On the 7th of January 2007 i woke up at 7:00 to find blood all in my undies so Shane and I rushed to the hospital only to find out that it was my show and when they did an internal i wasnt even dialated. so they sent me home around 10:30.

That night about 5 i started to get some cramps but they didnt last very long so thought they were just braxton hicks.

At 10:30 they got more intense and i managed to cope until about 1am where shane woke up and we all headed off to the hospital.

They did an internal and said i was 3 cm dialated and they didnt want to send me home so i had to stay in the maternity ward till things progressed. They gave me some panadol and some sleeping tablets as they said i needed as much rest as i could get. However, they sent Shane home. The contractions werent getting regular or constant at this stage.

I rang him at 8am to let him know that nothing was happening and he was already on his way to the hospital.

About 5 minutes after i got off the phone to him a nurse came in and said "get ready i need to take you to the delivery suite, the doctor wants to see you". So off i go to the delivery suite.

When i got there the midwife said i needed to pick a room 3, 4 or 5. i didn't understand what she meant but picked 3 anyway. I walked in and they started to get everything ready to break my waters.

Shane hadnt even arrived yet so i was saying no can we wait for shane. But they didnt lucky the midwife didnt want to do it because his head wasnt engaged. So she went off to call the doctor and shane arrived.

labour progressed pretty quick after that and with the help of gas and shanes great support i made it through. the midwife was so shocked she had never seen anyone handle it so well.

towards the end the contractions werent as strong and i knew i needed to push but they made me wait before they checked. he definately was ready and after an hour and half of pushing we werent progressing as well as they wanted so i needed to have a vaccum extraction.

with a couple more pushes and the help of the vaccum. he was placed on my chest and i will never forget that moment. i dont think their was a dry eye in the room.
