Hi, I am just wondering if anyone has had 2 c-sections close together? If so, did you have any complications and were your OB's concerned for the health of you or your baby?
Thankyou

If you have a primary c/s and you are planning to have a repeat c/s the next time I don't think the interval between the birth and reconceiving of more than 3 months. So babies would be born a year apart.
In fact i've heard this is true of reconceiving even if you wish to try a vbac.
Every opinion varies between docs.
Are you TTC???:fingerscrossed:

I did. I had 2 c/s already and 8 months after my 2nd one I got pregnant again. I was worried about whether or not I would hold together but I was fine. My ob was more worried about my bp than my scar. Except for dd being born early (which had nothing to do with the previous c/s) all went well. Good luck:)

Thanks ladies, I had my 2nd cesarean in early november and I was hoping to ttc in the next couple of months. My doctor recommended I wait until 6 months after but that as long as I am feeling OK a little earlier shouldn't be a problem. I have done a bit of research and recommended times vary from 3 months to 2 years. I guess I will just try when the time is right and if it happens it happens. Thanks again.

Hi, my son is 7 weeks old, and I have a 15 mth old girl so my C-sections were only 13 .5 mths apart, I do admit that 2nd time was more painful but that could also be because he was a 9lb/4,2kg baby, during pregnancy i had no problems at all with scar site. Gooldluck:D

My 2nd and 3rd csects were 12 months apart to the day, I was told there is a slight increase risk of uterine rupture but that was the only increased risk related to the close pregnancys. I did have complications with my 3rd csect, the uterus was very thin and they think if I had have gone into spontaneous labour it would have almost certainly have ruptured but I don't think this is related to my csects being so close together.

Just some more info :)

Hi there,
My babies are 12 1/2 months apart, first born by emergency c-section and the second born under strong advice that I should have an elective as my son was a biggen and the pregnancies were very close. I'm very glad I took their advice as when they cut through the layer of my uterus, it was so thin that the knife just 'slipped' in and cut my sons ear. So its almost 100% that it would have ruptured if I tried to go into labour naturally, and who knows what the outcome would have been like then?

IN saying all of the above, I never had any troubles with my scar healing after the first, or during my 2nd pregnancy. I did, however, take a little longer to recover 2nd time round, but now my scar is looking great and has healed well!

omg they cut my daughters face the same way as you described ali!! Not nice is it, Savannah was screaming before she was even out because of being cut :( 7 months on you can still see the tiny cut on her face!

Hi,
I have 2 children. My son is 22 months old and Daughter nearly 4 months.
I had an emergency Caesaean with my son.
I was worried about going VBAC for the birth of my daughter, due to risk of Uterine Rupture, but VBAC wasn' the only thing i was worried about, the closeness of the pregnancy to my 1st c-section was worrying me more.
Here is my Story:
I fell pregnant with my daughter when my son was 9 months old. I had no pain or any odd feelings with my scar at all during this 2nd pregnancy.
The hosptial I went to kept pushing me the whole pregnancy to go VBAC, but i was against it. I had a bad feeling something would go wrong and after the traumatic birth of my son, i wasn't going to put this 2nd baby through the distress of a rupture, and not to mention, i wanted to be awake for this one.
During my antenatal visits i was given all the information on caesareans and the stats on ruptures. This was all good, but what the information failed to tell me was that the longer you leave it between pregnancies after caesareans the less chance you have of rupturing too. I checked out a UK site which gave me information on this. The longer you leave it, the stronger your scar gets. This also helped me in my decision to go for a 2nd c-section. 9 months of healing on a major incision is not all that long and I was right.
I had an elective c-section at 38.6 weeks and when they were sewing me up the surgeon told me if i had gone to 40wks or gone through natural labour i would have ruptured. My Scar was that thin, she could have flicked it and it would have torn open. She described it as cellophane, very thin and see through. Thank god I made the right decision. I had a gut feeling and i went for it. This baby was bigger than my first (he was 3 weeks early), so my uterus had not stretched to full term before either, and that put pressure on the scar.
This may not be the case for everyone, so check it out with your Obstetrician before hand. I wish they would be more informative about this, because it is a concern.

Hope this helps.
Angela.
Goodluck

hey angela sorry for butting in... I was just wondering how having a bigger baby put pressure on the scar? I've never heard of that. Is it common?

My first was only 2lb 12, second was 5lb 12 and third was 7lb 5 so mine got lots bigger and all born by csect but I never experienced that!

Thanks

I think I gave the wrong impression. It's not a professionals opinion, it was my own.
Because my son was born 3 weeks early and was small and my daughter was bigger, i figured that i almost ruptured because my uterus hadn't stretched to full term during the first pregnancy, hence this time round, having a fullterm baby (which is bigger) stretched my uterus even bigger and the scar had to stretch with it. If my daughter had been smaller, i figured that it wouldn't have stretched as much. I also had a short healing time between caesarean and pregnancy so my scar was weak. They have recommended i have no more kids. If I do, I may not make it to fullterm and there is a high chance i'll lose the baby from early rupture.

Angela.

P.S read wizz fizz's reply on page 1. It's similar to my experience.

I have had 3 c secs, the first 2 were 16 months apart, and then the second 2, 10 months apart.
I had no problems with them at all, only from having the 3 c secs themselves with all the scarring to my uterus. I was up quicker with my 3rd than any of them, felt really good actually!

I've had three c/s. 24 months between number 1 and 2 and then the third 17 months later. No problems with scarring or anything (my scar is hardly noticeable) and told I'm fine to have another. Bub 3 has just turned 1 last week but am having a little rest for a couple of years before going again (not because of cesareans but because of hard work of child raising!). Everyone is different depending on how well they heal and respond to the cesareans I guess.
