Naughty Puppy!!!!

Can someone offer any advise!!!!!

My little puppies, who are nearly 4 months old seem to like to eat cow and roo dung!!!!! We live on a property and its impossible for them not to get in contact with it... they eat it like nothing!!!:eek:

I feed them plenty of food... i can't understand why they do this...

With morning sickness its hard enough not wanting to :barf: but when i see them do this it makes me feel very ill

They have plenty of toys etc....

Any help would be appreciated...

I have the same problem with my puppy diging up cat poo :barf: . It makes their breath REALLY bad...Its really gross...I dont know what to do about it either...he has never been sick so i dont know if its bad for them..i do know they grow out of it but.

Just be thankful it's only poo from grass eaters! Cat poo is gross!
I don't think there's much you can do about it. Even if you stop them when you are there, they will always do it when you're not. Mine are always eating wallaby poo unfortunately.:rolleyes:

Put a little Tobasco sauce or pepper on the poo. It will deter them from eating it again. They eat poo as it's yummy for them but when they get a taste of the hot sauce or sniff the pepper it won't be so nice so they won't eat it again. You may have to do it a couple of times but it works! Don't worry it won't harm them. :thumbsup:

Hi,
most dogs do grow out of this behaviour but some dont they do tend to prefer to eat the faeces of other species cat poo is always a favourite, you can try tobasco or pepper but being on a big property they may just keep going until they find one without it, just know it does them no harm and it is a normal behaviour, occasionally it is due to an inadequate diet but generally not

Please dont do this we did this and our dog ended up in doggy hospital for a week because she ate it and it burnt the inside of her stomach and she wouldnt eat for a week and it was very scary we thought we were going to lose her.
while i am sure this doesnt happen all the time i would never wish that on anyone else's pet/s

I too dont agree with putting hot stuff on - it doesnt deter them and damages the lining in throat/stomachs!

Ours used to do the same (we lived on a large property) they also ate the leftovers when the horses were shod!

You just have to discipline them - rolled up newspaper for noise - smack the paper over your leg and a very firm NO - push them away if you can too - it works - i trained many a working dog and non working dog and it always worked!
