I love my woollies. I mean, DS' woollies. I haven't used them since we moved here to the new place, because I don't have an inside clothes airer (ie, I'm too lazy :p) Anyway. So during the week I washed them, I rigged up the broom and the mop across some chairs and dried them inside. And tonight, I lanonolislinilinolineddd them. :D

I've ......L-word'ed...... the woollies a few times in the past, with the soak-'em-in-Lansinoh treatment. I also have the spray stuff. I have used it before, but he poo'd on the soaker the first time I used it, so I had to wash it again straight away.

Anyhoo... I read on here the other day someone said you're supposed to spray it on, then massage it in? Is this correct? That's how I did them tonight. And it : a) used a lot less lanolollinaolin; and b) was very relaxing and soothing for myself!

My questions are:
* Is this correct, is it better to massage the ... stuff... into the wool, and if so, what are the benefits for the wool?
* I wore disposable latex gloves (because I hate the feel of the....... stuff..... on my hands) so would that have been good/bad/indifferent to the process?

And lastly, I just wanted to :smiliedance: because I've had him in sposies since Tuesday :shame: and tomorrow we're going back to full-time cloth, with full-time woollies over the top!

(Providing, of course, that I've lanalliallonilinlised them correctly....)

Post em to me Queenie and I'll rub them on the bum of an old whether for you - straight from the source (sauce?) - no really, no problem at all :D

( Kris, you spelling guru you :D)

Yeah that's how I usually do them, and they work brilliantly. But I have this new-fangled spray stuff and in the past have just sprayed it on, but I heard I was supposed to massage it.

Duch - sounds tempting, but do your sheep's bums smell like biscotti and nuts? Coz my spray lanonilin does!! :D

Ok, we need Kymmy. KYMMMMMMYYYYY! Where are you?

I've only (LOL!) L-worded three of my soakers this week for the first time, so I'm a newbie and I used Lansinoh, so I'm utterly at a loss as to how to help you Queen!

I actually only replied to tell you I cracked up when reading your post! Because I was just as tongue-tied when trying to tell my sister I need lasinoh/lansinolise/lanlisohno/LANOLIN! stuff from her pharmacy! LOL! I ended up describing it as "you know, the stuff you put on your boobs when breastfeeding!" Buuuuuuut then that required a long, drawn out and confusing explanation as to why I needed Lansinoh when I'm not breastfeeding, etc.

Okay this is how i wash and LANOLISE (:p ) my woolies... (i use sheepish grins)

1) fill the laundry troff up with lukewarm water.
2) place the woolies in and lightly rub wool soap over them and massage with fingers, leave to soak over night or for a few hours.
3) rinse them in cold water, squeeze out water and roll it up in a clean dry towel to squeeze the excess moisture out.
4) Flat dry in shade.
5) once dried then shake the bottle and lightly spray and massage it in until it absorbs (no need to hang out to dry)

then you can put it straight onto bub

I honestly don't mind the feel of it at all so im not too sure about the whole latex gloves thing and the benefit to massaging it into the wool is so that it absorbs a lot quicker and it's not as moist.

Hilarious thread!
My ears are burning again.

With the spray I just massage into the fibres. Only about 30 secs so doesn't take long. I must admit I don't wash our woollies very often! Maybe cos we have so many so just wash the grotty ones (usally 2-3 at a time). I either use baby shampoo or the lanolin wash. Roll in a towel , put it on a towel on the airer in the shade outside. Then a daylater its dry. Spray and massage using the spray. You can spray on when they are damp too. Not sure if there would be a difference in perfrmance.
I did have a problem a month ago with them leaking - losing waterproofness so gave them a good lanolise and its all good now.

Oh yeah and I am very lazy, I don't wash before I lanolise if they don't need a wash.

After I've sprayed the lanolin on I just found over the woolie in half and pat it, then turn it over and spray the other side then fold it in half and pat it. Then hang it up to dry.

Sounds like you did it right.
