AD-sounds like a great birthday!
As for nappies, I was advised to have 2 dozen, that allows for a wash every 2 days for newies I think, and every 3 days when they're a little older.
The amount of covers would depend on what type of covers you chose.

LL- Wow! You did get spoilt!! Makes me wish i was having one!
AD- So glad you had a lovely birthday..sounds like you were spoilt as well!!
Cant remeber who said they saw Epic movie?? I saw the preview when i was there to see Pursuit of happyness and that looks like the stupidest movie ever!!! Bet it was funny though!
I get so worried when i think about strep B and all those other things that could go wrong...need to put all that to the back of my mind otherwise I will start to panic! Already scared Roxy will have down syndrome as i didnt get the nuchal trans done....:(
I swear once you become a parent (or parent to be) you have this endless list of fears for your child ..
Well im going to go try and sleep even though it is still hot!!

oh my gosh it is so hot in perth again today, my feet look like blowfish!
talking about being cranky lately, i've stopped answering my phone for fear of offending people, no one can seem to understand anything about me at the moment, and i cant help but talk my mind, so have pi$$ed a few people off, so avoidance is my weapon this week, hope it works:fingerscrossed:
for the perth girls - woolworths have the big boxes of nappies for $29.99 from tomorrow, i just saw the catalogue.
AD78 - good going with the CHAIR!
my indigestion turned into an overnight hospital stay as it wasnt indigestion it was a partially collapsed lung
jazzysmum - love your new avatar! you look gorgeous!
annsam - thanks for reminder of food and drink for hubbie!
shezi - have a talk to your man before bub number 3 comes along, maybe he just needs to be told?
LL - envious of you and your baby shower - good for you for getting lots of pressies!
i'm on weekly OB appointments now, only 4.5 weeks to go.....have been warned to look out for a ceasar as bubs head is already 34cm diameter - ouch.
oooh it's now lightening and thundering, I hope thats rain coming??

Jaimie - Wow!1 Your tummy looks gorgeous in your avatar! So perfectly rounded!! Hope you manage to get some sleep!
AD - I have one of those glider chairs on layby but DP doesnt want me to get it.. says its a waste of money.. So i got him to sit in it the other day! He sat there for a fair while lol... Might have to ask him bout it again soon!
Well the weather here in Perth is absolutely nuts! It is still really warm and muggy outside but to top it off we have a bloody thunder storm and rain!! I mean, WHAT THE!?
When Amity heard the thunder she got a little bit scared so from then every time we heard it we 'growled' back at the sky like a tiger... She seems ok now lol!
ETA: Firsttime - Lol my feet are like blowfish too! Oh, and i also saw that the nappies are on special at woolies! I know where I will be going tomoro!! (bulk buy i say!) Where abouts in Perth are you?? Metro?
Ouch!! Bubs must have a lot of brains in there lol!

Wow! I love Aunts, I am looking forward to finding out what mine has in mind too, not because it will be big (like you, it's just a bonus if it is) but because she always manages to amaze me with her thoughtfulness and generosity! When we eloped she turned up with a gorgeous photo album- noone else would be game to buy something so personal ('cept parents) but she got it spot on!

Collapsed lung??? I hope you're OK now matey, that sounds horrible!
I sure hope that you can make it without the ceasar, just wondering, how are they measuring the head?

Well, there was a thread on male lactation, tell him to get that underway, and maybe you wont need a comfy chair after all hey? And he'll be so comfy he'll practically jump out of bed for all the night waking! :p ha ha, hope he sees sense!
That is so cute, growling at the thunder! I can picture it too, lol!
Off topic, but very upset to hear this evening that a girl I know who is past dates (only by 6 days, so not too bad yet for her first) was told by her midwives to drink 3 tablespoons of castor oil to bring on labour! Poor thing got very sick (luckily the baby was fine) got the runs for ages, and no labour. Silly women, lucky the baby didn't get sick
Another off topic, after a day of dancing and kickboxing (Bubble, not me, lol), tonight I suddenly felt sooo nauseous, enough for me to have a little teary about it, then sudden urge to go to the toilet. Half an hour later and I feel fine though. Bubble is going berzerk in there, hiccoughing (above my belly button) and kicking and twisting like a mad thing. Is this just normal preg loveliness would you think?
Oh and LL, that sounds like an absolutely awesome baby shower! The time capsule is a wonderful idea, very thoughtful friends you have
Sarah! Tell your DH: "Not happy Jan!!!"
You'll go blind getting up to date if you're not back soon, and you're missing the awards, and I had my first meet, and someone was asking about "funhalers"... tut tut

bluegin - thanks for your thoughts, they measure the head with the ultrasound, measure the tummy too and work out an estimated foetal weight. My baby is 2500grams at 35 weeks, which i think is normal. It's just got a big head. :D

oh and dp has been told.. many times actually.. i was just having a cr@p day today.. this heat is really getting to me.. i had planned on getting out and about with the kids but he didnt want to go.. so that got canned.. just a sh!t day.. i've accepted this is the way it is. i like doing things my way anyhow..
i forgot who asked if he'd ever taken them for the day but the answer is no. if i go out they're with me.. we're kinda joined at the hip hehe. but that suits us both, he'd go insane and i'd miss them too much.

Ouch! I missed that bit of your post! I know exactly how you feel! I had a hole in my lung when i was 15 which caused it to collapse... The medical term for it is a pneumothorax (sp). Hurt like hell! My entire left lung was collapsed so made it very hard and painful to breath...
I hope you are feeling better now though! Make sure you just take it easy. Wouldnt want it to happen again! :hugs:
My SIL is organising my baby shower. We are having it on 18th February! I cant wait! She has thought up some great ideas!

Ah, I had thought maybe by squishing in to your tummy (like they do at appointments) but yours sounds more accurate, lol. Sounds like a nice healthy bub though, which must be reassuring.

Ah, they can seem pretty bl@@dy annoying at the end of a tough day, he he, I know the feeling! It sucks when they wont go out when you want though, that is the main reason I'd get in to a stink too, when I'm all ready and he'd rather laze around... grr. Ah well, they are a loveable mix of annoyances, lol.

Definitely some good Mummy instincts there, and better for all when she's older and you're not there to hold her hand when these things happen!

thanx girls for dealing with my whinge.. i actually thought maybe he had already looked up what i'd written coz he actually put D to sleep tonight! i was in shock.. not overly impressed though coz i was in the shower so didnt get to give her a goodnight cuddle but i wont complain coz it saved me sitting by her cot for 45minutes!
firsttime my bub was measured as 2.2kg at 34weeks and they're estimating another 7lb5oz bub for me.. same as my older two.. works out to be around 3.3kg. M was 3320 and D was 3342.. even their head size was only a cm apart. M was 35cm & D was 34cm hehe. they freaked me out with D though.. said she had a big head.. not nice when you're in labour & fully aware that the 'big head' has to come out
did you get a 3D scan? would love to see pics :D
lana get the chair.. ignore sam. they are the best things ever!
i got chris to take the cot apart today and i took the change table apart and its all in mums car.. she's going to take it back for me after work.. she finishes just after lunch.. i just hope they do take it back though.. no receipt or boxes.. i think im pushing my luck. although mum bought it via VISA so it'll be in her statements if they decide to be pr!cks. im gonna ring them anyway in the morning and let them know whats happening.. oh and the cot i was going to swap it for is sold out in white and only available in dark brown which looks cute also but bubs drawers are white so its a no go.
 bluegin i saw that thread about funhalers and thought sarah would be the best person to help there!!
thats terrible about the girl being told to drink castor oil. YUK!(not that i know what it tastes like.. and theres no way i wanna find out!) i cant believe midwives told her to do that! normally girls get told off if middies find out!
as for your bub i'd say its normal.. bub is running out of room fairly quickly now.. its horrible when you feel yuk though hey.. i get hot flushes constantly.. felt like a was going to faint at the shops the other day.. seems to happen more when im in long checkout queues.. perfect timing!

shezi - i didnt have a 3d scan, just the one in the Ob's rooms which i get to see every week now...i would never pick an OB without a machine after this experience - i am addicted to seeing my baby!
ouch Elmo for your lung problem, i dont think mine is that bad. I just freaked out when i had to have a radiation injection to have the nuclear scan, thought it would hurt my baby....and staying overnight in the labour ward is weird when the baby isnt out yet....
also Elmo - do you think you are leaving it a bit late for your baby shower? i too think maybe Griffin will be at his own shower!
thankyou to whoever gave us the weather website the other day - i am now obsessed with it and just found out that at 1135pm it is 31.3 degrees in Perth. No wonder my veins are bulging and my toes look like little frankfurter sausages!
Shezi if Toys r us give you grief maybe mention that a friend had same problem and took hers back to Morley, we did have our receipt though. I think it was the assistant manager we dealt with (maybe your friend), and he was excellent.
So Shezi what was your baby's head size at your 3d scan?
I want a glider chair but will probably be settling for an Ikea Poang - has anyone tried the Poang?

We were going to organise it for a bit earlier but it just crept up on us! Plus we figured we needed to give ppl some time warning lol...
:fingerscrossed: he doesnt come when i think he will then... because if my prediction is right, he will be coming within the next 2 weeks!! (somehow i doubt it though...)
Shezi - goodluck with exchanging the goods tomoro! Hopefully they are helpful!

hey girls, gee lucky i'm awake to catch up on all of the posts before 2 pages turn into 4!!
firsttime, my bubs head was 31cm at 34 week scan and weight approx 2.4kg. Hmm 35cm is big isnt it  DS was 36cm when he was born and weighed 3.462kg. (7lb 9) I think I will get an 8lb this time!.
Shezi I hope they take it back no problems, I dont see why they wouldnt especially when your mum paid for it via visa.
I agree get the glider.... we are getting one but wish we bought it the first time.
Oh I was keen to bring on labour once overdue but not that keen... there was no way I was going to try castor oil!! yuck, I just did everything else so I wasnt induced and it worked eventually, 6 days over!
Well I know there was lots more to say but I'm going to try and sleep now

Hey girls,
Sorry to hear of the suffering your perth girlies are doing! How horrendous. Im so glad Sydney hasn't been that bad this year yet. We've had our hot days but nothing thats lasted more than 2 or 3 days at a time. I feel for you.
General - Is it true that two theatre staff, have to hold the spinal block for a c/s??? That scares the sh!t out of me, how big is the needle?
AD, they use spinal blocks or epidurals. Ive never seen a spinal block done but have seen epidurals however I believe they are the same thing just inserted into a different part of the vertibra. Anyhow...... to answer your question, no they dont hold it. They tape it. The needles are incredibly thin - like cotton if not thinner and very flexible and they attach into a thin tube which is attached to the drip. Is that what you wanted to know?
How many cloth nappies will i need? How many times approx will they need changing per day? Im just using the flat terry towelling for at home.
Newborns poop alot! I remember gonig through up to 12 disposables a day with Sam as a new bubba. Thank goodness that doesn't last long. Couldn't tell you re cloth though. Id imagine about the same amount a day so about 2 dozen with washing??

OMG!!!! Thats one of the biggest no-nos nowdays. Not only does it make mummy very sick but if she can hold it down, its been proven to cause foetal distress and cause the bub to pass merconium. Sounds like its time these midwives did some brushing up on current research and practices.
LL, sounds like a great few days away.
Jaimie, love your new avatar! Its beautiful!
AD, glad you had nice birthday.
LL, glad you had a good baby shower.
Thanks for the tips on the roast crackling - it was the best crackling Ive ever made!
hey wheres caithi nowdays? and sarah?
Well...... Ive been a bit concerned about my little lass. She isn't moving much the past 48 hrs and when she does move its only slight. I was going to give my friend back her doppler the other day because I haven't used it but it came in handy this morning when I started having all these awful thoughts about cords around its neck etc going through my head. Heart beat is fine though so I guess shes just being lazy.
Ok, need to paint part of my wall. Have a good day girls.

Gee, I stayed online till midnight, I think I'd also need to be up by 6 to keep up to date with this thread! :p
Firsttime, I am getting the Poang too! One for beside the bed (though I sure hope I can feed lying down) and one for the lounge. I've never fed before, but they are just so comfy!
Anna, yes, I was thinking that passing meconium would be a huge risk!
Caithi seems to be AWOL, not sure why (maybe still catching up!) surely though Sarah will be back soon!
Thanks Shezi, I guess the baby must have been pressing on the spew button, lol, hopefully it steers clear of it for a while! I didn't realise Chris read all the posts, that's a crack up, I guess it means he read the one about being my type of guy :o... that was actually only intended for you to read! lol, I'll be more careful ;)
My stretchies are really sore lately, DH should be bringing home some vitamin E capsules (if he remembers...) which I hope helps.
Sounds like a shocking night in Perth, I wonder how many people woke in the night to hear the neighbours sneaking in to use their pools :p

Yep, you should be able to expect a bit of personal space, be it here or wherever... everyone needs a place where they can just let it all out. I'm sure I'm different on this site because I am totally free of others perceptions of me, and I'm also sure I exaggerate stuff and make dramas out of nothing just because sometimes venting is healthy. Maybe once he "gets" that it's not really about him as such (a bit more like an interactive -and chatty- personal diary?) he'll calm down a bit?
I did want DH to join the site, but I changed my mind, easier to relax without him here reading and responding (and we'd have debates every 5 minutes I'm sure :p ;))
:hugs:, :fingerscrossed: today will be better, you'll get your nursery furniture sorted, the girls will be dreams, and he'll put D to bed again (after giving you a cuddle!).

Carrie, lol, I wonder what shape your tummy will be by tonight hey?
Hope to see you on here tonight with your prepaid!
BG - she was quiet last night & didn't morph much at all! Lol.
Didn't get the internet yesterday as we were at my parent's place but thought I'd go to the Optus World near them but they're not open on a Sunday. You'd think they'd all be the same wouldn't you?! DH is going down after work to get it tho! Computer set up on new / old (it was my parent's old one) computer desk on wheels so I can wheel it into the spare room if I like and I can have it out in the living area instead of the hot stuffy back room which is the 'office' aka junk room. Should be on tonight! :fingerscrossed:
Evening girls...hope it hasn't been too hot for you all (who am I kidding it's stinkin' hot!) My sister slept over last night so while Dh was working today, We both went to the shops to escape the heat. Had some lunch and saw 'Epic Movie' I knew it was going to be stupid and it didn't disappoint my expectations
DH & I saw Epic Movie on Friday morning - I wanted to see the Holiday but he refused so only one we could agree on and we both thought it was stupid too. Lol ...
So where do i start LOL....
Carrie, i too experianced the belly morphing last night, i dont know what he was doing in there, but i was expecting my tummy to split and have him pop out and say hey mum! Very freaky feeling isn't it, still makes me jump.
Or i put my hand on my belly where i can feel a firm spot (whatever that may be LOL) and he pushes against my hand, i did it a few times last night and everytime he pushed back.. smart little man.
How exactly can you tell what is what, as in body parts? Im trying to figure it out, but i wouldnt have a clue:confused: . I know hands as they are a lighter tickly feeling but the rest has me miffed.
The only body part I can identify is EllaBella's head - when I have been sitting for a while (which I always am) I get up & it feels like a bowling ball rolling from side to side on my bladder!!! Haha

PS Started washing EB's clothes yesterday - have only done white & pink loads & still sh!tloads to go! Managed to find a washing detergent that's for sensitive & baby skin & it smells fantastic! I also packed some stuff in my little suitcase. I didn't actually need many clothes. I'm gonna have the labour bag & small suitcase now since my suitcase will go to my room & labour bag come with me in birthing suite. Mum was laughing that we need to bring lollies & cd's! :D
I think I am definitely 'nesting' now - I was out Sat & just couldn't wait to get back to clean out the 'office' room as I felt so disgusting! Lol

Shezi, if you want some computer privacy, you can set up Internet Explorer or Netscape / Firefox so it doesn't record history or anything in search feilds.
I have set Netscape up like this so that if the Frog (or me) wants to do some private stuff, we can do what ever we like whithout the other person knowing.
I have nothing to hide from him but it's nice to do somethings in private sometimes.
LL.. my DP makes fun of Bubhub too, although less lately. I said it was just the equivalent of him going on body building web sites.
I would never write anything about my DP in an email, text or web site that would make him feel awful so It woouldn't bother me if he read anything of mine.
Annsam.. perhaps your little girl is just being lazy.
Toadlet is hyperactive I think. he/she' wiggles and moves for about 15 minutes aleast every hour now.
back to getting soem work done.. slowly getting through it.. I hope toadlet doesnt come too soon as I need to get a big web site finished first.
Friday is Day 1 of the "Festival of Bzzz". Going out for din dins with DP for his birthday.

I think i should leave this page open, 3 pages wow! LOL - Good Morning All.
Now these replys may not be in order, coz as you know its hard to remember everything you just read.
Annsam - I wouldn't worry to much about ur little ones movements, my middy said (and i have read) that the bigger your baby gets the less room it has to move(obviously), so they tend to wriggle, instead of kick, punch, dance. I have been told that they also have sleep patterns (including REM sleep from 30 weeks) and that 10 movements, within a 2 hour period is normal. Hope that helps.
Thank you for answering my epi/spinal block question thats exactly what i wanted to know.
Glad your crackling came out well. - YUM!
Elmo - After sitting in my glider chair, and falling asleep in it LOL, i think you should get one. I cant wait to sit in it with my little man in my arms, drifting off to sleep. Ahhh bliss. Having said that i dont think i would of purchased one myself, just because i cant justify/afford spending that amount of money. But if you can afford, then i say go for it!
Firsttime - Im glad your ok now, take it easy, we dont want you in hospital again (only to give birth!!) :hugs: .
LL - Im so jealous that you get to see your little bub every appointment. :D
Caithi and Sarah - Where are you? Hope your both ok.
General - Castor Oil, ewwwwwwww i have tasted that **** once, never again.. no wonder the poor girl was sick.
Me - Well last night i made an effort to go to bed by 11pm, even rememberd to grab the Mylanta out the fridge(just incase, due to the other nights), no heartburn/reflux last night. Noooo instead i wake up with my right calve in absaloutley excruciating pain... yep mega cramp, i balled my eyes out, Poor Dp, whats wrong, whats wrong.. me blubbering f'ing cramp, he starts to rub my foot.... im like not my f'ing foot my calve muscle. (Poor Dp) So he rubbed it, and felt a bit better. Still sore now though - weird!
This morning i went to Safeway(woolworths), and :smiliedance: they had the box of 108 huggies newborn for $29, so grabbed a box of those. I also grabbed some milk, and managed to injure myself on the fridge... yep safeway fridges are dangerous LOL! As i pulled the milk from the top shelf i managed to scrap a big chunk off skin of my thumb on the top of the door opening. OUCH!
Anyone else noticed that they get stared at a lot?? I notice when i go shopping now, women in particular stare at me and/or look me up and down... makes me feel very self concious.
Im also growing out of my maternity tops (as in length doesnt cover my belly all the way down now.. arrrgh).
Im sure i have missed some stuff... sorry!! Im also sure there will be another few posts now aswell LOL...
Morning Ladies!
Sounds like so much has been happening, I must come on more over the weekends.
Shezi, thanks for the reply about the curtains, I checked out the baby road website and noticed I can order them online. One more quick question are they called 'drapes' for $74.95? There was no pic, so just checking if that's ok.
Firsttime, hope you are feeling better now. Must of been very scary for you, hope everything goes well for the rest of your pregnancy now :hugs:
L/L - glad you enjoyed your baby shower, the gifts sound wonderful! Wish I could have a baby shower - no thanks to my nasty MIL I had to cancel it
Have to go read through some more posts to catch up....

PS Started washing EB's clothes yesterday - have only done white & pink loads & still sh!tloads to go! Managed to find a washing detergent that's for sensitive & baby skin & it smells fantastic!

I've washed all bubs blankets, wraps, washers, sheets and stuff like that but I want to wait a little closer to him being born before I wash his clothes (don't know why lol). What detergent did you manage to get that smells nice?? I bought one that just smells so so.
As for nesting, even though my place is tidy there are still things that could be done, but it's to damn hot and I can barely bend over so my nesting has flown out the window.

Hmm, I would have thought that's where you'd buy them too. You could try baby shops but that will be a pain if you want to get them all the time...so much easier getting them with the shopping.

Carrie, was it the Amolin detergent? I've heard good things about that one. I'll probably get it to do all the pre-baby washing, just in case Bubble is allergic to my normal stuff, and then I guess I can wash one or two things in the normal and watch for a reaction (would hate to have it get all red and sore and have washed everything in the wrong stuff  )
I really should get nesting...
LT, are you planning on getting a cleaner for just a one-time whirlwind? Or looking in to getting one to come in regularly? I think either way it sounds like a great idea
Hey Girls,
I have washed all of Madi's clothes, blankets etc and used Lux - which is for baby clothes and delicates, smells so good - the newborn baby smell. It is expensive, but well worth it as it is good for sensitive skin, it looks like soap flakes and needs to be dilluted down in warm water first.
I have been cleaning around the office all morning - feels very weird, considering it's not my job at all, I just can't help myself - hehe.
A/D - I have no idea where to get nappy liners from, maybe try a baby store or google it....

It is a liquid one and it is in a blue bottle with a baby on the front - I think it is called Amo-lin or something like that. It's not very exy either.
I sorted all the sheets etc to be washed as well but started with the clothes in case she came early! Lol ...

I'm pretty sure mum used Chux cloths for nappy liners? Maybe that was just in the old days though.
I have my babyshower on this Sunday. I can't wait! My grandma has organised it through Life Baby & they organise the games etc and they have a catalogue ppl order from. Some ppl aren't though. I felt a bit guilty but they have nice stuff & I'll get what I need.
I tried to book my Pure Indulgence Christmas Treat package I got for christmas today which has a foot treatment, signature facial & back scrub & said I was pregnant (like the lady told me to say when I booked it) and she said she can't do 2 out of the 3 treatments in the package cos of the massage on my feet and face can trigger labour on those pressure points. Mum rang the manager at Chermside she booked it through and complained and the manager was nice and I can go into Carindale (she was gonna ring & speak to the girl I spoke to) and she can give me a list of treatments I can have whilst pregnant (she said I can have signature facial btw!) & I can decide what I want to do. The whole idea was to have it now because it expires in June and I wouldn't be able to leave a newborn baby for 3 hours. I was looking fwd to doing it on this Sat though! The other thing is, cos I really wanted the foot treatment, see if I can still have that and have 2 other treatments now which i can have during pregnancy and have the foot treatment after she's born as it'd only be about 30 mins and mum said she'll come with me to Carindale and push Ella round the shops in the pram for 30 mins while I'm in there. She was all excited!!!

Ppl are commenting I am carrying small now and now I am hoping that at my scan I don't find out I am actually not due til April or something. At 21 wk scan they checked the dates as he said since I fell pregnant after only being off the pill for a month they can't take the dates as being accurate and thought EB was small then & thought she may be due on 4 April (I liked the sound of that cos my fave no is 4 so 04/04 - plus my b'day's in April so good month!) and I am worried he is gonna say the dates have gone back to that. :fingerscrossed: they haven't as I couldn't wait any longer to meet her!!!

Aquadevil: I bought Johnson & Johnson nappy liners from priceline. They work out about 8c each.. although they are quite large I reckon you could cut them in half and they would still be big enough.
You can also do a search on flushable nappy liners. the biodegradable nes work out about 11cents each..
Or you can buy some fleece from a fabric store and use those and wash them.

Bluegin: Do a once off whirlwinnd. our place isn't too dirty and we clean once a week together. I'm just too lazy to do the big nest clean.
For washing toadlets clothes and blakets I just used about 1/3 the nnormal amount of Radiant.
I have everything ready.. just waiting on one more thing being ordered in.

Sounds like a shocking night in Perth, I wonder how many people woke in the night to hear the neighbours sneaking in to use their pools :p
I am going to drag Sam to Ikea today to have a look at the Poang i think!
Lol, and trust me, if my neighbours had a pool i would be jumping the fence! (they would be too scared to come out and tell me off! )

Yip Im the same. DH likes the fact I have other women to moan to about the joys of pregnancy but I'd hate him to read anything I write. Dont know why - just seems silly.
LT, yip shes just being lazy. Having a few quiet days. I had a big glass of ice water before and she moved a fair bit but I think shes turned so her legs are at the back and Im not feeling her so much which hopefully means shes no longer in a posterior position. :fingerscrossed:
Eenees sell flushable nappy liners in packs of 500 but they are really hard - kinda like butchers paper I thought.
Nesting? Im painting the walls. Starting doing a bit that had to be fixed and have gone around the house doing touch ups. Must go do my third coat. Then its the vacuuming, putting toys away and getting stuck in to the bubs room if I have the energy. DH is taking the day off today to help around the hosue with maintenance stuff.
Oh, TMI but I had this HUGE bit of mucous before. Hope its not the plug coming out already. Im just not ready for an early bub!!! I haven't even gotten the bassinet out of the attic yet. :o

Sounds like a great appointment Shezi, and your Ob sounds just lovely. Amazing, as you say, to know that there is now a maximum time (and only 6 weeks!) till little A (still A yeah?) is here! I think the cutoff is 8 weeks 2 days for me.
Lana, it's the Sniglar cot, and it is the only one I've seen yet which is just bare basics plain fine wood... so I am all grumpy and refusing to look at others :o  I will however chuck a spaz at DH tonight, as his friend works there and I've been asking him for ages to sort it out.
I always thought I'd go early with this baby, but I'm starting to think maybe not, as I've not had any of the pains and things you girls get. I do however really hope it isn't more than a week over, as DH's leave starts on the 12th, and he only has 2 weeks total! (Maximum of 3 if he really pushes it) so if I end up being induced, it will mean him only being home for 5 days!

Its the group b strep test that some do. Yours may not.
Out of interest, why are some of you letting yoru Obs dictate when you will be induced? Its your choice not theirs. There is no greater risk in being induced at 7 days as there is at 14. Its purely for their convenience so they can fit more patients on their books without too many women expecting at the same time. Sorry. Pet gripe. :o

When do they start internals also?
Just booked Pure Indulgence for Saturday afternoon! They refuse to do any massage whatsoever on pregnant women so I changed the signature facial to a Skin Radiance Facial as it doesn't have the massage and it's light and having my back scrub as no massage or its not on the pressure points. I can save my foot treatment til after bubs is born (she said I could change it to a manicure or pedi without massage and costs less but I really wanted this treatment, that was the whole point) and because the facial i'm getting is cheaper than the signature one I will have $7 credit so will save that for the day I get the foot treatment done and I can use it on waxing and tints and services like that so that'll be good.

M2B - i got the safe n sound guardian with canopy. It was $399 at Target, but i got it when it was on sale for $319.
Have no idea if its good, but hope so.
That's great you both got the same seat, will do some more research and see what I find. All I know is that I really want a Safe N Sound car seat, just not sure which one!! Thanks Ladies
Anna, I just assumed the OB was correct and selected the 'overdue induction' date. Will talk to him about that tonight and see what he says - I really just want her to come when she's ready, just so I can get organised too - Thanks
Shezi, that's great you can return it - hopefully the other one is on sale for you soon!

Thanks M2B, I do hope he can be home to muck in and get some bonding going! (And take care of ME! :D) I also don't really relish the thought of him having a whole 2 weeks off work pre-baby- I know that probably sounds horrible, but we'd end up just hanging around the house I think, and he isn't all that good at taking care of things like his own lunch when he's home...
Yay Shezi! So glad to hear you got that credit! Much nicer to be able to get what you want now. We had planned for it to be straight in the cot ("it" was mentioned in another thread, so a quick disclaimer- I do love my little Bubble, just happens to come out it ;)) so it is a bit sucky!
I went through the SIDS website yesterday to make some decisions on such stuff, it's a scary world outside the womb! Good to have all the info though, forewarned is forearmed and all that!
White spots in front of the eyes: Yep, me too, a bit before preg too. I think mine is to do with my low blood pressure, but I've heard the opposite it true too so always worth a check
As for the 7 days over, 10 days over stuff... I know of 2 birth centres who take it to 2 weeks (14 days), they take day 10 as the day to choose a plan of action, maybe stretch and sweep if you like. As Anna said, it really is up to you though, so I wouldn't let them push you either way.

M2B, to be honest, by 7 days you'll probably want her out  . As I said, its just my pet gripe. If its what women want then fine but the fact that they aren't told they have a choice before being subjected to the potential risks of induction if its not what they want..... it just kinda gets me. :o

all of you seeing dots just keep an eye on it coz that can be a sign of high blood pressure & gestational diabetes.. maybe its more so if you're dizzy and blurred vision.. hmm now im confusing myself! hehe. anna help :o
I don't have high or low BP so maybe mine has something to do with the GD. I'll ask at my next Ob's appointment.

I hear you big time, I am luck DH has his own buisness so he will be on holidays from when I am in labour (if I can get him away from work - hehe). Otherwise I would have to be looking after him with lunches too etc.

I would be so lost without you Anna, you have such a valuable wealth of knowledge!! It's so true that OB's don't tell us otherwise, I thought it was just the norm.

I get the white spots too sometimes... I was always told that they can appear before you get a migraine/headache... thats usually when i get them anyway.

Sam and I were talking last night bout how long he will have off when bub is due and he seems to think that he will only be able to get 1 week off!! He seems to think that work will fire him if he asks for anymore. (Sam is still an apprentice until the 16th March so he is contracted to the company he is working for at the moment)
Well we didnt get to ikea today, might just wait til tomoro now..
I have that roast in the slow cooker today... god it smells good! Do i need to turn it at all???

i just hope the weather isnt too hot when bub is born, i wanna get straight back into walking once she's out.. the weight fell off me after M but it took a bit longer after D. i just really wanna get fit. im looking at about 20kg i wanna lose.. i was 61kg pre preg(still carried 4kg from the 17 i gained with D) and im a little over 70 now but wanna get back to early 50's.. wish me luck! lol
oh havent put on any weight since my last appt! hooray!! must be all the sweating ive been doing in this heat.. my body probably thinks its running marathons lol.
lana i have no idea if you're meant to turn the roast.. is it meant to be crispy on the top? if yes then i wouldnt turn it.. if it doesnt matter i probably would..

Afternoon ladies
As DH can stay at the hospital with me, he will work during the days, stay with me there at night (& have his 1 free meal per day!) and he will take a week off when I come home. Work wants him to put in exact dates but that's so gay - what if i'm a week late?!

Hi Girls, I haven't been on for a while and have just gotten thru all your chatting.
Jazz - what a great photo!!! You look gorgeous!
Who was talking about the car seat recently? We have the platinum retratactor one you mentioned and it is fantastic . We only got Ryan out of it this year after he turned 3 and it still looks like brand new. Is very cosy and comfy for bub and we did LOTS of driving between Brisbane and Sydney right from when he was just 8 weeks old.
Elmo - mmmm pork roast, yum! Hope it was as good as we all imagined.
I have also had the white spots - only once and it was quite scary really but hasn't happened again so maybe I was dehydrated too at the time.
Bubs seems to be doing really well. Lots of movement and I am feeling quite huge! Dh said it looks as if I have a basket ball under my shirt! Gotta love him.
Taking a mid-point between my original due date and my scan date I have only 4 weeks to go . I wish I was even half as organised as you girls all seem to be. I have got to get my butt into gear or this little one is going to arrive and have nothing to wear and nowhere to sleep! Dh joked today that is seems as if this supposed "nesting instinct" seems to be bypassing me again. Oops :o. Oh well - I am going to tell work that I am finishing up at the end of next week so I have a couple of weeks to prepare myself so maybe then I can get stuck into it all. (hope its not too late).

Annasam, what does this mean? Is it just the ligaments stretching?
Probably just ligaments especially in a first time mummy. These last few weeks are the biggest growth so it stands to reason that lots of stretching is going on and lots of weight is being put on your poor ligaments. If you are worried give your Doc a call and get it checked out. See if you can relieve it with a heatpack or hot water bottle perhaps.
Ok off to bed.

i agree  definately easier on the money after you have a bub.. even easier for me i guess coz Mikaelah went into a single bed (she was in a toddler bed which still takes a cot mattress and obviously all the bedding) so i already had everything for Danielah & bubs room. no matter what you have though there are always things to buy.. i like for the bub to have new things too.
i think im going to buy a nappy wrapper bin the new tommee tippee one.. purple & white.. anyone have one??(lana did you get one?? i was going to go to baby road but thought may as well save the 15 in petrol and use my voucher for baby on a budget near me.. i get 10% off so it'll be $72 i guess.. evens out hehe) i had the yellow one for M & D and it was good while they were little but then the pieces started to fall into the bucket.. i think thats why this new design has come out.. i know theres other ones available but i think this one would go best in her nursery.. hehe. silly reason to buy it but im all for 'cuteness'
lana chris asked when we get my belly back haha. i said not till after bub is born so we know her name. anyway he thinks we already know her name and spelling.. wish he'd tell me  hehe. he quite likes Aalivyah-Lee Hope. im the indecisive one!
where is Mrs Miggins?! im sure i've seen her around!
carrie wasnt me talking about the period pain..(i do get it but dont remember mentioning it) i dont think.. unless ive forgotten hehe. but i got it with D from 35 or 36weeks and was already 2.5cms dialated at 38weeks! my main thing with this bub is when i go to the loo and empty my bladder she seems to go really low and it almost hurts.. its a weird feeling like a chinese burn/pinching/squishing feeling really low.
something completely off topic.. on the news earlier they had a thing about daylight savings in perth.. its meant to be a 3 yr trial then we get to vote on whether it stays or goes.. well 75% of people want the vote this year! haha im with them! bugger daylight savings.. ofcourse the politicians are saying 8weeks isnt enough time to adapt.. thing is i dont want to adapt.. my girls will not go to bed when the sun is up.. cant say i blame them either!
did i ever tell yous that i found out the cause of danielahs allergic reactions? it is dogs! we thought maybe it was but werent 100%.. anyway its definately them.. and since swimming at mums every arvo lately all it takes is for one of their dogs to touch her with their noses and it sets her off.. she rashes up within a minute then tiny blister looking bites appear.. so thats when we have to leave.. coz we get her in the shower and it calms down but if we leave her it just spreads.. i dont know what it is about dogs that effect her though and its not just mums(we thought maybe the shampoo they used on them) but my sisters dog set her off and so did our other neighbours.. it just seems like a skin reaction coz she doesnt scratch it or seem unwell.. weird! i hope she outgrows it.

Lol! Tell me when you guys have decided on the spelling! I will have to get my mum to put her name on coz i suck at 'pretty' writing lol!
As for what to tell the kiddies when they eventually ask where bub comes out, i will just be telling Amity the truth.. I figure that if she is old enough to ask then she is old enough to know! Plus it saves having to try and explain the real way later lol!
I just emailed my belly pic to LT! When you look at it dont mind the strip of sunburn under my top. Sam put my suncream on and missed the top of my bather bottoms and under the strap of my top!

Im with you Shezi on daylight savings. Always had it. Never seen the point.
Dogs huh? Not easy to manage but at least you found the source.
Mum2Ryan, not sure about what to tell him. I guess Id tell a polished version of the truth but dont really have to consider the reality as sam has no idea what a vagina is yet and his english aint good enough for me to understand if he did ask. I thought babies came out belly buttons when I was young.
DH is concerning me. He is calling bubs by her name - Leah but hes pronouncing it Lay-ah which I hate so if he keeps doing that Im gonna have to change her name. :(
Sam woke at 4am wanting to come and get him milo. Managed to convince him it was still night time then we couldn't get back to sleep ourselves.

Just had a missed call on my mobile from Midwives place, i was half aleep when it rang so didnt pick it ip, tried calling back but she is with someone, so waiting for her to call back... a little anxious now, i assume it has something to do with the Ultra Sound results i had last week  , although if it was bad i would of assumed they would call last week, or whatever.. but still i hate it when they call. Ryan is going well and seems to be looking forward to his baby coming out of mummy's tummy. Thankfully he hasn't asked how it gets out (yet). Does anyone have any ideas on how to answer that one when it comes?
Ruby has watched about three episodes of "From here to Maternity" which is on Channel W on a Sunday night. Its hosted by Antonia Kidman and shows alot but not that much if you know what I mean. She has loved watching it and is now an expert telling everyone how Mummy is having a baby, see you go to the hospital and a doctor comes and gets its out! I dont think she has any concept of how it comes out but she understands a bit of the process. She seems fine with the idea of me going away for a few days as you get to come home with a baby.
She is so funny everytime a lady has given birth in the show she has been soooo excited and enthralled and keeps asking when I am going to the hosp to get our baby out. LOL!! She's the same age as Ryan so maybe he would also like the show?

"Little Rodent" LOL !!! Poor Ruby was called the Gromit by dh for the whole preg as well as for about 6 mths after!!! and Tilly has somehow always been called "Squishy" !! The worst thing is Tilly now answers to that and we all call her it incl Ruby!!!
Well I just sat down with my work partner last week and did a plan and it looks like I am going to work up to the 18th and then have the baby on the 19th so no time off for me this time. Though for the last two babies I was working full time up until a few days before they arrived and now I am only working part time so in the scheme of things I'm not worried about working that long. LT are you going to be working right up to the birth as well ?
By the way if your climbing friends think you look like a cow they should be lucky its not my huge a** they are lowering!! You are still so compact and fit I probably couldnt even get the harness through one leg let alone still do what you are doing!! By the way have you got a baby harness for Toadlet yet?:p

Hey has anyone here ever had a phone problem in that it rings but no one is ever there? I dont mean prank calls, more like ghost calls if that makes sense, no background noise, no breathing no nothing... starting to freak me out a bit!
Just had another one then.
Its a new number as we moved as ya know, and only family and people like midwives, centrelink have new number.. and there not frequent enough to be prank calls. My phone also has caller id/register and none of these calls register as being recieved/missed - very weird!

OMG! R&T's Mum - wow you sure must have energy to work right up til the day before your c/section. That's amazing!!
A/D, hope it's all good news when the middie phones you back. Never had the problem with the phone before, maybe call Telstra and find out what is going on - maybe crossed lines etc...
Had my OB appointment last night, and little Madi is doing very well, she is head down bum up and her spine is too my left now - she was previously to my right. She is already measuring in at 4 pounds - do you think that is big considering I am only 31 wks & 4 days??

Tilly has somehow always been called "Squishy" !! p
That's funny, that' is what DP calls my bum!!
LT are you going to be working right up to the birth as well ?
I have two parts to my buisness.. web design and building calculators. I am cutting out the web design cause i hate it! Plus need to spend time with the toadlet. I will have to keep running my calculator business which isn't too time consuming setting up new clients. Occasionally I have to do custom built ones which takes a while and I'm just tryng to get a big back end upgrade completed before Toadlet.
So before now and "the big download" I have two web site's I need to get completed and finish the upgrade.. plus anything else that comes along.
By the way have you got a baby harness for Toadlet yet?
I'm getting a little baby chair /rocker to take toadlet with me on days when Frog is at the gym and can't do babysitting duties. I could put him/her in a baby pouch and just clip it to a rope and let toadlet dangle.
When it's about 2.5 - 3 I might start letting "the rodent" climb.
There is a room I can pop him/her in at night for sleepies while I climb too.
AD. the phone call is probably just to change an appointment.
I'll get Frog to take my 8 month pic on Friday morning. He's spending the day working from home. We are going out for dinner for the Festival of Bzzz.. I'll have to strap my feet all day so I can fit some high heels on my fatasaurus feet.

i only woke up once between 12 and 8 this morning, best sleep i've had in months! maybe my last good one... couldnt get back to sleep again tho, but no plans today so might have an arvo nap. DH flies in at midnight so if i'm not tired, i will pick him up instead of making him cab home.
i can't get over some of you ladies working for so long. i finished work at just under 7 months and i am so glad! i would pull up in the driveway and feel too tired to even drag myself out of the car!!
tummy timelines looking great, will try to remember to get DH to take my new pic in the morning and send it through. LT - you are such a legend for doing them!!
oh, i went and visited little Isabel again yesterday, she is so beautiful and doing really well so they are going home today. my friends boobs are MASSIVE! it was so funny as she was pretty small before and now she is Pamela Anderson

Morning all, M2B, great to hear Madi is being a good girl for you and lying right!
AD, I get those calls on my home and mobile lately, total quiet on the line, no idea sorry.
DH doesn't actually refer to the baby by a name, like me he is a bit of an "it" culprit :o. Sometimes we jokingly call it the boy name we have, but don't want to do that too often in case we're actually talking to a little girl!
Lovely looking tummies growing in here! I might be game at some point and put my tiger stripe tummy in my avi, will have to see.
LT- love the thought of Toadlet dangling from your harness, might be very soothing!
As for working, mine is so casually freelance that I'll just keep it up forever I think. I really want to get the current pictures, and maybe one more lot done in time, but for me a lot depends on demand. Nothing actually lined up after this one is done so wait and see! Don't think I'll get time to do all that lovely sitting around and knitting and embroidering that I want to do though, no big enough chunks of time in my days.
Getting hot here today, must get that grey water on the garden before the sun comes round!
L/T - that's so cute that toadlet is going to go climbing with you.....
L/L - I had a great night sleep last night too, I was so thankful when I woke this morning...It will be good to have your DH home.
A/D - Just realised what the phone thing is - telemarketing, they randomly phone numbers silenty to see what time the home owner is home and then phone you when they can determine the time you are home to ensure they catch you. This has happened alot to myself and friends.
B/G - I am with you on the tiger strip tummy, I have got some horrible looking stretch marks that seem to be creeping up further each day. I was too scared to show my OB last night. I thought I wouldn't have any 'cause I was so good with rubbing in creams and stuff! I showed my DH and he was so shocked, think I scared him -

R&T'smum i cant believe you have to work till the day before! atleast it'll keep you busy i guess but 2 little girls are very good at that too hehe.
I sometimes think work is easier than being at home with the two girls!! At least with work I can sit down and have a bite to eat without being crawled all over and losing half of my sandwich to one of them! Not that it worries me. My girls are big huggers, kissers and cuddlers, I have always joked that you couldnt be claustophobic in our house because as soon as you sit down one of them is always sitting on top of you!! LOL ! Most of the time I sit on the floor so they can play and still be within a metre of me or else its constant up and down off the couch!!

I had to work out what bf meant I though it was boyfriend. and I was thinking your DH must be impressed
Yep and with your smilies and fonts it might be the net cos a while ago we had a lot of trouble with bigpond and I couldn't even edit on my computer.

Apart from Mum2Ryan.. who else is still working? I can't believe how much work I've got to get done.. not sure I'll do it though.
I'm not getting white spots infront of my eyes but my eyesight is definitely worse.
Has anyone's baby engaged yet ? I know M2B's has.
I am still working - will be working up until 2 March (37 weeks also) so I am counting down the days!!! I can barely do it now but gradually getting there. It'd help if air con worked properly in the office!
My eye sight is def worse as well - it's due to the extra fluid retention.
Not sure if EB's engaged but when I stand up I feel like her bowling ball head is gonna come out the bottom! Lol ...
I've been busy this morning - u could prob tell since this is the first time I've posted!
Getting 1/2 head foils done tonight for only $35 at a new hairdresser near work. It's that cheap cos I am 'modelling' for a trainee. I don't care, it's cheap!

Morning Girls!
LT - Thanks for updating my tummy timeline! God my tummy seems to be low! And right out the front too!! i love being able to see how much it has grown every month!
Im still working right up to the birth... Amity is hard work!
BG - What is it that you do exactly? I cant remember if you have ever actually told me!
Lol, My brother always refers to Amity as 'Horror' Funny thing is that she actually answers to it... :o
Both Sam and I and most of our friends actually, all call bub by his name, Griffin. Just habit now.. Too bad if he is born minus his boy bits lol!
LT - Does it bother you when you climbing friends call you Fat Cow? I think that would get to me a bit. Sorta sensitive about my size at the moment.
Cant remember what else i was going to post lol.. Im sure i will remember eventually tho!

Well maybe I'll take the photo then, if only to give you a nice little reminder that you're not the only one ;) Luckily I noticed the first 2 when they were teensy, so DH has been seeing them (as I pull up my top and repeatedly ask if they are worse or not...lol) for weeks now and has been wonderful.
I have always joked that you couldnt be claustophobic in our house because as soon as you sit down one of them is always sitting on top of you!!
They sound great fun, real cuddle-monkeys!

Forgot the "engaged" question- I'm sure Bubble isn't as I don't have that bowling ball feeling. Just a horrible bruised and burning pelvic bone, much worse today, but compared to the bowling ball I think I'm very lucky!
Have fun at the hairdresser, I have been thinking of getting foils too (I too go to a training salon) but so indecisive lately I can't choose a tone :o

Emma 80 - really? what parts has he been worried about, I thought most of it has been all happy families and easy to watch.
I think it's more the woman in pain...He felt pretty helpless when I had morning sickness, and I gather that is nothing compared to what labour will be like. lol
although little toad i think toadlet should go tandem for atleast a little while.
Tandem! That would look so cute.
Weird phone calls - I had one yesterday and stupid thing is they are always private.
I gathered you might have been busy Carrie I miss your posts.
Love all the tummy lines. I'm so going to be skinny for my next pregnancy I want a baby belly!
Dh and I get to go to a birthing suite tour this arvo so looking forward to that and I have my U/S tomorrow morning :smiliedance:

I'm getting 1/2 head of blonde foils - I was always getting this at my hairdresser (who left and i can't find her!!!) and in Oct I went back to dark brown all over to keep it easy and cheap so I didn't have to maintain when bubs is born but sick of it & needs something. Lol ...

Hey Lana, I sometimes illustrate e-books, pretty sporadic, and I'm trying to develop my own site too. The book I'm doing at the moment is a song, and once it's done I'm hoping it goes on the free site (there are 2 sites, one is subscription based) as then I can link you all to it for a listen!
The free site (I figure it is OK to post as I don't get a cent from people looking) is Silly Books (www and .com and all that, no spaces) and I think they've got one of mine, Animal Fair up at the moment. Fun to look at anyway, though not sure if Amity is in to that kind of thing!
Oh, and love the tummy update, it IS low! I bet I go the full 2 weeks over dates you know, no engaging at all here...
Carrie, just saw your post, how scary a feeling! Hope it's just a false alarm :fingerscrossed:

Me too! Lol ... Haven't had any more pains so hopefully it was just ligaments stretching ... or something like that!
My friend who is having a c/s in a couple of weeks (won't tell us the date!) said her u/s she just had recently said he is about 5 pounds. I can't wait to see how big EB is at my scan!

Forgot to reply to this bit - I have 2 pillows on my right side (I sleep on right side of bed) and if I roll over I take one with me to lean on etc & I keep waking up with DH's elbows under my pillow digging in my head etc & last night he came in & did the EXACT SAME THING AD!!! Lol ... We have a Queen size bed too and he is skinny as anything & had heaps of room.

well went to the baby shop earlier and bought the nappy bin, a refill cassette & photo frame for bub.. realised half way home i didnt even get discount!!:banghead: i shouldnt whinge it wouldve only been $15 or something but its the principal of it.

Shezi - leave Chris with the girls for a day, i kinow it would be hard for you to leave your girls but it would be worth it to see him realise what you do. Sounds like he is extremely lucky to have your mum around too.
Also, call the baby shop and arrange a store credit for the $15 - i would. You are entitled to the discount, and it might help with something little when you next visit them....

Yay! It's my baby shower on Sunday!
Usually when i organise these things no one turns up but I have nearly 20 ppl coming! But knowing what some of them are like they'll say they're coming & not turn up :ro
