Hi all

New to the forum and I am currently in Melbourne but will be moving to South of Brisbane in February 2006.

I am 33 and have a son Anthony, who is 2 (& a bit), my husband is moving for work reasons. I have no family and friends (yet) in Brisi. I am an Engineer but will be finishing up work to try for a second baby (great career move).

I would love to get some advice re: Brisbane on suburbs to rent/buy a house, schools, playgroups, toy libraries, etc.., Possible areas: Mt Gravatt, Carindale, Coorparoo, Camphill, Carina and Carina Heights.

Can anyone help?

Regards

Hi

I have lived in Mt Gravatt for about 20 years and have enjoyed living there. I live near a very large shopping centre Garden City, which is just great for shopping.

But anyway have a look on realestate.com.au and you will be able to get some ideas on what the houses are like up here and how much for, you can also look up on there about houses for rent.

Good luck in finding a place. Hubby and I have just bought a house out at Munruben on an acre block and are looking forward to moving away from suburbia for awhile.

Hi Mandymoo

Thanks for the insight as a local. I stayed in Robertson for a week last month for a short holiday and checked out the surrounding areas. Mt Gravatt is lovely. Garden City is quite a big place and has a nice library. Do you know of any playgroups, kindagartens, or child friendly activity centres nearby?

In the meantime I have been checking the realestate websites (including your suggestion). It is sometimes a bit overwhelming to see something on the net but find it is nothing like the actual house/land. We had a great long list with us during our visit and only a few was exactly as described.

Are there any flat areas in Brisbane's south? I was staggered at how many steep hills there are...on a more postive note, great 360 deg views! What is the deal with no footpaths (most suburbs)...it was so hard pushing a stroller around?

Where is Muruben? An acre sounds like great runaround space for your little one. Goodluck with it all.

Thanks again.
