like most 21 month olds my ds1 cant sit still for long:laughing: he wotn sit on the potty long enough to do anything and as soon as a nappy goes on he will do his business how do i get him to sty on the potty:rolleyes: he hates wet nappies and dirty ones and rips hem off as soon as they are not dry.:laughing: but he just wont go in the potty:banghead:

We're toilet training too atm and I usually read my DD a book - that will keep her on there for at least 5 minutes.
Or I have to sing her itsy bitsy spider - with full hand actions - that usually gets 5 minutes as well :rolleyes:

Good luck it's a battle isn't it!

Personally, I would just put TT'ing on the back burner for a while. There's no point pushing them and making the whole experience miserable for everyone involved. Generally boys take a bit longer to TT than girls, but once they're ready it's very easy.
Just have the potty handy if he wants to sit on it then let him, and if he happens to do something in it well even better...have a 'pee party' - we make a conga line and sing to the Hi-5 song "Let's have a party" but change the words to...
"Let's have a party (yeah)
a big pee/wee party (yeah)
with the biggest pee's/wee's in the world (yeah yeah!)"...get the drift?
make a big huge deal about it, call family members etc.
Unless they're ready, I wouldn't/didn't push TT'ing until 3.

:thumbsup: thanks for that. he's showing signs of being ready i think he is a bit afraid to go in the potty he has goen in it before a few months ago :laughing:

DD's problem is that she can't sit still for five minutes to do anything - so getting her to focus on staying on the loo is hard. She's definitely ready as well but just too damn busy to pee :laughing:

:yes: she's just like my ds1:laughing: my ds1 will sit there then decide...hmmmm that toilet roll looks intresting better go investigate that....oh wait tht big loo looks even better....how bout that shower:laughing: :rolleyes:
