hmmm, not sure if this is the place for this question, but anyway -

I have recently heard that if you wrap your baby firmly enough as to stop them bringing their legs up, that this is really bad for their hip development.
I have always had to wrap my 4 month old pretty well as he doesnt settle well without it and is a houdini if I do it too loose.
So now Im really worried that this is doing him more harm than good. Anyone heard this too?

Also, I have tried sleeping bags, but he just cant settle with arms out. What to do?
I hate wrapping him in hot weather and would LOVE it if I could wean him off it.
(I do one arm out during day sleeps but it always takes forever to fall asleep like this)

Oh wouldnt it be lovely to just lie them down to bed without having to wrap!!!

Hey there....

I still wrap my 5 mth old... He don't like it anyother way... What I do is wrap his arms up and then let his legs dangle.. Then if it gets cold i put a blanket on him... As long as he's not to warm or cold he should be fine..

Also, think about how hot it is in your tummy... When the baby was in there he was used to like 40 degree heat and being wrapped tight in your womb... I still wrap my son in the heat but i take all his clothes off and leave him in a singlet and nappy... He sleeps just fine...

I wouldn't try wean him off til he is ready... He'll let you know.. when u start to find him unwrapped all the time he doesn't want to be swaddled anymore...

Maybe wrap his arms tight, but leave the legs more loose???

I had heard not to wrap past 4 months (hey, we're still wrapping here...noice lil chrissy pressie she was!!! LOL) but I have no idea why, apart from 'they need to move' but Bianca gets out of her wrap once she wakes up no matter how 'tight' we wrap her!!!

Apparently its because this is when they start to roll but can only do it one way .Therefore they end up on tummy but can't turn back.
