Hi, i have just registered and am not good on the computer. I was wndering if there are any women out their in their 40's who are having or wanting/trying to have a child? We are 42 and 43 and our children are 25, 21 and 18 left home and I want another baby. My husband said whatever I want he is happy with and we have an appointment at an IVF clinic on Thursday. I live in country NSW and I dont know of anyone in this situation. I am just worried a little person my not like having older parents. Please someone give me some feed back. I have my final exam for uni on Monday and have not been able to think of anything except adding to our family. Hope someone can advise. Bye Emmaline.

Hi Emmaline,
I dont really know what you are going through as I am only 24, but I know that 42 is definitely not old, and when I was attending antenatal classes before my first was born, most of the other couples were mid 30s to early 40s. One lady was 46 or 7 and having "her first", so if you have already had three, and obviously want another one, all I can say is "go for it", and your baby will probably be the most spoiled of all your children as it will have your older kids to cherish and adore it too.
Dont let age worry you, as they say "age is just a number" and if you feel that you need to have another child to love, then do it.
I personally cannot wait for my kids to move out and for me to have my life back... hehe that sounds funny coming from someone who has a one year old and is pregnant again :D but honestly once it happens (ie they both move out), I will probably be in the same situation as you and wouldnt hesitate based on age, health yes, age no.
So good luck with your exam on Monday, and I hope to see a pic of bubs in around a year!!!
Good luck :)
Hi Emmaline and welcome
I'm 30, so my own stories can't help, but I have a friend who is (I think) 46 and has recently had her second IVF baby, her first came at (I think) 43. She is one of the most fantastic mothers I have ever met and she has a great relationship with her kids.
I hope it all goes well for you.

Hi Emmeline - i am not an older mum but my mum was. She was 41 when she had me(i was the last of 7). She concieved naturally. I have a great relationship with her. She is one of my best friends and she has been living with us for a couple of months now. My dad died in march and it was the least i could do until she gets on her feet again.
Good luck with ttc!

Hi, I am a first time mother at the ago of 40. My lovely girl took a few years to appear on the scene. I do not feel too old at all, in fact, while I am obviously a lot more tired, in other ways, she has taken years off me.
There is room for all shapes, sizes and ages of parents.
best of luck to you.
