Hi All.

Did anyone see the Episode of Foreign Correspondent on Monday?

My DH was absolutely beside himself at the story about the hospital system in India, how the rich get to go in and have operations using government beds whilst the poor keep getting turned away.

The story that upset him was about a boy who was born with part of his intestine outside his body. Apparently its quite a simple operation but the Dr's keep turning him away and he is now 6yo!

Beaurocracy wins out again.

I forgot to add that DH was so upset he emailed teh show and demanded that something be done for this little boy even if it meant raising the money himself.

The Journo finally responded yesterday and said that he had been inundated with similar emails from people and that they will organise for the boy to have the op, probably by bringing him to Aus.

A Happy ending to a sad tale, but what about ll the others that weren't on the show?

I can't watch much on TV in my pregnant state, I get upset very easily. I haven't seen Foreign Correspondent in a while but the stories are always eye openers, often heart wrenching... and one has to wonder why they aren't part of mainstream news bulletins..really... it's a concern for all of us! I'm an Amnesty supporter.. They have their fingers in so many pies and I'm more than happy to give to them. Let us know if there is a fund set up soon so we can donate.
