Just wondering how old your kids were when toilet training was finally a success...

Thanks

ETA: It's multiple choice as I am sure a lot of us have more than one child

DD was 2.5 yrs (after christmas 2005 - i didn't try before then, as it was too cold), and was pretty much night dry from day dot. I was amazed it was so easy....but maybe DD2 will make up for it when her time comes!

DS1 and DS2 were fully toilet trained by the age of 2, both night and day nappies.

DD1 was fully toilet trained just after turning 3. She has learning/development delays as well.

and as we all know DD2 is still in nappies :p

 I don't believe that at all. It really depends on the individual child and/or parent(s).

I heard it was the other way around.... boys take longer.... :detective:

This poll might give us some light on the issue :fingerscrossed:

Jacob was 3yrs and 3mths. He wasn't at all ready for it, but when they are too big for the bigest disposable nappies you can find..........you've gotta do something!!

Brooke was 3yrs 1mth. She told us one day she didn't want nappies anymore and that was it.

Matthew was 2yrs 7mths. I just left him naked and he worked it out himself.

I voted 3 yrs+ for my boy - although he isn't 3 until march, and he is mostly toilet trained. He does ALL poo's in the toilet but sometimes wee's his pants if he is busy or just too lazy. Still wear pull-ups at night though. So I wouldn't say he is fully TT'd but he's really close.

My DS3, turns 3 today, he hasnt worn a nappy for the past 3 days except at bedtime & we have only had one accident:smiliedance: I tried TT twice previously & he just wasnt ready.....then a few days ago, its like all of a sudden something has clicked & he just got it, I am soooo happy:yelclap:
I definately believe that you shouldnt do it until THEY are really ready.

im' starting to think that DD just isnt ready yet, or do we have to give it longer than 24 hours? but by reading all the posts that say "it just happened when they were ready" and "it was easier than i thought it would be" i'm thinking it should be easier, and that maybe i'm trying to rush her...oh y don't they come with a manual???

Hi

My DD started doing wees in the toilet the week she turned 3. She started doing poos in the toilet when she was 3 1/2 and thats when we go rid of the night nappies too.

I think the biggest thing is dont feel pressured by your friends/family or society into thinking you HAVE to have your little one TT by a certain age, all my friends kids are TT & when I first tried DS3 with TT I was doing it because I felt under pressure to have him TT....Well he just wasnt ready, he didnt comprehend it at all, he didnt even know when he was doing a wee, he didnt care if he wet himself & I would put him on the potty for a while & nothing would happen then 5 mins later he would pee himself.
Now that he is finally ready, he can hold onto it & as soon as he goes on the potty he does a wee & knows he is doing it....Its all about their brains getting that connection & being aware of their bodies.

thanks guys, i've put her back into a nappy thismorning, i got her up and her last night nappy was so full, but i sat her onthe potty as usual (been doing this for about a month now) still nothing, so i put knickers on her and within half an hour she wet them, so i just though stuff it, i'm waiting for a few months until she's ready i'm not going to force it on her and make a big deal out of it, by the time kids reach school age who's to know when they were TT? so thanks guys for helping me make this decision, seeing that ur littlies took their time puts my mind to ease. it's so hard having ur first b4 all ur other friends have kids, there's no one to ask about this stuff, i guess that's what BH is here for!

Ella is 3 and is day toilet trained but she still wears a nappy at night and i'm not going to push her. some nights she's dry and others she'll be soaked. When she's ready she wont need one at night and thats fine by me!

Ronan is 2.5 years and for about 2 weeks I have had him in training pants for about 3 hours each day, with no luck at all. I went to try again the other day and he told me "no more toilet" and so I've backed off thinking that he's had enough for now and isn't ready.

Looking at the age most boys are tt'd, I'm not as concerned now as I was before!

Rachel isn't toilet trained. However, since she's 3 yrs and 4 months, this didn't stop me voting in the poll!
