Can anyone suggest what to wrap our stroller in to try and protect it while flying to New Zealand? We are planning on taking our Maclaren Vogue stroller with us in a few weeks time. We want to be able to use it while in transit at Auckland airport so probably something along the lines of a travel bag etc so that we can pop it back in for our domestic flight in NZ.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated and also where I might purchase something.
Thanks.
I ionly travelled to another state but I used these giant thick plastic garbage bags from the supermarket. I just tied it up around the bag and then untied it at the other end. Easy to keep in ur nappy bag etc or under the pram and dont take up much room
You are probably aware of this but you can buy a stroller bag for it. There is a Maclaren one, which has wheels and costs around $80, there is a generic one that has carry straps for around $40 I think. I strongly recommend getting a bag, we have one and you shoudl see how it looks when it comes out of the plane (scuff marks, small tears) - I'm glad its the bag and not the stroller that gets this treatment!

We just travelled over Christmas and were informed (after I purchased a travel backpack stroller) that no matter what the stroller need to go into the hold and cannot be used as carry on regardless of how small it is.
Just thought I would let you know.

Caroline I was wondering the same thing. We are planning to go home to NZ for a month this coming Chrissy and so I'll be watching this thread!
We have always had them put into really thick plastic bags by the airline at check-in.
Maybe you could ring the airline and see if they will provide them???
We brought a packet of plastic drop sheets from Big W (all of $3...nice and thick) and took a roll of tape with us...we left it until the last minute, then just rolled and taped

Thanks for all the responses. I thought there must be a special travel bag for strollers but don't really want to buy something that we probably will only use a couple of times. I think the plastic garbage bag idea or drop sheets and tape might be the way to go. I'll let you know how we get on after the trip. Thanks again :)

on my 3 trips to nz ive used the special qantas plastic bags for car seat and stroller.. tho last yr i just found some clear thick dropsheet type plastic and taped up a bag and put car seat in it.
Another thought is to ask the airline if they provide a stroller to use from check-in to the plane door - we have used an air nz one in Wellington and just checked ours through with the rest of the luggage.
Saved a lot of hassle just before boarding ...
At the brisbane international airport they have a machine where it wraps your pram and carseat etc in plastic, i did this on the way over, but they didn't have a similar thing in Christchurch for the ride home, but both things were not damaged, but i know if i had of paid a lot of money for them in the first place i probably would have wanted them wrapped for the return journey.
But yeah, bringing over a large garbage bag would help and some thick tape.
