Ok, after talking with Melephant & weighing up all the pros ie, costs:D I have decided no more disposables!
I have around $300 to spend to get me started & I am going to wash everyday so I need enough nappies to last me....
I need some advice on what I need, inserts, covers, etc...I dont know much about clothies at all & its all a bit confusing atm.
I have an 8mnth old DD who weighs about 6.5kg & I would like to get some that would last through until potty training.
I have been looking at Greenkids, but I am not sure which brands are the best etc, any advice would be fantastic.[/FONT]

I started on cloth when my bub was 8 mths. We used flats and soakers and they worked really well. We tried a few nappy styles and now prefer bamboo fitteds with wool covers. Everyone is different though.
For $300 I suggest getting a few trial packs then you can slowly build up from there if you need to.

Hi Fitmumma! The Bubba Moe sling is  had a mother ask me about the other day in the shops and she was going to buy one for her daughter to use with her DD!

As for which nappies to try...I'd say if you've got $300 to go for it initially, then definately go with the Baby BeeHinds bamboo and grab yourself a woolly soaker (for night wear) and the BBH PUL wraps are ok too (only $11 now).

And you can layby at baby beehinds if you need to! They're part-time nappy pack has 10 nappies, 3 PUL covers and 2 packs of re-usable wipes for $258 + postage. You'll still have enough left over to get yourself a good wooly soaker, or invest in some terry flats to get you through on wet days, gastro, etc.

Tots Bots PUL wraps are on sale atm (sale price $12-$15) at cleverpants and nurture nappies and they're great for day wear with cool designs. They're fleece covers are fabulous too!

Happy shopping!:smiliedance:

Hi Carly:wave:
Glad to hear you are loving the sling, they are great, so comfy for bubs!
About the nappies I will have a look at the baby beehinds as they will probably work out cheaper as they come with inserts & Melephant recommended them too me also so they have to be good:D Do you have to use the covers? Are the covers used to control any leakage?
I will have a look at the tots bots also....Thanks for your help:smiliedance:

BBH has worked out to be the best value so far that I've found, PM me if you want a link to a site where they're on special. (I'm not at all afiliated with the site, just don't know if I can post it in the public section:o )

As for covers, I've just been using terry towelling training pants from the shops and they have been excellent so far:thumbsup:

Maybe look at ozclothnappies to get an idea of how many nappies around. Lots!! First off maybe buy a well known & loved brand trial pack and you could resell if you didn't like them. I'm only new to this MCN but have used terry squares on & off for 2 kids. So much easier & effective with these MCNs. Nappycino has reviews of nappies which I have found helpful.
BBH do need covers. The tots bots covers work well with my BBH- size 1 but my baby is only 3 mths.
Have fun shopping!!:)
