I need some advice on my pet rats (rat)
I had 2 male (brothers) rats and one of them just died :crying:
I was just wondering if anyone knows if rats are happy being alone or should i get another rat to keep him company.
I'm just worried cause they were both 4 years old (i know they only usually ive for about 3 years) and if i get a new one and then the old one dies of old age, i will have to get another one for the new one (if you get me)..
Just wondering if anyone can help me??

I've heard they should be kept in pairs. They are very social creatures.

Sorry for your loss. Pet rats are delightful! I had 2 ages ago, but they died a few years back.

...4 years is a long time for a rat, and it might be worth waiting before getting another, just for your concern.

Although, if you like rats, I wouldn't see the problem with getting a new one, for the new if the old one goes... I'm kind of over all that... when you can't tell the sex they breed ..... like rabbits :p

Thanks so much for your advice guys, I woke up this morning and the second rat (whiskey) had died :crying: :( :crying: .
At least they are together again...

Does anyone know of a way to bury animals without the dogs digging them up :( . I know it sounds nasty but thats whats happening here and i cant deal with it happening again..its very upsetting...

Oh honey :crying: :( :hugs:

I can't help with the dog situation though - perhaps you can plant a tree or flower over the top?

Hi,
I would suggest burying them int he front yard as dosg love to dig up dead pets, our new dog dug up our old dog once it was very distressing. The other option is putting them in a pot plant then you can take it if you ever leave the house. Sorry about your loss.

another idea is: my mum put a layer of cement over the hole where the dead pets were so no dog or person can dig them up
