epidural took effect, but I get reflux anyway. Once they gave me antacid it was gone within seconds.
I had shivers/shakes, but they didn't last long.
No trouble bonding or breastfeeding.
I did get an epidural headache though and that gave me trouble for a couple of days until they did the blood patch.
No probs bonding either and breast fed straight away. Was up and going the next day, and had a pretty good recovery. Depends on your fitness and age i suppose.

I dont know about that - I am incredibly unfit and managed to get up and out of bed within a few hours.

I chose to have a c/s with my DS because of complications that arose when giving birth to my daughter. (induced, posterior, decent size, 3rd degree tear) i was scared into it and my son was apparently breech and HUGE! I asked a few people who had c/s how they went and all said fine, no problems, up within a couple of hours?! As far as research goes... i wish i had found bub hub thats for sure.

I didnt bond with my DS for quite some time. I was in recovery for 4 hours. Had the shakes for about 8 hours. Was given ALOT of pain relief and was hallucinating. I did hold my son as soon as he was born for about 5 mins then for a total of 15 mins for the next 3 days. Was just way to out of it. The bonding issue has nothing to do with...as you say ..."not bringing my son into the world" . I DID give birth - just not from my vagina. :D
The epidural took 6 goes to get in. By then i was ready to A) rip his head off or B) just get up and leave. As i said before i had the shakes quite bad. If i knew what i know now... i would have had a VB. (and not the alcoholic kind) ;)

lol, I like your humour... Yes that sounds horrible for you :hugs: I was originally (6 months ago) saying I was having either an epidural or a c-sec. But after really looking into it. ie. hearing other womans stories I decided I will give a VB a go. It is probably more painful but it seems like a quicker, easier recovery is more likely. Well Im sure hoping so seeings as I am trying for a natural birth!

MY C/S was so much more painful than my VB. Mind you i said after my VB that i would NEVER have any more children  But either way you do whats best for your and your bub
Good luck with whatever you decide
i second everything natasha said!

I'm having a VBAC this time around as I had the worst experience with a c-sect I was totally unprepared and always thought I was going to have a natural birth to be told 1/2 an hour before i had my baby that I was being cut open. I didn't even get to see her totally nekked until the next day and it was only for a few seconds. They pulled her out of me and showed her to me and all I saw was a blur (I'm totally blind without my glasses) and when they passed her onto me she was wrapped and clothed. I didn't get to count her fingers and toes till the next day.
I have no problems with ppl having c-sections but I just don't want to have another one.

neither of my boys bf. ds1 had low muscle tone predominantly in face muscles and ds2 has tracheomalacia so it had nothing to do with the c/section. i bonded better with ds2 than ds1 and ds1 i went thru alot of the labour with. i just think i was in a better time in my life to have this baby plus i knew wat to expect.
oh plus i had the spinal not epidural
