Private for ante-natal checks, than go public for delivery?

Hi,

Does anyone know the rules of private and public for melbourne hospitals? Can I go private for just the ante-natal checks but opt for public during delivery? Is this possible?

Has anyone gone through it this way? I understand that Perth allows this option.
