Hey you life giving ladies, I need a bit of guidance.

We're going to a wedding on Saturday, & want some advice on how to dress MJ & me for the occasion

I havent been to a wedding in years other than my own.

On the invite it says "lounge"

Thanks in advance :)

no idea RB thats a new term I've not heard.
I'm going to a wedding on sat too, but its just the good old 'smart casual' so I am wearing a skirt with a nice sparkly top. The challenge will be making sure DH doesn't end up in his worn out jeans!

geez if I was to turn up in what I wear when I am on the lounge these days it would be shorts and an old T-shirt!

have a good time

"lounge" normally means like a lounge suit i am pretty sure...
Its means smartly dressed

so a nice dress or skirt and a dressy top
or even a nice ladies suit if you have one...
Bubs will look cute in anything so I wouldny worry too much about that

Hey rainbowbrite

"A lounge suit is another name for business suit and usually indicates a semi-formal function. A darker suit with a white shirt and tie are appropriate.

On some occasions, if the function is an informal outdoor afternoon affair, then the lounge suit can be more casual, lighter colored, and worn without a tie. But, when in doubt, always dress more formally.

For women, a lounge suit normally indicates a shorter length dress or outfit as opposed to a formal floor length gown."

This is from: http://www.drdaveanddee.com/loungesuit.html

Hope this helps. The other thing you can try is Google-ing it. Just type in lounge suit and see what pops up! :D

Have fun!

Ok thanks for that. That takes care of me & DH but not sure how to dress MJ. I have a white dress, almost like a christining gown, would that be ok?

far out ??? !! what kind of modern term is LOUNGE??? - she'll be lucky if people doen turn up in tracky dacks!!!! :D

I'm not surprised you got confused!!! - I dont think it will matter what MJ wears... as long as she looks CUTE!!!! (I'm sure she'll be adored anyway!!)

I've always thought of lounge suit as a step down from black tie. I think women have it alot better as womens dress codes seem to be alot less rigid. I just wouldn't wear after 5 type stuff and before this year I would have said not sparkly. But I love that sequins are everyday wear now :D .

And I wouldn't worry too much about MJ, just dress her in something pretty. Kids don't get to wear their party gear all that much (at least my kids don't).

Cheers

Hey
the White dress sounds nice for MJ!! Is it long like a christening dress? If it is i probably would opt for for something a bit shorter!!

LOL Thats true. Its her godmothers wedding so she will be fussed over heaps.

I'm honestly very nervous about going. Its a HUGE wedding, at St Mary's at North Sydney followed by the reception 4hrs later at Darling Harbour. Nothing like our small garden wedding :p

No if she could stand it'd be floor length. Not like the 1m long one she wore to her naming day :)

Hey RB,

How did the weding go?
Did MJ love all the attention?
What did you end up dressing her in?

My 2yo DD was a ring bearer at my Bro's wedding on sat, right up till the last minute I was sure that she would refure and I would have to walk her down the isle, but she came through with flying colours!

of course 3mo DS cryed all the way throughthe ceremony until I had to feed him so I missed her big performance :( .

Hope you had a good time too
M.

Hi,

Yeah all went well thanks. We sat up the back of the church so i could make a quick exit if needed but shouldn't have bothered. MJ was great. She just sat or stood on my lap, saying dadda, blowing raspberries and squealing happily :)

The photographers took pics of her which i'll have to get copies of. Had everyone commenting on her good behaviour & gorgeous dress. The dress was a white dress similar to a christining gown though only just too her feet. It has short puffy sleeves, lace trim on the bottom, and on the chest it has a pink ribbon & embroiderie. Capped off with white lace socks & black paton leather shoes :D

I can only hope she's always that good when we go out :)

Come to think of it MJ was better than we could ever have expected. It was a huge day for her.

We left home at 10am, went to Erina (30mins away) to get the gift out of layby. Walked around till 12 when i gave her a bf, then left for the drive to Nth Sydney. Got there at 1.45pm, the wedding started at 2.

After the ceremony we left (didn't go to reception, it started at 6), then drove to Chatswood where i gave her a bf & we had lunch (at 4pm). THEN, drove back to Gosford to see my mum & sister who was visiting. Stayed there till 6.30pm as MJ was having great fun rolling around the floor, getting attention from my mum & sis.

Got home about 7 & ofcourse MJ had fallen asleep down the street from home  . Woke up as soon as we pulled in the drive, so gave her a bath & bf & put her to bed where she just flaked

We're so lucky she was so good. We would have totally understood if she was't.
