Can someone please tell me, can you roast a piece of corn meat?
It would come out very dry if you did. It really needs that water for moisture.
No reason you cannot have roast veges though!!
Did you need a recipe for the corned meat?

I have been given some meat and have quite a few pieces of corn meat.
I did cook one on the week end in my slow cooker and it was yum but I have another one sitting in the fridge that needs to be cooked tomorrow.
I thought maybe I could do something different with it.
That would have been so yummy in the slow cooker!!!
Perhaps you could try roasting it, and see what happens?? I could be wrong in saying it would dry it out.
I love corn meat - and this sounds really odd, but corned meat and mashed potato taosted sandwiche with white sauce are really yummy!!

Yum. I'll have to try that. I'm drooling now thinking about it.
Thanks for your help!
Some one I knew tried baking one and it was a disaster!
I biol mine and it turns out yuuummy! I put a teaspoon or so of sugar in the water and a squeeze of lemon or a dash of vinegar if I don't have lemon. Don't ask me why, this is how my mum always does it and I have done since I was 16, but it ALWAYS turns out great!

Did this by mistake once, then DP thought it was the piece of roasting beef. UGH! Corned meat has been soaked in brine, and is feral roasted, Why don't you cook it as per norm, then freeze it cooked, as it will be ok to freeze then. When you need it, just defrost and reheat sliced up, slowly n the microwave, I did that with some pickled pork that was too big for us to eat in one meal, and it actually tasted better the 2nd time!!!
Enjoy!!

yes yes u can roast silverside but i part boil it first and then roast it and it turns out fine it may be a little tougher but it beats the wobbly boiled meat on a plate happening i never fully boli my silverside. I saw jeff janz do it on one of his cooking shows.

If you want to try something a little different try this:
Score the surface of the meat and then rub in a mixture of seeded mustard, garlic, olive oil, pepper. Pour over 1/2 cup of red wine and some water. you can let it sit overnight to marinate or just cook then and there.
Its really tasty like this, and a bit different to plain old vinegar.
