Hi Everyone,

My DD is just over 15mths and she has tonsillitis at the moment. She has had really high fevers which now seem to have dropped and she is on some medicine for her throat.

She hasn't really eaten anything since Wednesday though, she takes a spoonful of food and then her throat must hurt so she then refuses to take anymore. She is still drinking water which is good but I am worried she has had so little food in 3 days. :(

Does anyone know of any foods that might sooth her throat a little. I have even tried water ice blocks and she only has a little of this even...

Any ideas????

Thanks
Paula

Hi Paula,

Sorry to hear that Grace is sick, it is hard sitting back and watching them be miserable. I found that when Ainsley had a throat infection she didn't want to eat either, which is how we feel when we are sick as well. However, she seemed to be able to manage some custard and yoghurt and also really mushed up fruit like banana, pawpaw and pears.

Hope she feels better soon!

Susan.

I would try giving her everything cold - yoghurt, jelly, etc. You could even make your own jelly (there's a recipe on another thread) with your own fresh squeezed juice so at least you know she's getting some nutrition.
Don't worry too much about her not eating, I'm sure she'll recover soon and will be eating you out of house and home!

Yes I agree with what the other girls have suggested.

Its hard I know but when she gets better her appetite will return.

Big hugs to both you and Grace :)

aw hon :) hugs to you and DD!!!

I dont have tonsils anymore - drs took them out - but I remember being in so much pain that all I wanted to do is suck on ice cubes...

keep her fluids up... try a few different fluids (mum used to chill lucozade till it was icy... figuring it was better to have a glucose drink than water all the time ) I didn't want ANY solids... I think the most solid thing I DID eat was soup...

I really hope she is better soon

((hugs))
