Hi Guys...

I am interested in getting the thoughts of preggie women and mums on the following topics,..

I am a first time mum to a 5 month old and when pregnant became pretty bored with the selection on pregnancy/birth books available on the market,. Consequently I have decided to write my own! And I would love the input from all you experts! Have a look at the topics below, and if you think you can be bothered, drop me a line with a paragraph about your experience on the topic,. could you also please add your name (or email name) and the town in which you live,. just for reference,. TOPICS

How long did it take you to fall pregnant?? Did you try any amusing ways to fall pregnant???

What were your early symptoms?

What were your emotions when you saw the positive pregnancy test?

how did you your partner?

When to start telling others? And what were other peoples reactions - positive and negative?

Multiple births - How did you feel when you found you were pregnant with twins?triplets etc???

Midwife or Obbie? Thoughts on antenatal care

Being pregnant in a remote location - was it more difficult?

Special diets - IE no soft cheese, smoked salmon, sushi, wine etc,. what did you adhere to and what did you ignore?

Cravings? Anything really strange??

Tests and ultrasounds - what happens when they don’t come back with the all clear - ie: what to do when you discover the baby has downs syndrome etc

Termination and the emotions behind making such a hard decision

First movement - how did you feel when you first felt your baby move! Can you explain that feeling????

Thoughts on your changing shape - partners thoughts

Stretchmarks! - and remedies on how not to get them!!!

Weight gain - how much weight did you put on?

Best pregnancy clothes and some ideas about what to wear!

Mood swings and general demeanour - did your personality change when you were pregnant?

Trials and tribulations of being pregnant,... interesting anecdotes about banal stuff such as not being able to shave your legs, paint your toenails, do up your shoes etc.

Antenatal classes - were they what you expected,. any funny stories???

Choosing names

Decorating the nursery

Best baby products: prams, carseats, breast pumps etc - suggestions?

Home or hospital birth - water birth or dry land!? Etc

What to pack in your birth bag - suggestions,... ie: I took squeezie packs of ribena!!!

Public or private - what did your health fund cover?

Pain relief options - drugs, aromatherapy,..etc,.. what worked for you???

Birth stories - did it go to plan? Tell the story!!!

First moment with your baby - did he look like youo thought he would,..was it love at first sight?

Premmie babies - coping

Hopsital stay and first thoughts on being a mum

Day 3 blues - did you get them? Any funny stories?

Breast or bottle? pressure from hospital etc, mother, midwife etc?

Taking the baby home - was it scary? what did you first do when you got home?

First 3 weeks at home - dressing - bathing - going out etc - anecdotes. Thoughts on coping!

Experiences with the local Baby health care clinic - negative and positive stories?

Post natal depression - did it hit you?! What happened?

Support from family / friends. How to get rid of unwanted guests!

The changing face of the relationship with your partner

Thoughts on Childcare?

Government support and benefits - what are you eligible for? What did you do with your baby bonus????

Finding a local doctor (paediatrician) and visiting a specialist

Vaccinisation / immunisation - HOw did bubba cope with the jab?

Miscarriage, and when things don’t go quite right - stories?

How having a baby changes your perspective and your view on the world

Hi Jane,
Good on you for writing this book. You are going to cover a lot of topics that ain't found in the one book. I'll have a think about the topics and let you know.

i think ur book is a great idea and i think they ideas uve had are great they somewhat show a lighter side of pregnancy that u dont see in alot of books because they are written by pros.

Thanks for that! It would be great to hear from you,..and if you have any girlfriends with young ones then I would love to hear from them too!

Wow - 2 so close together,. I have a 7 month old - Scarlett - and she keeps me on my toes,..I don;t think that I would manage with 2 just yet! has it been hard looking after your bubba with morning sickness etc?

Great idea. It may be helpful to add a section on gestational diabeties. I had this in both my pregnancies. First was insulin dependent and second was diet controlled. You don't hear about it very often until you tell someone you had/have it and then all of a sudden someone always know someone else who suffered with it during pregnancy. It would be nice to read about it in a pregnancy book written in layman's terms.
