Hi again,
Just questions about Pea's & Corn.
Should I just get the frozen ones?
DO I need to do anything special or just boil & blend?

Hi RB,
I just use the frozen vegies peas, corn and carrot. I prepare them the way we eat them boiled and blend. Have been using fozen vegies since Jayden was bout 9mths.
I don't think theres any difference.

Thanks for that :)
Also save starting another thread, when should we progress to 3 meals?
RB
frozen can often be better, as they are snap frozen just after being picked, locking in all the goodness. dont boil vegies though, it takes out all the goodness, just lightly steam them so they are still a bit crunchy, although obviously steam them a bit longer for bubs as you want the nice and mushy! i buy mostly fresh as i need them (or pick them from the garden) but only if im going to eat them straight away, but frozen peas and corn are great, and so handy :)
as for the other question, cant help you there much sorry. coops and tilly wernt even eating food at MJs age :) but just follow her lead, you will be able to tell when she is wanting more, she will be eating more at her other meal times, becoming upset when she sees others eating etc :)

Thanks coopsntilly. I get fresh for the other veg. Buy & cook (steam) on same day then freeze in portions for the next week or 2. I use a steamer not sure of brand.
RB
cool, thats what i use to do with coops too, that way if we were eating something he couldnt eat, i always had something on hand for him :)

Whats your view on mixing veg?
Someone told me not to mix at this age, just give it seperate like different couses.
At the moment i mix :o
RB
i have always mixed, although when very first starting out just offered plain potato, or plain pear. i keep it pretty simple though, just potato, pumkin, brocoli and carrot usually, sometimes with a bit of butter or milk. as they get older i blend chicken, or steak, bit of gravy etc in as well :)

Sorry to dredge up an old topic but I have another question re-corn.
I boiled some up & pureed them with a stick blender yesterday but the husks are still intact & i worry about how MJ will go with them. Any idea's on what to do or should we just give it a try?
I also heard that canned creamed corn would be ok - thoughts?
Thanks
RB
Mmm yummo creamed corn! I love that stuff.
I use it when making up batches of baby food - mixed up with other pureed or finely chopped cooked vegies and chicken. It really helps with the texture.
Oh now I'm getting hungry... :)
Rainbowbrite - I also found that the corn didn't mush up as much as I would have liked, so I stopped using and just used peas.
I waited a few months and re-introduced it.
I'm not sure if they are OK with it or not, maybe it depend on the bub.
Go with what you think she can handle.
Oh, creamed corn was a bit better, maybe give that a go.
