View Full Version : Warning to Goodna Qld Residents
This morning we discovered that we had been robbed. Admitedly we had left our back screen unlocked (both DH and I thought the other had locked it). So we lost our purses/wallet (about $200), mobile phones and my Kapoochi nappy bag with everything in it. Seems they took anything that was a quick grab.
So those that live in Goodna, make sure you have all valuables locked up.

Oh I hope you get your items back soon. And I really hope bad the person that took your stuff gets what's coming to them:mad:
Please note that in previous posts I have said goodna is a great place to live - I still feel that way. Unfort., with any place you do get either people passing through that commit crimes or some pockets that contain people who commit crimes. For the 30 odd years that my husband has lived in this house (we bought his family home) we have never had a break in until now. Perhaps if we were having them every week my opinion might change.
Just thought I'd note that so no one says I contradict myself.:)
So sorry to hear that SharonU. It's such a horrible feeling knowing that someone has been in your home and taken your things. We use to live in Goodna but we didn't have any break ins luckily. Are you near the train station? I've heard that a lot of burglaries occur in houses near train stations because the offenders usually use this mode of transport. If so, perhaps the cameras at the train station picked up the criminal that stole your goods (they may be seen carrying your nappy bag). Otherwise, have you searched nearby areas where they could have thrown items that are of no value to them?
No we are not near the train station - the police even said that where we are is usually the "good" part of Goodna - we are towards Bellbird Park.
My DH checked up and down the street and in people's yards to see if there was anything thrown away and we gave the police the mobile phone ime numbers (never heard of them but apparently they stop people being able to use the phone even if the SIM card is replaced). And the police can trace it or something. I think they let cash convertors and all that know what was stolen so they can keep an eye out for it too.
We just have to be thankful that they didn't take more or hurt us - I have a feeling that me getting up in the morning may have disturbed them. I know what I would've done if I caught them in the act and they wouldn't have got far!!!
Some news. The police phoned this evening and let us know that someone had found the nappy bag and our purse/wallets but no phones or money. We can pick them up tomorrow afternoon after they've been dusted for prints.
All our cards are still there but am unsure of whether the contents of the nappy bag is still there.

Hi,
How horrible.....
I live not far from Goodna and when i use to work in a childcare center there a few years back now there was myself and another lady there my now DH was waiting in the car park for us to close up and a few fellas of the darker skinned (im not a racist) decided to walk in the front door to the office where no one was and where ours bags were and take them i had $500 in my wallet for our car rego and all gone. The next day we went searching the near by storm drain and thrown inside was my stuff and the other ladies stuff no money of course but i was glad to have my cards back.
I really dont like Goodna much after that happened just to live manly i will still go there for pizza hut or to the rsl but nothing else.

:hugs: sorry to hear that happened to you guys....
It's an awful feeling to know that someone has been in your house without you knowing.
Atleast you and your family and the rest of your possessions are safe!
Glad someone handed in some of your things. Hopefully they can track the IMEI numbers from your phones and get those crooks! :fingerscrossed:
We picked up our things and yes everything accounted for except the cash out of my DH's wallet - funnily enough I found the $90 I had in my purse as they mustn't have been able to find it. My DH even has issues finding cash in my purse - he says it's too complicated!! Plus they also left a $20 gift card and a scratchie that had won $2.
Now all I have to do is get us some new mobile phones and wait for our new bank cards to arrive!!

ARGH - so sorry this has happend!!!!
I live on the durack/Inala/Pallara/doolendella border and I have always felt really safe!!!!
(might be the huge bars on the windows!!! )
Though I have woken up in the morning to find that DH has left the back screen unlocked!!!:shame:
I don't think anyone would try though as DH is over 6 foot tall - very broad and kinda scarey looking *LOL* though he really is just a pussy cat!!!!
