Just need to put my feelings down somewhere.

My parents had to put the family dog down last night. :gloomy:

She was one of the family for 15 years and the last month she had really gone downhill. Yesterday she wouldn't even get up off her bed to be hosed down to cool off, so they made the decision to end her pain. I know its for the best but it is still really sad for me.

Thanks for letting me share.

Oh Amy, I am so sorry for you and your family.
:hugs: 's. Some-one sent this to me when we had to face that Jessi and Bear were no longer well enough to stay with us.

Thinking of you.

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I'm sorry to hear you have lost your dog. It was the most heartbreaking thing I ever had to do when I had my old dog put down. I had no idea how hard it was to deal with that grief. I couldn't talk about it for months and I had to get someone else to tell my brothers and friends because I couldn't even say his name.
May he be now be resting peacefully.

I had to put my best friend down at 16years old:( . She was my best friend in the whole world, I had her cremated, Yeah its quite expensive but for me it was the best thing i could do as i will always have her with me when i move. I also got a ring with her name engraved onto it that i wear so i can always remember her.
It is bloody tough but you will get through it and remember all the good times...:gloomy:

Thanks guys.

We just got back from mum and dad's and it was really weird not to see her there. But I know she is better off where she is now.
