Hi !

Just wondering what kind of cars/vans/4wds etc you all drive around in. We are still debating whether or not to have another baby & i was wondering what you parents with more than 3 bubs drive around in - i know it sounds stupid but its one of the reasons we put in the "negative" :( for not having another bub so i thought i'd put the question out there & see what you all say :) & what suggestions you might have for us as all 3 of our kids are in car seats which takes the WHOLE back seat of our st/wgn

I am one of 4 kids and my parents had one of those 2 seater 'dickie' seats (can be forward or rearward facing) installed in the back of the falcon stationwagon, we also had a mitsubishi 8 seater van.

Hubby and I plan on going with a Landcruiser or something, still looking into it ourselves, but we want 4+ kids!

we have four kids and at the mo have two sedans so needless to say if we go anywhere it needs to be in convoy!! :D we are looking at one of the 4x4 mitsubishi vans as we like to go camping. the kia carnival is also a good buy and its quite well equipped. if we won the lottery we would buy the ford territory as it can have the extra seats fitted and has side curtain airbags etc and if really well designed. it is a big decision having number four because you HAVE to get a bigger car.

hiya...

I am only mum to one with a 4wd, but my friend who is about to give birth to number 3 purchased a Toyota Prado and apparently it is extremely roomy and they are very impressed. They have the capsule already fitted, and have 2 other car seats. (she'll have 3 under 3.5 years!).

good luck with your research and tips from bubhubbers!

I've got a Kia Canival, and I love it. I can't think of anything about it I don't like.

The seats are extremely good, and I have a chronic back problem. They are so good in fact that going for a drive is often enough to fix much of my back pain, because it forces me to sit well.

I have a manual, I don't like automatics, so I can't comment on the automatic version. We bought a roof pod for trips when the car is full of bodies, as the luggage space when fully occupied is not enough for a decent amount of luggage.

We only have two boys (at the moment!), but we've bought a Toyota Kluger.
I loooove it!
It has a fold-up rear seat, which, when folded down doesn't intrude on the boot space (ie/ it lays flat on the floor).
We got the model with the leather seats so spills could be wiped off easily.
I test drove the Kia Carnival for a day but it seemed a bit sluggish (even the salesman admitted that to me), and Toyotas are very reliable - I know my husband builds them!
OH WHAT A FEELING....

To Max's mummy,
I'm really proud of where my husband works and what he does!
Toyota is a fantastic company and very family oriented.
Mine was just a comment - didn't need to tell me about your Toyota stopping dead - maybe you didn't look after it!
I didn't find it humorous or clever, just sniping.

Hello there all!!
Well I have 4 boys and I also have another boy 3 days a week and we own a Mitsabishi Pajero its a manual, and it works for us..
We don't earn alot of money so this car was like our luxury, we started out in very humble beginings.
The only honest grumble I have is the fuel consumption.
It cost about $80 to fill and it last about 400-450 km

My advise is to shop around, and do your home work first.
And Im sure you will find something to fit your family and life style.
My hub works in the marine industry so a 4WD made sence, but in saying that it might not work for all.
Hope this helps :)

Just a quick thanks so far for your advice. I probably should add that we have a bertini pram (the 4wd style) & they are quite bulky so i'll still need room to fit that too  . Also with the Kluger do you pay 4wd insurances on them? Or is it not as much as, like a landcrusier ect (does that make sense  ) Thanks :)

Hi Kristy,
We pay around the same price (for insurance) for the Kluger as we did with the sedan we owned previously. I hope this answers your question.

Hello Kristie,
with the insurance on our Pajero its about $600 and thats with all the options, so I figure its fairly good value!! also Ben and I are under 30 so we do not get any kind of rebate, which is a shame ;)
Hope this helps

We have a tarago, and I love it, much easier to drive than a car I think. I can park it better and easier than a normal car, and better than DH can LOL I love the sliding door on one side only, so the kids can only get out one side, I just feel safer with it like that.
