I have an eleven month old that as soon as I put him in the bath he does a poo. I am not quite sure of how to deal with this. I have been pulling him straight out (when I see he is about to do something) and putting him on the potty, but he thinks it is a game. Bath time is taking a long time as I have to run a fresh bath and start all over again. Does anyine have any suggestions on how to combat this problem.

I don't think an 11 month old has faecal awareness... in other words, I don't think he's doing it to annoy you. Because he probably cannot physically control his bowels yet. If you think that perhaps he can, why don't you put him on the potty before putting him in the bath?

I hope that you don't think that I thought that he was doing it to annoy me, I realise that he is just a baby. I just thought that someone may have an idea of what I could try!

Oh, I just thought that when you said "he thinks it's a game" that you thought he was meaning to do it. If that makes sense :o
I would suggest sitting him on the potty before a bath. Or bath him an hour later! He's obviously a very predictable poo-er

Thanks. I just meant sitting on the potty is a game. I didn't explain myself very well. Sorry.

One of mine was doing this too. I'm still not sure which one :detective: . But now that I know about it, I just don't bath them until one of them 'smells'... coz then I know it's out! If it's happening every night, then maybe you just need to realise that this is his 'poo' time and push the bath back a little bit.

The warm water is probably very relaxing for him, making it easier for him to go.

I found that after a while they stopped anyway.

Remember it takes about 8 hours for food to go through the digestive system... so maybe altering the times he's eating earlier in the day, will help to eliminate the problem as he won't need to 'go' at bath time.

Hope any of this is helpful.

Try having a shower for a few days. That should break the habit.

my ds1 did this a couple times he thought the poo was a bath toy:eek:  so i would have to grab him before he played with it and then quickly re-do the bath all over again  the shower does stop it:laughing:

ok might sound a little gross but i had my girl in the bath and took my eyes of her for a second and next i see her about to eat something that looked strange she had pooed in it. (she didn't quite get it close enough to her mouth luckily) she was in the stage of everything goes in the mouth so i grabbed her had to clean the bath out and refreash the water, never had the eating problem again now if she pooes in the bath u'll hear it she is scared of it floating in the bath with her it's kinda funny she's not even 2 yet and she will scream. i agree with the others change there bath time it works we had to do that. sorry guys i know it's gross has anyone had almost this situation?

maybe wont help, but maybe the warm water is just 'relaxing' his bowels, may sound gross, but an idea maybe to fill a large bowl with water, then put his bumper in, and just let him go?? will save wasting a full tub of bathwater..
Dont know if thats a great suggestion, but it may just work.
Id also try the shower thing, he'd love to sit at the bottom of a shower with Mum, and play in the rain..
