Can anyone tell me how long I should continue giving my daughter (11 months) cooled boiled tap water in her unsterilized (but very clean) straw cups? Or should I not even bother doing it anymore?
Many thanks in advance! :)

I stopped boiling H2O when ds turned 1.....
hope that helps!!
Call me a bad mother, but I stopped all that kerfuffull when my ds was about 6 months old. He is now nearly 9 months and I haven't had any problems. He is a very strong resilient little boy.
Whatever the books say, they are only a guideline (and if you haven't noticed already, they all say something different - drives you nuts), in the end, it's whatever you feel comfortable with.
Good luck with it all.
I haven't sterilised for yonks, just dishwashered. I recently started mixing water too - half boiled, half tap. Seems fine.
I figure once they're crawling and shoving all sorts of unidentifiable stuff in their mouths, its time to stop worrying about sterilisation ;) . Therefore tap water is fine (from most town water supplies anyway)
Cheers

Thanks for your replies ladies, my hubby laughs at me for still boiling her drinking water, reasoning that she tries to eat the cat litter whenever possible and she hasn't died yet! I guess I'm just overcautious, but she's a big healthy bub so I won't bother from now on.... ;)
I remember a friend of my mums telling me that boiling the jug for bubs water doesn't really do much anyway. She said that you need to boil it for something like 5mins to do anything to it  So really, if we are to believe what she told me, then our bubs have been drinking tap water all along anyway...I had my DS on formula from 1 week old.
I don't know if that is completly true, but I'd be interested to know if anyone else has heard the same thing :)
Yeah I heard that too (but I still just used boiled water from the kettle ;) )
Cheers

So did I :D DS was about 8 or 9mths old when I was told so I figured if it was gonna cause any problems it would have by then.
