Hi there
Just wondering if anyone would be keen into getting together with the kids and having a bit of a xmas party for the kids and parents of course?

we could have a bbq and a santa ( i dont mind doing it or any volunteers would be great (might be santas helper more than santa).

everyone could bring a small gift of a certain dollar value and put the gift into a sack to be given out later.

I live on the Southside, Mount Gravatt East but am open to location ideas or any other suggestions for an xmas party,. I am on holiday in NZ from the 13th of Dec-31st Dec so if we could organise an early one say late November or first week of Dec???

let me know if you interested!!
private email also is odiam@bigpond.net.au

thanks :o :p :o

Thanks Veve, glad to hear your in as well! got any suggestions on a place? we just did southbank, but I happy to go again if its easy for everyone. really need somewhere which has bbq's, park and playground.
Wynum foreshore? too far for people? Roma street park? then maybe some northsiders might come? throw me some ideas.

Hi cluck cluck,
The Wynnum foreshore sounds lovely - there's that great little water park there too for busybubs like Elizabeth to paddle around in. Southbank was lovely too, and we all know how to get there now. I would have loved to visit the water park at Seventeen Mile Rocks, but the BCC have closed it due to water restrictions. As far as dates go, I can't do anything between 30/11 and 4/12, but other days are fine....I'm happy to fit in with whatever everyone else wants.

roma street sounds good - there is lots of shade.. and it is easy to get there by public transport for those who need the train???

Just sticking my nose in to tell you that they have closed the water park at Wynnum too - for the same reasons. Shame - the kids loved it!

Great Idea Claire! Roma St sounds good, I rather go somewhere I can find easily and catch the train to! Any time is good for me except the Sat 26th Nov so, if we can set a date soon then I'll try to be there!Probably sooner rather than later by the sounds of other peoples plans, things are getting busy!!!

BTW Thursday mornings arent too flash for me either as thats our swimming day and we already had to miss one class to make it to Southbank!! So any day apart form that pretty pleeease?

Maybe one day between Mon 5th Dec - Mon 12th Dec then, hopefully bubs will be here and that is also avoiding times when Claire and Nickster are away. Hope fully one of those days will suit everybody!!! What ya's reckon?

that week could be good- school doesn't finish till the 9th - so there wont be too many kids around...

That sounds great, my girls will both be at school

Is it okay if I come 'childless'. I may feel a little left out but don't worry I tend to talk underwater with a mouth full of marbles so will soon make friends.

Hi guys
I wanted to come to southbank, but have been having trouble with Jake sleeping, so when he fell asleep i wasnt going to disturb him.

I think that Roma st is a great idea. Me and Jake will be there. Any time is good for us.

See you all there ;)

LOL

sure- come childless!!! .. I went to the crazy critters meet (at an indoor childrens playcentre) with no kids.. obviously pregnant... - the lady on the door gave me a weird look - but I had fun :D

besides - it will give you a chance to relax :)

Bummer that Wynumm doesnt have water anymore! i didnt think about the water restrictions!
ok so so far it sounds like Roma street park unless anyone comes in with any other suggestions.

ok how about the 6th of december which is a Tuesday? or the weds dec 7th?
im thinking the tuesday may be a better time as schools will be breaking up at the end of that week and may have activities at the park etc towards the later end of the week.
unless anyone wanted a weekend day?

would we say a time of about 10.30/11am? and meet at the playground area, as there are bbq facilities nearby if anyone wants them. There is also train rides-"the jelly bean express"! :p

JuileXavier we should use the balloon idea you had to identify who we are!

Dollar value on gifts for kids for santa sack? how about we each buy a little gift for our own kids and label them and put them in the santa sack wrapped and named, but still have a dollar value say between $10-$20? that way we all know that our own kids gifts would be gender and age appropiate. (saves alot of unwanted gifts and tears!)

ok ill wait to see if this day and time suits you all and if it does ill post a new thread saying "xmas party roma street" as this may attract more people than just saying southside!

if anyone wants a map or train times etc of roma street you can go to www.romastreetparkland.qld.gov.au

6/12 or 7/12 suit me fine. I like the idea of buying pressies for our own kids - very cunning, cluck cluck! No tears, no tanties.
Looking forward to seeing y'all again, and the gals that couldn't find us last time too - please come, don't be put off by the "Southbank fiasco"!! :)

Hi

I would love to meet up for a Christmas Party ... I was just thinking about doing the same thing ... I live across the road from a large park with great swings and play stuff if that would help. There is a small BBQ there, but maybe someone would a portable BBQ they could bring?

hi everyone
sorry hadnt checked the email all weekend!
yeah! looks like a good response so far, lets make it the 6th of December at Roma street park as its central for people catching transport and has alot of activity for people with toddlers.
if we get anyone with toddlers we could organise a lolly scramble or xmas games or something? see how we go.

Im going to make a new thread now with new heading of ROMA STREET XMAS PARTY and see if we can attract some other mums who wouldnt usually look at a southside meet maybe. Anyway, im babbling out loud now so, ill keep tracking this thread and the new one and look forward to meeting up with you all on the 6th of dec. HO HO HO!

PS let me know if you pull out or cant make it as ill look rather silly in a santas hat on my own!
if anyone has any ideas to jazz up the day please feel free also!
