We don't have anything passed down in the families for Christening wear, and Cobey will be 9 months so past the age of wearing the gown (I think.. anyway) so what can I look to dress the wee spunk in when he gets splashed with water? :D

(and anyone with recommendations to shops in brisbane .. cheers!!)

We went to Myer and bought a Peter Rabbit pleated soft white shirt and matching pale blue long shorts.

He was about 4 months old and looked pretty handsome (if I do say so myself).

Otherwise, there is a Christening place on the street where your DH works - we went there to get the candle and christening bib etc.

There is a shop called Tiki at chermside. One at Taigum too.

We got DS's tux there for our wedding, but they have adorable christening stuff too. And reasonable prices as well.

Oh that Peter Rabbit stuff sounds so cute... I think I'm going to go on the lookout for that :p

(we also have a wedding to go to the week after, so something cute that can be worn again for another formal occasion - fantastic!)

RM - can you PM me the name of the business :D

We are using a gown that my mom is making for him :) But I might check out that shop in Chermside (might need to purchase it outright as mom is a bit slow in making this) ;)

We were going to have Zara christened in a traditional gown from my Aunty but thought it would be way too hot so we bought her a gorgeous white linen dress from Seed in Brisbane. She looked so special and the great thing is that she can wear it again! BTW, she was christened on the same day as 3 others and none of them wore a gown.

There is a great shop in Windsor called Sorrento Bomboniere, also one in stones corner bubs (or babes) to brides, and one at underwood, weddings, christenings, everything. I've also heard that there is one at Forest Lake, but haven't been there.

The best one by far is sorrento

I'd recommend getting him christened in a lil pants suit, maybe with vest instead of jacket for qld weather!

Have fun!

My DS was over a year when he was christened and we found a white tuxedo with tails it was really cute and suited his age well. That site that Rachael put up is really great and has some very cute stuff.
good luck

Aliyah was christened in the gown worn by her daddy when he was christened 30 yrs ago (and I think his brother and sister wore it too). It's been so well taken care of by Craig's mum over the years, so it was just beautiful to carry on the tradition.:)
