View Full Version : green poo!!
I have just changed formula from Karicare gold to NAN 1ha gold and have noticed that bubs poo's have gone from yellow to a very dark green....anyone had this problem? She has only been on the NAN for 1 full day. I changed forumla because Karicare was making her terribly constipated....just not sure if i should be worried or not....at least she is not constipated.
Also does anyone pre mix NAN for night feeds? Not sure if this is a good idea but would be so much easier if i could.
Hi immarni, my bub has just recently started having green poo's also but he has been on Karicare Gold for quite awhile now. Apparently it is just the iron content in the formula...But I'm not 100% sure...I would like to find out more also...
Hope I was some help
Green is very common for formula fed bubs, I heard that it was the iron content also

Yes I know what you mean. DD was on Nan 1ha gold when she started of formula at 5 months and yes she had green poo. She's on 2ha now and still gets green poo sometimes.
I think it's the iron in it too. But it could also be this particular formula. I haven't tried any other formula so I can't tell you about how poos are with them.
And yes I do pre mix bottles. I make them and keep them in the back of the fridge. you must use any bottles by 24 hours though.

hey there...
Not sure if u spoke to your CHN before you changed the formula but none of them recommend you use NAN.. Apparently it doesn't give your child the nutrients they need...
I personally would have left my child on the same formula and tried something that helps with constipation.
Also, NAN had traces of metal in the formula.
Just some advise... :)

Yes some batches did have metal but they were identified and removed from the shops. Plus there was a recall.
My CHN recommended Nan and so did the Paediatrician dermatalogist at Sydney's westmead children's Medical Centre as DD has eczema.

When i was reading the opening post it sounded just like my situation. My dd was on Karicare and constipated (slightly) but since changing to NAN she has been fine but has very green poo. It is the excess iron content in the formula being removed from the body (what is not needed by the baby).
My CHN also recommended NAN HA1 because the proteins are partially broken down it is less likely to be hard for the baby to process and less likely to cause constipation. It is the formula many paediatricians recommend for baby's who are prone to allergies.

Just wanted to let you know that Coloxyl drops are great for baby constipation....easily available from the chemist. Zara used to be terribly constipated on S26 Gold so I used the drops but have since changed to Karicare AR for her reflux....now poos are nice and sloppy...lol!

Jack has just started using Nan HA and his poos are now a whole spectrum of yellows and greens. His nappies look like army camouflage gear!
thanks for the responses.....its not just the colour....they really do pong!! :) something i will have to get used to i suppose.
I have tried coloxyl drops and infants friend which both worked apart from the coloxyl causing more tummy pains. I just wanted to have a formula i could use without having to add stuff to it all the time. Two pharmacists recomended the NAN formula as they said it was good for small babies ( my bub is 7 weeks old and 3.34kg). They said it was very good for their digestive system. Surely they would not recommend any formula that didnt have the nutrients the bub needed.
I have learnt in this small amount of time as a mum that do what works for you unless its bad for the baby. The midwives at the hospital said for me not to use a dummy but i have found it to be my best friend. They also said don't sleep your baby on your tummy but its the only way i can get my baby to settle during the day.
I'm glad their is someone out there that premakes their formula. I just find it difficult with the dispensing scoop in the NAN to do it one handed with a screaming baby in the other (especially at night when your trying to be quiet).
