Hi all

Im a BRAND new mumma - gave birth to my baby girl on the 8th of October.
The whole experience has been nothing like I expected, hard pregnancy and very hard labor - but wonderful little baby.

being at home for the first time ever is certainly a little differnt
I have to admit I miss adult interaction during the day - the coversation between me and roxanne can be a little one sided :D
then I have to tendancy to bombard my husband when he gets home.

I was hoping to talk to any other mums out there,
might help break my day up a little

Hi there Brooke,

I too have an October bub - born 2/10/05. Connor William - 6 pound 8. He was actually 4 weeks early - but he was still an average size.

We are going well - but I admit I agree with not having adult conversations during the day. I think also the most tiring thing is when they aren't willing to go to sleep - yet aren't too happy to just lying around on their mat or in their rocker (it is slowly getting better), so you have to carry them around with you.

Are you breastfeeding? We are at the moment, but I am still finding it difficult for him to latch on properly - and I am finding that my nipples are actually quite sore today (6 weeks on). We did see a lactation consultant which helped a little, but we still aren't perfect - I think we will aim to complete 2 months and see where we are from there. I think at the moment we are suffering oral thrush - not 100% sure, but we have our 6 week GP appointment tomorrow so will find out then. Connor seems to have a rather white mouth and I have noticed a couple of whiter patches on his gums.

Anyway I hope all is going well. Look forward to hearing more from you.

first of all congrats on the birth of your little boy - beautiful name.

wow 4 weeks early! was it a surprise or were there signs indicating and early labor?

when you have a new baby at home you have to learn pretty quick how to do things one handed :) I find that with my girl she has a kill switch that flips EVERY time I start up the shower and Im mid way through washing my hair she wakes up and starts crying .... :)

yes Im breast feeding - and its going pretty good - she was great from the get go so I have been really blessed with that - cause I understand that it can be really hard.

We dont have oral thrush - but are suffering from a heat rash (thanks to all the recent hot weather) and she also has sensitive skin like her mummy - have to be SOOOOO careful with what comes in cotact with her or she just flares up.

it was nice to hear from you and I hope that things go well at the OB - Ive got mine this friday.

Hi there Brooke and Natalie

I too have a bub born the 1st October - Bailey James. He was born via emergency c section after 28 hours of labour. He weighed in at 7lbs 6 oz but at his recent peds check up wieghed in at 10 lbs. What a piggy. :p

I too am missing the adult company, and am going stir crazy.

We are breasfeeding, but today he seems to be not feeding as well as normal. he usually goes every 3 to 4 hours but today he's deceide that every 2 is what he wnts. However he doesn't feed for as long as normal either.

Natalie I got really sore nipples shortly after coming home, and found that avent nipple protectors worked wonders. I used them for a couple of days, and Bailey didn't seem to mind. His daddy joked with him that he would have to get used to silcone, for when he gets older. :D

I hope that we can keep in contact and share stories about our growing bubs.

Belinda :)

Hey Belinda

My your little one has grown HEAPS :)

Roxanne was 9lbs 11oz at birth and is now 5.6kilos (as of tuesday) - she'spacking on the pounds too :D

I went thru similar labor ... 36hrs then emergency c-section - due to flat pubic bone not allowing roxy to pass thru - was pretty tough - BUT WAY WORTH IT

what was the story behind your ceasar?

We are breast feeding too - its going very well, which is a great relief.

Ive got my OB appointment tomorrow (6 week check up) which Im looking forward too.

hope that things are good with u

Bailey must be getting really interactive now - Im finding roxanne is getting more and more alert with each passing day. Isnt it a miricle to see them smile at you :)

Hi Brooke

My labour started with my water breaking at 7am the day before bailey was born. I rang the hospital and was told that it was in fact just the mucus plug coming away so not to worry to much. I thren rang Lee and told him to come stright home form work (I think he had just walked through the doors).

I strated having contractions about 1 hour later but had my mum over, my sister-in-law and her two kids and Lee home so really didn't pay any attention to the contracts until about 5pm when i realised that they were coming ever 5 mins and lasting 30 secs.

Lee started getting worried about 9pm that we wouldn't make it to the hopistal, so I rang them and told them I was in labour and they said come in when your ready. before I got off the phone Lee had all the bags in the car.

We got to hospital got a shot of peth and sent up to the ward. Oh we were 3 cm at this stage. Around 6 am the contractions were coming every 2 mins for 90 secs, so back down to the develiery room we went (we were 7 cm now), jumped in the shower and the contractions literally stopped. 1 every 10 to fifteen minutes.

Around 10.00am the locom obgyn come in, had a look and nothing had changed fromthat morning so she can me the drugs, which didi nothing but makethings unbearable. She came back in 30 mins later and said we were looking at having a c section as things just weren't progressing and Bailey was facing right rather than down. i think she just wanted to go home really, but with the drugs I didn't think I could hold out much more with the contractions, as there was no break between them.

WellI will finish up there so as not to bored you to tears.
My six week check up was fine. My obgyn was really happy with my recovery.

Oh Bailey is a sticky beak. He has been since he was about 2 weeks old. If we go out, or have visitors he wont go down. I think he thinks he might miss out on something. :p

He is beginning to realise that if he smiles and coo and gars that Lee and I godthe same. Lee can even get him laughing when they are playing. :D

Hope to hear from you soon

Belinda

Sorry about the long reply. Take care, and I hope everything goes well with the OB

Belinda

Please dont appologise I liked reading your story. You poor thing I can totally understand where you are coming from.

I had a shocking labor my self (as prev mentioned) long story short:

Roxy was due on the 10/10/05 but due to her size and my blood pressure starting to go up they decided to induce me on the 06/10/05. I was admitted to hospital on the Thursday night at 6pm and they put the Gel in me at around 8pm- after some Observation I was drugged up with pills and moved to the wards to try to get some sleep - at around 1am I started to get strong contractions but they were fairly irregular. at 5am I had my second lot of gel put in me (due to failing to dilate - I was only at 1-2cms) - I started to then have regular strong contractions - at 2:30pm I got my show and at 3:30pm after an internal showed I'd only dilated 3-4cms they broke my waters - I then labored into the night - at around 9pm my Temp went thru the roof so they pump an IV of antibiotics into me and just after then they gave me the drip for I was still sitting at 4cms + I then had my first shot of pethadine - after a night of labor and another shot of pethadine - the next morning I was fully dilated and started to push - after 4hours and not much progress - it was Caesar time :) you know the rest

so where abouts are you from? Me and my hubby live on the central coast in NSW - we love it here - moved here about 18mths ago and we got married up here around 1year ago.

it was REALLY good hearing from you - I hope that bailey is behaving himself for you

How you going - We are going well - roxanne has decided that she now likes to sleep through the whole night- but will only cat nap during the day - so while Im getting all the sleep I need during the night - its MUCH harder to get things done during the day.

she is a good kid though - a girlfriend of mine told me that her 4 week old is rolling over .. roxy doesnt do that yet :( she plays and laughs and sees things but wont roll over, I dont even know when she is supposed too.

oh the poor thing is being so grizzly today - Im going to TRY to get her down though

Hope you are well

Hi Brooke

Good to know I am not the only one that has difficulty getting bub down to sleep.

I am so jealous that Roxanne goes through the night. :D Bailey isn't quite there yet. He has his last feed for the night anywhere between 8.30 and 9 pm and then will go through to 1 - 2 am. After his 1 -2 am feed he usually then gets up anytime around 5am. We are hoping that he will soon go through the night, as we are going to spend two weeks at xmas with my parents, and I don't know how my father will cope if he wake to much during the night.

Baileys' not rolling over yet either. I didn't think they were suppose to be able to do that until at least 12 weeks, but who knows!!!!!!!! He loves looking at things though. When have some of our engnagment photos framed around the house and he loves to stare and coo at them. He strats to get cranky when they don't respond though. It quite amusing to watch.

I have been having the same problem with getting Bailey down during the day. I don't know if it is because he is getting older and therefor his awke time is getting longer or he just doesn't want to go down. He gets tired though. Rubbing his eyes and pulling at himself. At the moment I am finding that giving him his dummy and just cuddling him and he eventually goes off. However doing this means nothing gets done. He has gone from sleeping two to three hours between feeds during the day to slepping maybe 1 to 2 hours.

I shouldn't complain, I love playing with him, and I go back to work after the xmas school holidays, so I guess I should make the most of it.

Until we chat next time.

Take care

Belinda & Bailey :)

Sounds to me like Bailey and Roxanne are around the same stages (which is comforting for me to know) I cannot believe how intelligent babies actually are - they are forever studying you and watching trying to copy and pull faces like you and make sounds. Roxanne is really starting to experiment with her vocals - its fun to listen too -

I know EXACTLY what you mean about the daytime sleeps - its like they just want to cat nap and nothing else, I too find that some times the only thing to get her off to sleep is a cuddle and a dummy or feed. and just so she gets some sleep I might just have her on my lap for a good half hour or so before opting to try to move her to her bed - cause when she wakes up on my lap she often goes straight back to sleep - but It is a bit of a 'waste of a day' as its impossible to get everything that you want done, but your right I guess we shouldn't be complaining - as the day will come soon where all we want is for them so sit on our laps and spend time with us and they'll want to be off running around :)

Im sure that it wont be long and Bailey will be sleeping through the night! (fingers crossed) I wouldn't worry too much about your father - men have the tendency to sleep right through babies waking up through the night :D

Ob appointment went well - my Caesar scar is healed up fine and everything normal - however due to still having a light bloody discharge unable to have smear done just yet - the OB prescribed the mini-pill to me which actually has made me go into having like a full blown period though ??? hopefully the bleeding subsides soon IM SICK OF IT :(

I had a good little day today - when down to my hairdresser and had my hair done - notice how that always makes you feel better? then we went to the shops and had Santa pictures done - roxy was sooo cute for them - i was lucky she didn't cry or vomit on Santa :)

Christmas is coming up really fast - as a matter of fact this year has flown.

Hope you guys are doing great
fingers crossed that bailey sleeps through tonight

speak soon

Brooke & Roxy.

P.S. was pleased to hear that you also use a dummy - had a run in with a family member over the weekend about the use of a dummy for roxy.

Hi Brooke :)

Welcome to bubhub. Congrats on your little girl. I have 4 kids my youngest is 9.5 weeks old, born 19th of September.
I'm amazed that Roxanne is sleeping through already  that's fantastic. My little man (Aiden) is still waking every 2-3 hours through the night, but he IS a little piggy..LOL
He was 6Ib 12oz's at birth and weighs 6kg (13Ibs 2oz's) now.

Like you, I had laboured for 2 days before finally having bubs. I had the gel inserted 3 times and had my waters broken. I didn't have a c-section though, I delivered vaginaly 16 minutes after the OB broke my waters. I was only 3cm's when he broke them and 11 minutes later I was fully dilated.

Seems like these kids all have ESP. Aiden cries whenever I get in the shower, go to the toilet, go to bed and whenever I try an eat  I thought it was a male thing being so demanding, but since Roxanna is doing it too, maybe it's just what fast growing babies do ;)

I bombard my DH when he gets home too, the poor thing...LOL
I also try and keep my mother on the phone for as long as I can, because I need adult stimuli...LOL

Look foward to seeing you around the boards.

Hi Brooke

I to went and had my hair done yesterday. I noe look and feel human. It was also good to have a bit of time to myself, as mum looked after BJ for me. Mind you I missed me heaps and was only gone for 30mins. I am going to be terrible when I return to work.

Thank god for dummies I say. A midwife in hospital suggested it as Bj was having troble with passing all the mec beacuse he would suckle for the colostrum, and she said it would help with the pain. I tell people who have a go at me about him having a dummy to come over when he is cranky and they can settle. No-one has taken me up on the offer yet. Don't know why!!!!!!!!

i meant to get his santa photo taken yesterday while we were at he shops, but forgot to go back when he had woken up. Next time. (I am still suffering from a very bad case of pregnate head)

Good to hear your Ob appointmet went well.

Belinda,

hey good to hear from you - I think that roxy is going to have one of 'those' days today. she seems pretty unsettled. :(

Yeh getting your hair done does make a difference - makes you feel way human again.

Good to hear that BJ is starting to settle himself off during the night - surely that's the first step! :)

Yeh I was angry about the whole dummy thing - as they have a 18mth old - and they opted for no dummy but for him to suck his thumb instead - I have my views on this and Ive NEVER once said anything to them as I believe each to their own when it comes to kids, so even though I think its wrong to let a kid suck their thumb I never said ANYTHING - but the fact that they had a go at me ****ed me off - to be honest - and the dumb thing was i was so taken aback by it I kinda sat there like a stunned mullet and took it, instead of firing up at them. It was rude too - it wasn't just "how could you use a dummy we think its wrong" the father came up to me and shoved a the base end ofa plastic spoon at my face and said "YOU try sucking on this for a while and see how YOU feel" amongst other things -

sorry to harp on about it - I was just offended - and it sunk in more later on how much it annoyed me.

Its cold and wet down here today - I swear I really cant keep up with it - one day its 30+ hot then the next raining and miserable.

We have people coming over tomorrow for lunch and to meet roxy - I have to clean up the house :( I hate house work, but its got to be done.

OH god roxy is firing up - better go

nice to hear from you

Hi Brooke and the screaming one.......

I would rather Bj have a dummy then suck his thumb as well. I think it wold be eaiser to get him off his dummy when he is older as I can throw them out or hide them, where as I can't do that with his thumb.

My bestfriends younger sister sucked her thumb until she was 12, and her parents paid some denist and orthodontist a furtune to fix her teeth because of the thumb sucking.

Good to know that Bj isn't the only one to off days. This week it was tuesday and yesterday. He wouldn't settle and didn't want to go to sleep for more than 15 minutes, and just wanted to be held.

The weather up here is the same, cold and raining one minute, and then the sun shine and humid the next. The only good thing is last summer we got the lounge room and our bedroom air conditioned. The air con in the lounge is big enough that it cool the whole house (all five rooms of it), and Bj sleeps in his cradel in our room, so that he can sleep in the air con(when he diecides he wants to sleep that is). we plan to get his room air cond for him asap.

I hate the house work too. My husband does most of it. He has just finished doing the vacuuming and the mopping for me. I have the best husband in the world, or I tell him.

Well I've got to go and hung one of several loads of washing on the line.

Take care.

Belinda & BJ

Hey - well what a day .... Roxy slept the first part of today - but from 12-7pm she said I AINT sleeping - she just wanted to party all day - we had people over for BBQ and she just WASNT going to sleep - she had about 3 cat naps of 30mins then was awake the whole time, she is farst asleep now though - and I dont think that I'll see her till morning. She always wants to stay awake when I have people over I think its because she is a real social butterfly :p

The weather was crappy again today - started out Freezing and bucketing down then turned around at lunch time and turned into a 30+ day???

Oh lucky you I wish we had air-con!
however Our house is paritly tiled and it really keeps cool cause of that. (thankgod)

Oh Im so glad that your husband helps put with your house work too, brads great he always does the chores that I really hate doing ....

I KNOW what you mean about the washing - have you noticed that ever since you've had a baby that ALL you seem to be doing! I cant believe how much we go through ;)

Im glad to hear that you guys are doing well - even on the tough days! and its SO refreshing to speak to some one that goes through the same things as me and RELISES that some days babies just cry and they just want to be held :D

hey belinda you're breast feeding too arnt you? is that going well for you?

Hi Brooke

Bj is exaclty the same when we have vistors or we go out. He will cat nap for around 15 to 30 mins but that about it. Oh and ususally he want to be held by someone. It is a differnt story when it is just the two of us at thome though, he stick pretty much to a routine of eat, sleep until around 2pm them he is up until 6-7pm. Its strange, and I really do think they are taking it all in and just love the attention and to prople watch.

My OB perscibed the mini-pill to but I haven't started taking it yet. I read the information phamplet in the box and that is what has turned me off so far. Increased risks of cancer, bleeding and DVT. However I am think that maybe I shold just start taking it.

I know this might sound personal but have you got your period yet???? I am not sure if I have or haven't. I had a couple of days when Bj was 6 weeks of really light spotting, and have had it again this weekend. I don't know weather to count it as a period or not.

Bj amazes me more and more everyday. Yesterday we were visiting Grandpa, and where he lives got hit by some serious storms, thunder, lightening, hail you name it, and BJ slept thourgh all three storms. The third actually put him back to sleep.

Well better go he is starting to wake and is due for a feed.

Take care of yourself and Roxy

Belinda & Bj,

Hello - my god its uncanny how our two babies are acting so similar!
they are so cheeky when it comes to visitors :p

Today I spent most of the day at the shops doing the last of our Christmas shopping - and Im exhausted! Roxanne was ok behaved it was a big day I had to stop and feed her a couple of times - she screamed a few times in the shops - do you ever notice when you really have to get of a shop cause your baby wont stop crying and you have to feed them - you've picked a checkout line but its always going to be the slowest one!

OK Im glad that you asked about the period thing (and don't worry its not too personal - I mean we are supposed to help each other out right?) ever since the birth of Roxanne I have like you had flow - that's gotten lighter over the last couple of weeks - when I saw my OB, he said that he couldnt do the smear test due to the blood flow and I should come back again when that has ceased. He also prescribed me the mini pill and said that it should make the bleeding stop - Ok then I started the pill and it actually brought on a very strong blood flow like a period, So I figured that's what it might actually be (even though I wasn't sure if I would get my period on the mini pill) Ive now been taking it for just under one week - if this bleeding continues to go on towards the end of the week Im thinking of going to see my doctor, even though it all feels normal, just to see what is going on

Belinda Im just SO sick of bleeding - I know that I got 9months off - but Roxanne will be 8weeks next Saturday - that's almost 2months of bleeding ... no matter how light its gotten at times - it still feels like an eternity.

the Physio that saw me after the birth told me that when it comes to having sex again and using tampons for your next period you should wait till you have stopped bleeding altogether, did they say anything like that to you? I'll be honest with you even though its VERY personal and kinda embarrassing, me and my hubby haven't had sex since roxy being born and its NOT for lack of wanting too, its because of the stupid bleeding. He has been very understanding, but its pretty annoying.

I really hope that you are going well - things are good here.

I'll speak to you soon
Take care
Brooke & Roxy.

Hi Brooke

I feel relived to hear that you too have had something that resembles a period. I stopped bleeding after the c section after about week three, but have had just the two very light periods since. I haven't strated taking the mini pill as my OB said that you can get light imtermitten bleeding between periods, but you still should get a normal period once a month. So much for people saying that while you breast feed you don't get a period.

I haven't strated the xmas shopping yet, which is unusual for us as we have normally finished it by now. i do have to go and get Bj's photo with sanata done before he dissapers

I didn't see a physio in hospital, I think the midwifes forgot about me. Lee and I have tried the whole sex thing but it just ins't working. I found that during pregnacy it started hurting, and is still hurting to this day. We have tried differnt positions to no avail, and have enven tired lubricant, but that didn't help either.
I usually don't use tampons so I haven't tried that either.

Well got to go and email a techer at work.

Take car, and speak soon.

Belinda,

How's it going? Ive got the hic-cups at the moment - Man I havent had them in ages - Roxy gets them all the time though :)

Ok Well I Still have my 'period' - god I wish it would go away! but it seems to be slowing down ... or maybe its just wishful thinking??!!?? I know what you mean about sex during pregnancy - I found that towards the end it began to hurt a little as well - I wasnt sure if it was mind over matter though - it was REALLY hard to try to push the thought out of my head that there was a baby RIGHT there near all the action.....

We went to mothers group today - talked about helping your child develop and crying & sleeping patterns today, it was pretty good - except that roxy (who usually sleeps right through mothers group) decided that today she would be wide awake and smile and giggle at everything for the first 15minutes then scream the house down on and off for the next hour ... poor thing was being so unsettled. but it wasnt a worry as most other babies their were screaming louder :)

So you mentioned that you will be going back to work soon .. what do you do for a living? will you be putting BJ in day care?

Are you still breast feeding?

Take care

Hi Brooke

Bj gets the hiccup all the time too. It is funny to watch to start with until he starts toscream. they must really hurt when you are that small. How do you get rid of them for Roxy? I give Bj the boob, and I have found that he wont suck on his dummy long enough to get rid of them.

I am a special education teacher. I work mainly with children with an intellectual disability and children with Autism. I love it. No two children are the same and they learn new things everyday. This year I worked with the year 1's and 2's, but next year I will be working with studetns in years 3 -5. Next year will be a real challange, as I will be working with several students with really challanging behaviours. It will be interesting to see how I cope with working in a really stressful classroom, and then ahve to come home to Bj. I am a bit worried that my milk my start to dry up due to the stress of working with the children my dumb boss has given me.

My mum will look after Bj for us next year at our house. I looked into day care and even family day care, but it is sooooo expensive, and we get nothing from the government to help with it, and Mum is so excited about looking after her fisrt grandson.

We went and had our santa photo taken today. It was hard getting Bj to look up, but the photograper managed to get a good photo of him. I also bought xmas wrap and cards, not that I have any pressies to wrap up yet. I guess I should really get a move on with the xmas shop.

We are still breast feeding and everything is going well in that department. I am going to express when I return to work, so at the moment I am expressing one feed a day to give to BJ in a bottle so that he gets used to haveing bottles for next year. He doesn't seem to mind talking the bottle, I have just got to learn to get the flow right for him, or the poor little thing fall asleep and has only had about 20 mls.

Take care and talk soon

Roxy always gets them - but it seems to be when she is in the car ( I think its got something to do with the rear facing car seat??) usually by the time we get to the destination they are gone, the other thing with the car is with out fail she will everytime throw up! I ALWAYS have to make sure she has a bid on before I put her down in that seat cause she ALWAYS throws up.

Wow your job sounds great! - I think that if I had my time over again I would get into teaching. I work as a credit officer - Before I went on mat leave I was working for GE, as the key operator in the car loan assessment team. Ive been in the credit industry for about 5years - doing credit checks and giving people loans - I actually like the work, got really good at it too. However my job in GE is actually situated in Sydney and I don't want to commute to work anymore (i.e. leave here 6am and return home 7pm - its a 4 hour round train trip) as I would NEVER see roxy!!! I did it all through my pregnancy and it was tough - My husband works up on the central coast from 7-3 - Im thinking of just applying for a job with Coles or Woollies part-time for a few days a week for any time past 4pm & the occasional weekend -So that I can stay home during the day and watch Roxanne and Bradley can watch her when I go to work for a few hours. You are right about child care its SUCH a rip off and you are SO lucky that you have a grandparent that can watch BJ - my mum lives up here but she is the bankmanger for a branch of the commonwealth bank and at 44 I don't think she will be retiring any time soon :)

So basically it would make sense for me to go back to work full time during the day as I'd essentially be working to pay for child care. So I don't mind doing something a bit low key part time until Roxanne starts school, then I could get something a bit more permanent.

Im glad that your breast feeding is going well - mine is going good too - Roxanne is usually very good when it comes to feed time - she seems to be behaving herself today she went down about an hour ago, which gave me time to catch up on a few things - but is stirring now - I went to put her dummy in and it smells like she has done a poo - so I guess she'll wake herself right up soon.

I'd better go for now so I can finish the folding before she wakes up.
I want the house clean today - as her daddy is getting home early from work and we are going to go out for a few hours as a family.

speak to you really soon -
hope you have a great day

Hi Brooke

Bj seems to get them shortly after a feed, or sometimes it can even be two hours after a feed. He doesn't get them in the car though.

We are very lucky that my mum can look after him next year mind you she has gieven up two jobs for us, so i consider myself very lucky. I don't think she would have it any other way though.

I hope you have a lovely family otuing.

Talk soon , as Bj is waking

Belinda.

PS when is Roxy going for her needles? Sory is Roxy going for her needles, if so when? Bj is booked in for Friday. Arg Daddy is going to take him in for the needle and I am going to wait outside.

Belinda -

Roxanne's needles are happening on the 9th of December, next Friday - Im very nervous about it, see my biggest fear 'used' to be needles - I still HATE them - but during the pregnancy I had so many (Ive got a negative blood type and had to have extra needles) Oh hell I still hate them with a passion and its not Just the anticipation - its when its in me it KILLS I hate it and the longer its in the more it stings - The first needle I had for my pregnancy (the blood test) was the first needle that I had in 25years where I didn't cry and it was only because I told myself it was for the baby, so I made it through the pregnancy - but now that Im not pregnant and not having to have these needles for 'someone else' I'll probably turn back into a big blubbering idiot for needles again.

Im sorry but Ive really got to go - as Roxanne just doesn't seem to be settling - and her dad has just popped of to the gym -

I'll speak again soon when Ive restored order in my house hold :)

Belinda,

Well things are a little better now - it seems that every day from about 4-7 is our WORST period for Roxy being unsettled! its sooo tough, I just dont know what to do to get past it ...

she is in the shower with her daddy now enjoying some 'daddy time' she loves it in there - have you tried BJ in the shower at all? she never cries in the shower - even when she goes under the water.

I gotta go cause its time to get her out and dressed for bed time

I'll speak to you tomorrow

Hi Brooke

I too am Rh negative and I think I had about 4 anti D injects while I was pregnant, but luckily my Gp has a nurse at the practice and I didn't feel a thing when she gave them to me. The Nurse will be giving BJ his needles tomorrow so fingers crossed they wont hurt him to much.

BJ is very much a water baby. He loves his baths (as long as they are nice and deep) and he loves it in the shower. In the afternoon to stretch out his feed times we give him a bath and just let him kick around for a good 20 minutes, he forgets he is hungry until he is being dressed and then starts to scream.

BJ's cranky time is usually around 3 or 4 pm. I just try and amuse him with different things. We spend a bit of time under his play gym until he gets sick of it (which is usually 5 minutes later), we bring in the washing (I sit him in his rocker under the clothes line and he watches the clothes move), however this one doesn't always work, we live on a main road so we sit on the front steps and watch the traffic go by, which usually settles him and can keep him amused for a bit longer, and if all else fall we have a bath.

Someone said to me that one reason babies can get cranky in the afternoon is beacuse our milk supply maybe low, and they aren't getting enough to satisfy them. Bj used to have a cranky period like Roxy for a couple of hours, but beacuse daddy now gives him a bottle of expressed breastmilk he is really setlled in the afternoon/evening, and his cranky time now is really only 1 to 1 1/2 hours if that. I think it is beacuse he is getting more from the bottle than he does from me. I know when I express while he is having his bottle I only get about 80 mls, yet he is drinking atleast 125mls. If you don't want to express try feeding Roxy more often , but not under the 2 hours.

Hope you have a wonderful day :) , we are off to the shops to try and finish the xmas shopping, and to do a few errands.

Wow That's so interesting that you were also RH Neg! - only like 15% of people in Australia are. Did BJ turn out to have negative or positive blood? Roxanne turned out B positive (Im B Negative)

I hope you go well with your Christmas shopping - We have finished ours Thank God - the crowds are beginning to get bigger! Ive got to get started on the wrapping! there is a monster of stuff to get through, I have such a large family.

Today Roxanne and I are having a day at home - she was a little unsettled at lunch time - but I managed to get her down for a sleep and she has now been down for about and hour and a half. there is a BIG thunder storm though so I wonder if it will wake her up.

Thanks for the advice on the bottle feed in the afternoon - I think I'll give it a go if things get bad. you can never tell with these little ones one day they are angles and the next .... well you know how they can be :)

I hope that your day was drama free

Hi Brooke

Thankfully BJ took on my blood type A- and not his fathers O+, so I didn't have to have the Anti D after he was born. :D

We only have two more pressies to buy. One for my older brother ( i am waiting for a CD to be relesed for his present), and our 5 year old nephew. BJ was fantastic at he shops today. He entertained himself by talking to everyone that walked past for the first 30 minutes, then put himself to sleep. He then had a feed and happily sat in him pram for a while but them started to get a bit grumpy, luckily we were all most finished. The minute we got home I put him on the floor on his sheepskin and he fell sraight to sleep, and slept for the 1 1/2 hours. All I've got to do now is find time to wrap all the pressies.

We are going to have our first family photo tomorrow :p . I figured that was the easiest present to give all the grandparents. It will be interesting to say the least. Tomorrow is also the dreaded injections day. I will let you know how we fair on the weekend.

Hi Belinda -

GOOD LUCK with your needles today - I have my fingers crossed for you!!

Wow Im glad that BJ was so well behaved at the shops yesterday - I love it when they are like that - as it can be a big day for them. A family photo is a lovely idea for a gift - I had professional photos taken of roxy last monday to give as gifts.
they come back on the 9th of december - I cant wait to see them.

Ive been meaning to ask you how big / long BJ is getting? I had Roxanne weighed on tuesday and she is now 6.5kilos and 59.5cm long. shuch a big girl :D

Roxanne woke up for a feed at 4:30 this morning and when she was done I put her back into bed - but instead of falling back asleep straight away like usual she layed there for an hour singing and laughing to herself, it was sooo cute- I couldnt go back to sleep cause I was listening to her - I eventually went in and got her to bring her in with me, and when I turned up in her room she cracked the biggest smile and laughed as if it was all a game :D

I really hope you have a great day today!

Hi Brooke

The photos we has taken look fantstic. I now just got to chose they ones that we want. I think she took about 150 before Bj started to get cranky.

His needles were fine. The first two he barely cried but the last one was the straw that broke the camels back. Lee was holding him and said he just went so tense as she did it. But it is all over now, and he is having his nappy change dby daddy and they have been having a wondeful conversation for the past 10 minutes. He is such a daddy's boy.

Yeah for me. I finally finished the xmas shopping. I can't believe it.

Well got to go and try and put this boy to sleep.

Hi Brooke

Well I had a very productive weekend. Not only did I finish the xmas shop-[ I managed to get all the pressies wrapped too. Oh it feels good.

Bj has been pretty unsettled today. I think it may of been beacuse we had a big day yesterday. We went to visit my parents who are up the sunshine coast at the moment on hoildays. Bj went for his first seim, and it ws so exciting he feel asleep, it was quite funny.

Today he had a cast taken of his feet and hand for one of those twinkle toes things. I can't wait to get it back to see them.

Bj has been awake most of today except for a couple for 30 minutes cat naps, and it still awke now. Daddy is reading him a story. Tonight might be the first night that he might sleep through. Fingers corssed.

I hope you and Roxy fare better tomorrow with the heat.

Belinda,

Hey - BUMMer about BJ not sleeping through :( It WILL happen though, eventually.

when he wakes at night does he just have a feed and a change- then back to bed? cause if so at least your not getting any nonsense from him.

oh my god we had ANOTHER hot day today 30+ and tomorrow is the same again - Poor roxanne has a horrible heat rash :( she is sooooo sensitive and its flared up something terrible in this heat, Im worried about her.

+ I was on the go all day today and just forgot to keep my water levels up and my milk supply got a bit low, you really have to try to take care of yourself.

We had some cute photos taken of her today - they had her in a little angel outfit - it was adorable! they'll be back in time for christmas.

Are you doing alot for chirstmas?

I hope that you are going well

Hi Brooke

BJ is really good when he wakes at 2am. He has one boob, nappy changed at bit of a play, then the other boob and straight back to bed. Sometimes he doesn't even wake properly.

We are going camping with my parents from next weekend until just after the new year. I will be interesting, to say the least. :p I can't wait because it means I will have mum around to hold and cuddle him, and Lee and I will be able to spend some quailty time together.

I know what you mean about the heat. Even know we have air con, I still have to go outside to do the washing. It was disgusting yeaterday, however today isn't as bad, at least there is cool breeze.

I also know what you mean about milk supply. I am really naughty and drink a lot of diet coke. I know i should drink more water, but don't tend to until the evening, when its to late.

Well hope you and Roxy fare ok in the heat today.

Hi Brooke

Well we had and interesting time yeaterday.

I went out for dinner with friends and left BJ home with Daddy for the first time. I feed him before I left, and bathed him and everything, so I assumed he would go pretty much straight off to sleep. No such luck. Lee rang me 30mins after I left, and all I could hear was Bailey screaming his little head off :( . Lee questions was how do you shut him up????? It was the worst feling in the world. My first response was to grab the car keys out of my bag and start heading back home. Thankfully Lee managed to give him a bottle and the little bugger drank 75mls. I must not of had much milk for him, when i feed him. The poor thing. He evetnaully settleed, and when I came home he was sound asleep on the floor.

The best feeling of the night was when I woke him for a feed, shortly after I got home and I got the biggest smile, as if to say Oh muumy is home. :D I swear he new I was gone, and that was part of the problem. I don't know if I will be going out without him again anytime soon, as it did nothing for Lee's self esteem in regards to being a father.

Hope you and Roxy are faring Ok with this heat. take good of both you.

Belinda,

Oh my what an ordeal for poor lee! Our little bubs can be so unpredictable at times though! Ofcourse BJ knew that you wernt home! I dont know how but they just know these things! I think that they are smarter than we give them credit for. Im very proud of lee though for handling himself - and Im EXTRA proud of you for NOT going home and being strong!

I visited a girlfriend of mine today and her little girl matilda rose is only 6mths old (she is a cutie) and is rolling around EVERYWHERE - we had a great time there - roxy is having a nap right now - should be up soon for the afternoon.

We have needles tomorrow ... yucky WISH me luck - (im nervous)

should be able to get through them ok though.

any pointers for me?

phew its another hot 30+ day down here! I feel like Im going into melt down - at least Roxy is coping better.

Hi Brooke

Good luck for tomorrow!!!!! Some pointers:

If you can take someone with you for suuport. Lee came when BJ had his, and he actually held him. Don't watch, I had to look the other way as I was about to cry, and have the boobies ready for afterwards. Oh my Gp said to also give him the panadol 30 mins prior to the appointment, so that it was already working when he got the jabs.

Try not to stress about them, as Roxy will pick up on how you are feeling and she will get anxious. You don't want her taking on your fears. She will be fine. Maybe a bit grumpy a couple of hours afterwards, but she will be ok, just keep up the panadol, and keep an eye on her temp.

Good luck

How you going?

well we survived the needles - its was scarey though - I was fine up until they called her name to come in and have them - then I started to cry ... the nurses were great though - they told me that most first time mums get a bit emotional, Roxy was ok until they stuck the needle in then she went all tense and started to cry - then I cried harder too - but after it was all over she had a big cuddle from me then got straight on the boob had about a 10min suck then fell straight to sleep. Im glad its all over - but the poor angle has a little bruise on her leg from where it happend.

Guess what Im so happy as my period has FINALLY stoped all together! after 9weeks. It just got so annoying.

How is Bj going? its almost christmas and santa will be comming bringing them both lots of presents

Today we are heading out for a nice family outing just down to the broad walk at the Entrance to have lunch together and have a sticky beak at the markets.

I hope that you guys are doing well

Hi Brooke

Good to know that you both survived the needles. :) No more now until Feb.

Bj is good. He has a rash around his pubic area at the moment. I think it might a heat rash, beacuse he sleeps on a foam matteress at night and this is when it seems worse. During the day he sleeps on our bed, as I think it is cooler.

Good to hear the bleeding has finally stopped I can't believe it has taken so long. Mine stopped at around 3 or 4 weeks, and as I have said perviously I have had some light bleeding since then. As Lee says having ababy isn't all it's cracked up to be, all though you don't need to wear pads for nine moths you get stuck with putting them everywhere after bub is born.

I can't wait until xmas. We are spending xmas day with my parents and Lee's family I am assuming will visit sometime over the xmas and new year period. I have finally finished wrapping most the xmas presents, and I am just waiting to get the family pics back, to frame and wrap. I know my mum had gone crazy and bought heaps for BJ, so Lee and I had decided that we wern't going to go over board, but have bought him lots of clothes (Peter Rabbit mainly, as I love PR), and although he is a little to young at the moment we have bought him some peek a boo blocks, and the truck that goes with them. Oh we bought early in the year the incredicube for him as was 1/2 price.

Hope you had a lovely family day. It feels good to go out as family. I love it, just wandering around with the two most important men in my life.

Well I had better go. We are starting to get things ready to go away. I can't belive it this time next week we will be on our first family holiday. :p Yet other opportunity to take lots and lots of pics.

Belinda,

Yes Lee is totally right!!!! having a baby is certainly not everything that its cracked up to be! Im glad that my period is finally gone - i bled for 9 bloody weeks! I guess that was to make up for 9months of not bleeding - So now I have to call up my OB and go in to have my pap test ...

Christmas is so exciting - Bradley and I tried not to go hardcore aswell. we got some peek-a-boo blocks to and she roxy also is getting a walker off sanata (even though it will be ages befor she can use it - I figure that some time in the next year she'll need one, and Christmas is a great excuse for us to get her the things that she will need during the year.

On saturday I went to a BBQ and saw a girlfriend whos baby is two weeks younger than mine - he was over 10lbs when he was born but Roxy has certainly overtaken him and is huge compared to him ;) Ive noticed that only in the last two weeks she has started to get that 'chubby' baby look - like her legs and arms have sort of cute rolls of fat developing on them ... its cute.
Anywho I like taking to you about our babies cause I never feel like its a competion or anything - I feel like we help each other out - this other chick makes me feel like she is always trying to go me one better, I try to ignore it though - its just a crummy feeling!

You must be REALLY excited about going away! You are going to have the best time!

I dont have much planned for tomorrow just sorting out a few things around the house - Ive got to get into roxannes clothes and pack away the stuff that she has grown out of to make way for the new stuff. I'll definatly speak to you tomorrow.

have a great night

Hi

Don't you hate it when people think they are better than you. It gives me the
sh&^s.

Three days until we all start holidays. We don't count today as it has already started. He he :D . Lee is sooo excited, he has had enough of work, and can't get off qicker enough. I just can't wait to get up the coast, and have some extra pairs of hands to hepl out.

Today we are off to the banks to pay for some Oshkosh and Fred Bare clothes :p that I bought on ebay yesterday, and to buy the frames for a family pics.

I've got to start going through BJ clothes as well. I went to put a Peter Rabbit suit on him the other day, and he looked like he had cerebal palsy. It is amazing how quick they grow. I had him in his swing before and he look huge, compared when we first put him in it, he was soooo tiny. I should go and get the heffulump weighed this week.

We have started video taping him at differnt times of the day, and we were watching it the other night, and there was some footage of when his was a couple of days old. He has changed sooo much. :o

Well have a good day, and take care :)

PS Has Roxy discovered her reflection yet. BJ did the other day and it was sooo cute. He gooed, gared and smiled at himself for 20 minutes.

I need to have Roxy weighed again soon too - she has started to move into double zeros!! She loves mirrors (after all she is a girl ) and finds her relection funny also - in the last week or so she has really been discovering her hands and is forever shoving them in her mouth :D

Ive got a tonne of house work to catch up on today :( bummer

last night roxy went down at 7:30 and woke up at 12:30 for a feed then at 5 for another feed - so it was like old times yesterday!

I'd better go as roxy is stirring and I want to catch her before she gets into full scream

Hi Brooke

Well I weighed BJ, and he now wieghs in at 12lbs and 3oz or 5.59kg. What a porky!!!!!!! Thank God he is long, so everything evens out. he has strated getting to that puppy fat stage as well. It is so cute to look at his little legs and see fat rolls.

I have a heap of house work to do as well, folding, ironing but I keep putting in off in the hope that it will either do it itself or someone else will do it. No such luck with either at the moment. What doesn't get down in the next couple of days will have to done on Firday so the house is clean to go away. There is nothing worse than going away on holidays and coming back to a dirty house.

Hey does Roxy dribble, drool at lot? BJ has for the past week or so, I hope he is not getting teeth already. He is to young isn't he??????? Bj loves to put his entire fist in his mouth, but then he realises he can't suck on it becasue it's to big so he trys his tumb and fingers and turns his nose up. Hopefully this means he wont be a thumb sucker. He is deifnately a dummy boy :p !!!!!!!

Will catch up before we leave.

Belinda

YES oh my god our babies are so similar! Roxy HAS started to dribble alot and I thought the same thing - But Ive been told that they arn't teething yet its just that their teeth are 'moving around' if that makes any sense....

Roxy was 6.5kilo's two weeks ago - I have to find out how big she has gotten now - I saw a baby on the weekend that was born 2weeks after her and weighed 10lbs but she has totally overtaken him and looks much bigger than him. She is such a porker!

hey can I ask you a question I just expressed for the first time today ... (Ive never needed too yet - but Ive decided to start so that (a) Bradley can give a feed & (b) if i want to go out I can) - what really got me going is tomorrow night bradley and i are going to the movies for my b'day and Im leaving roxy with my mum - (bit nervous) anywho I did one side and got out just over 80mls ... is this normal ?? as i have NO idea - and how much would you leave? I was thinking at least 120mls? Roxy's night time / before bed routine is: Feed - bath/shower - dress for bed - Maybe a quick story from a book - then feed of the other side then straight to bed..... I was planning on doing a feed before i leave mums - then she could do the whole bath routine then do the other feed via bottle for her to go to bed.
How much milk do you think I will need ? and how long does it sually take for you to express? it took me about 30mins today....

Brooke

bpato
13-12-2005, 10:39
Hi Brooke

It usually take me about 30 minutes to express both boobs. It can take longer depending on the time of day. I can get alot more milk first thing in the morning than I can in the afternoon. The health nurse told me you can express each breast for no more than 25 minutes.

Again depending on the time of day I can get up to 80 - 100mls for one boob, and around 60 - 80mls for the other. Sometime, usually in the evening I would be lauck to get 80mls out of both.

We usually give BJ just over 125mls and he will take most if not all of it. Beacuse it is BM they will only take what they need, so better to leave more than not enough. Oh and they vomit if they have had too much :p . It is amazing how there little bodies work.

I would definaltely feed her before you leave your mums. I find that if I change the routine to much BJ wont settle as qucikly or as well. I don't know if this is the same for Roxy???

Well HAPPY BIRTHDAY :p , and I hope you and Bradley have a wonderful time tonight. Enjoy and don't do what I did and keep ring every 10 to 15 mins  . Roxy will be fine, and will probably have a great time with you mum.

Hi Brooke

Good to hear you had a good time last night and Roxy behaved hersefl for your mum. You sort of feel like your old self going out without. Mind you all I could think about last week when I went out was I want to go home and cuddle my little boy. I am going to be a mess with going back to work in 5 weeks.

We are off to the doctors in 20 mins as BJ seems to be getting blisters on his penis around where he was circumsied. It started last night, and I though it has fixed it self, no such luck. Not something you have to worry about with Roxy :p .

Hope you have a good day, take care

Belinda

Oh PS 1 day to go :D !!!! I am sooo excited I can't wait. I will miss chatting to you  but will post as soon as we get back, and tell you all about it.

If I don't get a chance to post between now and then, I hope you, Bradley and Roxy have a fantastic first xmas as a family, and don't stay up to late on new years. Have a safe holiday.

Howdy stanger

WE ARE BACK. We got home this afternoon.

We all had a fantastic time. Where do I start with everything we have done.

The most exciting things first. Bj slept through from the first night we were up the coast. He went down around 9 - 9.30pm every night and wounldn't wake up until 4.30 - 5.30 am each morning. Some mornings he would wake at 4.30 take only one boob and be sound alseeps, so I would put him in back in bed and he would sleep until 6.45am. It was great. It will be interesting to see what he does to night.

We started him on solids as well. He loves it. He screams at me to give him more if he hasn't had enough and I think he has. It was amazing, he knew exactly what to do. He didn't even chock which apparently most babies do the first few times. Oh he is a very clean eater to which is good, beacuse I only have to wash his face afterwards, not his whole body and the chair that he is sitting in Oh he now weighs (as of last tuesday) 6.04kg. He wasn't getting enough from me in the early afternoon so that is why we stared him on solids.

He had his first formula bottle too. I needed to get him use to formula just in case mum runs of a breast milk for him when I go back to work. He wasn't fussed, he took the first one he tried, and seems to of had no ill effects. He is such a piggy.

We had such a good time. Swimming, shopping, and swimming. Bj loved the water. Mum brough him a floaty with a sun shade for xmas and he would just sit back and float around in it. It was soooo cute.

We has a good xmas day. Bj got the most pressies of course. He got his peek a boo block, clothes, ratlles, books, you name it he got it. He was more interested in the wrapping paper then any of his pressies but I had a good time opening them for him.

Anyway enough about BJ. How was your holidays, and xmas????? I got a diamond eternity ring from my darling husband for xmas. You should see it, it is huge. I love it.

Got to go Lee needs to use the computer to check a few things at work.

Take care. Can't wait t hear from you.

Hi Belinda

and WELCOME back!!!! I missed you.

Sounds like you had a great time away! COMGRATS on BJ sleeping thru the night!!!! Im so wrapped for you!!! WOW you started on solids, thats great. Im not quiet sure when Roxy will need to start on solids - as she is quiet a big girl (7.2kilos as of wednesday the 21st) which is off the scale compared to her age/weight chart. But Im glad to hear that BJ has taken to them. He must be getting so very alert, Im sure like me you are finding that 'play time' is becomming a real adventure now :)

Our christmas was good - we were at my dads house on christmas morning and then later that night we went home only to find that santa had come and visted us there too and filled up our stocking and there was plenty of gifts under the tree too - Roxy also got peek-a-boo blocks (I think they are fanastic) but I think that her favorite was a ride on / walker car thingy for when she starts to learn how to walk this year. We then headed over to my mums for boxing day. All in all was a good time and Roxy made out like a bandit :D

NYE was great we went down to the Entrance beach waterfront where they have like a carnival thingy and 9pm firewroks - well roxy fell asleep in her pram when we got there at around 7:30 but sure enough at 8:55 she woke up and then was awake sitting on my lap when the fireworks started - MAN she LOVED them!!! she was just so enthralled - it was definatly the highlight of my holiday season.

So back to baby bizz - Ive just passed the big 12week mark (this is where you stop talking weeks and start talking months... our kids are growing up!) She is going pretty good - rolled the other day but it was such a one off thing Im POSSITIVE it was a fluke! She has been settling wonderfully, and still sleeping thru the night (thankgod) Im glad to finally hear that BJ is doing the same, it only gets better...... except I suppose that we have teething to deal with real soon!

Im heaps glad that you are back, cant wait to hear from you

Hi Brooke

I know what you mean about there age in weeks and months. we hit the big three months mark on new years day. It is amazing to look at photo of BJ the day he was born and photos that were taken just days ago and see how much he has changed. It is just amazing. I now know what people mean when they say they aren't babies for long, and they grow up so fast  .

Both Lee and I are really enjoying BJ now :p . Lee said just today that he loves it now that he is staring to interact with people and his toys, and recognise people. The minute he see either one of us we get big smiles and laughs. Lee is also now finding it alot easier to settle him, which is making him feel better about his ability as a father.

BJ hasn't rolled over yet, but is trying every time we put him down. I can't remeber which is supposed to be easier back to tummy or tummy to back?????

I was worried that Bj wouldn't continue to slepp through the night once we got home :( . We were using a tetra matterss while we were on holidays, were as we had a foam one at home, so we brought mum's matterss home with us, and believe it or not he is sleeping longer :D . He hasn't stirred during the night or woken up until 5.45am. Mind you the last couple of days I have been really tired and have started getting really big headaches. If they continue for much longer I think I might have to go and see our GP about them.

Well I hope you and roxy and both surviving this heat we are having at the moment.

Talk soon, and take care

Hey Belinda

How are you? Sorry I didnt reply earlier have had stacks on my plate - my gran was down from brisbane and we had to take her back to the airport and stuff.

With the rolling thing I know that it was only a once off fluke for roxy, I think it might be easier when they are on there backs?? I roll her on the side and encourage her to try to roll either way, just as a little help :)

The heat has been HORRIBLE down here!!! thankgod that its raining today and the temp has come right down. I saw that things are hot up in QLD too though - bummer :(

Isnt it just the best feeling when your baby knows who you are!!! I love the smiles that she saves for bradley and I.

I have a tera-snugg bed in my cot that ive been using since birth and its working very well for us also. Im so glad that BJ has finally given you a bit of a break at night times - it makes you feel so much more human!

Hey Im really sorry to hear about your headaches... are you ok? I hope that they are getting better! Please let me know how you go.

Sorry again about the delayed reply!

Hi Brooke

Good to hear that you and Roxy are surviving the heat. The air con in our bedroom is playing up at the moment so BJ has been sleeping on the louge room floor it has been sooooo hot.

We are going shopping today for a snuggle bed for him, so he can go into his cot. Lee and I are still arguing about wether or not the cot will be in our room (my arugument) or his room (lee's argument). My arguement is that our room is air cond but his isn't and he shouldn't have to sleep in a hot room, while we sleep in
comfort, Lee's arguement is we could turn the big air cond in the lunge on and leave his bedroom door open. What it really boils down to is I like having him in our room. :)

I've still got the headaches :( . All I can put it down to is either the way I am lying when I am sleeping or that I am not sleeping as well as I was. I get worried during the night that he has woken but I haven't, so I wake around 2 -3 am which is when he used to feed, and have trouble getting back to sleep. I have found that if I try and sleep when he does during the day it only makes it worse.

He and daddy are currently napping on the bed together :p . My husband is such a dag.

Well I am sure I have rambled on enough.

Take Care

Hi Brooke

We have bought a snuggle bed for him. Just a few questions  .

How to you tuck in their blankets around them
Do you just use it on top of a cot matteress or what
It seems quite soft in the middle, I was expecting it to be quite firm, with all the SIDS stuff.

If I think of any other ????? I will ask.

Thanks
Belinda

Belinda

Ok - congrats on your purchase! they are great,
ok in response to your question - yes use it on top of a cot matress -
You know how with cot sheet sets you get the fitted sheet and the single sheet - I put the fitted sheet on the cot the put the matching loose sheet on the snugg bed - I have a little matress protector on it also (its a cradle size on and it fits in side the snugg bed and helps protect it) - with roxy I have her wrapped in one of her wraps then I get a blaket fold it in half so its doubled up and then place it over her and tuck it in around her body and feet - as she likes to have her hands up over her head when she sleeps everything below the armpits usually gets coverd in a blanket - but her hands are wrapped. BUT if you want to use the BIG blankets Ive just wrapped that around the bottom half of the whole snugg bed.

yes it is a softer matterial - but is perfectly safe - espically when you have it on your cot mattress - plus it firms up a little over time anyways.

now you know that they are only safe till around six months of age or untill they start to roll?

Hope that helps? BUt i have found that the snugg beds are great - we have had roxy in hers since birth and she loves it - she is almost as long as it now.

I had her weighed on friday 7.5kilos!!!! what a bigg'n.

Its a shame to hear that you still have your headaches :(
I know what you mean about the worrying about them waking up and you sleeping thru it - (Bradley never hears roxy! - she might be crying next to his head and he has NO idea!) but its a scientific fact that we are just designed to hear them and will wake and respond to our baby's cry. so try to relax yourself a little, it will take a bit of time but you'll get used of him sleeping thru. Dont worry there have been mornings when I have fled to roxy's room to make sure she is still ok as she has been sleeping for what seems like forever!

Re: Bj in his own room - as a neutral party I can definatly see both sides of the arguement. It looks like you guys are going to have to try comming to some kind of compromise. its a sticky situation - its important for you guys to start to get your own space back - but why should bj's comfort have to be compromised....

Hey did you ever end up going onto the mini pill????

I hope that you guys are going good

Hi Borrke'

Thanks for that. The aim is to get it all ready for him to sleep i nhis cot tonight. We still haven't decided in which room, but I do agree with you we need to started getting our ouwn space back, so I am thinking it might be in his room tonight. :(

Yeah i know htat you can only use the snuggle bed for the first 6 months, but we decided that we were more comfortable with him moving inot that, than straight into the cot. I guess we are looking at it as a transitional thing from cradel to cot.
We were talking last night and we might even try and sell the cradel, and if and when we decide to have no. 2 :p we will just use the snuggle bed form day 1. I wish I new about them before I brough his cradel, i proabably woould have done what you have done with Roxy and put him straight into his room, i the cot.

I had completely forgotten about the the mini pill  . So no I haven't srted taking it. I decided that I would wait until I finished BF and then would just go back on the normal pill. For now we are using alternate methods of contriception.

I've got to go and wiegh BJ sometime this week. I want to make an appoint. at the CHC to ask ???? about reurning to work and how much he should be drinking while I am gone. I weighed him last week and he weighed 6.21Kg.

Got to go he is waking up

Have a good day

Hi

Would you believe I go back to work next Thursday (19th) :( . I can't believe it has gone so quick. I am going to miss him soooo much, the cuddles, the smiles, the laughs, even the screams (not that he does that much anymore).

Mum is coming over for a few days to familiarise herself with his routine, and how he likes to be settled. She knows all this already. I am sure it is just an excuse to spend time with him, becasue she missed him when we came home from the coast.

I have an appointment next week with the CHN to ask lots of ???? about expressing and amounts to give him for each feed. I am hoping they can give me some guidance or else we will be flying by the seat of our pants for the first few days.

He has been really unsetlled today. Lots fo tummy pains . I donn't know why, it is very usually for him.. unless he is getting sick  . He keeps waking up screaming and will only sleep for 30 min bursts. The poor little man!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I hope you and Roxy are having a better day.

Take Care

Belinda

PS Haven't had a headache today. TOUCH WOOD. Maybe I am getting used to his new night time routine. Who knows, everyday is different and full of new things

Hey how are you?

Hubby is just in watching the cricket so I thought that I would shoot you a quick note!

wow I can believe how quickly time has flown - for you to be going back to work - OFCOURSE you'll miss BJ - and you are right everytime with them is a good time (even when they do scream) they grow up so fast.

I was playing with roxy today and she was laughing and stuff and I got thinking - when did she become like this? one minute she is this little baby who is new in the world and doesnt do much at all - now she is just this incredible human being that loves to laugh and play with people. its amazing how quickly it all happens.

we had a DISASTER today though - I feel like the WORST mother in the world ... We went out to drop some dvd's off at the video store and pick up some lunch - bradley drove I sat in the front and roxy was in the back in her seat - anyhow, when we got to the video store I just ran in and also with lunch I just ran in and picked it all up - bradley stayed in the car with roxy reading a magazine as I wasnt going to be to long - all in all we were out for around 15/20mins - when we got home I got out of the car with all the stuff and bradley opened the front door - I passed it to bradley and went to get roxy out of the car (whom I thought had fallen asleep on the car ride) - well BOY was I mistaken ! she had done a MASSIVE POO - it was runny and had leaked out of the side of her nappy! and she had it everywhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh belinda I was so shocked! I thought that they did stuff like that when they were 9mths (you know the old 'take off there nappy spread it all through the cot routine) I felt terrible - but she was laughing and thought that it was sooo funny - I took her inside and bathed her whilst bradley stripped the car seat and cleaned that up. can you believe it??

I dont wish that on you at all

hope that you have a great day tomorrow

Hi

Lee is watching the cricket too, and BJ is asleep on the lounge room floor.

You poor thing. A very similar incident happen to me with my godson when he was about 15 months old. Lee and I had take Jesse (my godson) and his older brother Jack up to Mooloolaba for the day to have a swim and get fish and chips for lunch. While we were waiting for our lunch Jesse wouldn't sit still, and I kept putting him back on the seat to sit down. After doing this a couple of time I realalised he had done a poo and it was everywhere, all over the chair, up his back, down his legs, I mean everywhere. I asked Jack to go back to the car and get the nappy bag to change him, while I held onto his hands so that he wouldn't touch it. My darling husband was such a help. Standing there gagging and carrying on, eventually he left me standing there with Jesse while he ran off to check that Jack was okay. Fat lot of help he was  . we just have to take it all in our stride, and they always say it is differnt when it is your own child. Is this true???????????

Guess what BJ rolled over today while we were playing on the bed :D . he must of though mummy had gone crazy :p and I was soo excited, and he just kept laughing at me. I think it may of been a fluke, ad he hasn't done it since.

I know what you mean about the growing up thing. I look at phtos of when BJ was little,a nd think it has only be 14 weeks, but god you have changed so much. he has his own little personality, and way he likes things to be done. It is amazing to think that we make them from a sprem and an egg.

Have a great night

he wanted her to 'watch' the cricket with him :D

Im glad that you could relate to my story!!!!! it was terrible!

Oh congrats in the roll over thing - there must be something about the bed as thats where roxy rolled too ... but hasnt done it since either - I'll lay her on the side and she roll right back over on her back or right over on her tummy and have a bit of tummy time - but hasnt rolled from all the way back to all the way front since that one time - fingers crossed that BJ does it again though for you!!!!

Hope that you have a great night sleep -

Hi

Sorry to take a while to respond. Things have been a bit hectic, with trying to get thing organised for work next week. A teachers job is never done.

BJ are I are both well, we caught up with friends today, I was good to get out og the house. however BJ screamed most of the way home in the car. Oh and no headaches for the past two days.

He hasn't started slepping in his snuggle bed yat as we haven't got it organised  . I am planning of getting everything set up tomorrow as mum is coming over for the day to check out his routine and practice selttling him. Not that she has any trouble doing it, but she wants to learn about what he does when and what we have deen doing. I love having her around, the extra pari of hands are great. It also gives me a bit of a break :) .

Next week will be a busy one. I am going to work on Monday to set up the classroom, and then one wednesday I am meeting with my teaching partner to start planning,a nd to try and orgnise the million and two timetable we need to write up.

We got a remote control garge door opener installed to our shed today :p . i can't wait to go out, and not have to get out of the car several million times, just to get out of the back yard. I said to Lee the next thing will be to get electric gates :p so we don't have to get out of the car at all. It is a real bugger when it is raining because you get satched opening and lcosing everything.

Hope you and Roxy had a great day.

Take care
Belinda

PS BJ is still sort of sleeping through. Last night he woke at 3, but he usually wakes at around 4 - 4.30am. I class this a sleeping thorugh would you?????

Hey Belinda

DONT Appologise! I understand that things must be very hectic for you at the moment! I hope that everything works out ok when you go back to work (which Im sure it will!!!)

I dont technicly class a 3am wake up as 'almost sleeping thru' (as he was only an hour off) :D Its good to hear trhat he is going so well!!

I had mothers group the other day and one of the ladies there has started her 3mth old on solids already! here I am still happy breastfeeding :p We met up in a local food court it was the first time out side of the health centre, I cant understand some mothers though... I mean when I got there roxy was asleep and she woke up and needed a feed so I fed her there and then (I have no problems feeding her in public) where as some mothers there had 'timed it' so that they had to leave at a certain time as thats when their baby would need feeding and they could go home to do it.

I was also at a bbq about 2months ago and a girlfriend of mine was there with her little boy who is about 2weeks younger than roxy - and she was chatting with me and said "Oh he's due for a feed at 3:15 I had no idea what Im going to do about it" - 15mins later when it came to feeding roxy I just fed her there and then again as my girlfriend watched on ... then when it came 2 feeding her boy it seems my 'influence' rubbed off on her and she gave feeding in public a shot.

Im just disapointed in society for creating this great taboo that it has - hell I dont Pop my boob out for the world to see but if my baby is hungery I feed her!
Sorry for my little rant there :p

Anyways I hope that you have a fanastic day - Im a little nervous as bradley is going for a promotion today ... I hope he gets it!

we will speak very soon
look after yourself and try to relax before you have to go back to work!

Hi

I love your picture of Roxy she is gogerous. I've got to get to and update mine of BJ to a more recent. The photo of him is when he was 1 day old. It si one of Lee's favourites.

I notice from one of your post you were up at 2.00am this morning what was wrong? What I should say is everything Ok???????????

BJ seems to be having lots of tummy pains (I think this is what they are) at the moment. He had gone from pooping just about every nappy to pooping once a day if we are lucky. Is this normal

I feel the same way about b/f. One of Lee's dads friends tried to tell me that b/f and baby is hard, beacuse you can't go out anywhere with them, becasue if they need to be feed you have to go home . When I asked him why you have to go home to feed them, he said beacuse you can't breastfeed in public, it isn't polite or right for others to have to see. My response was my **** you can't. It is discrimination if you are asked to leave. He just looked t me and walked away. heheheheheh :p .

How did Bradley go with the promotion???

BJ is sitrring better go and check on him.

I have been meaning to ask, have you started Roxy on the next size dummy yet????

We use the Avent silicaon ones, and I have bought BJ the 3 - 6 months ones, but the teat is sooo much bigger, he tends to gag on it on little bit. I am worried about still giving him his 0 -3 months ones are they are getting a bit small, as he can get him mouth over the top of the summy plate. I don't know what I should do. HELP???????

Hey Belinda

First Off Thankyou for the compliments on Roxy - I finally got around to posting a picture :p - and I love the updated one of Bj whats a cutie!!

Yes I was up VERY late last night - Just having a mega insomniac attack :) My hubby was watching a show on telly and I went onto the computer - well i think that around 12 I got past being tried and stayed up ... Which IM PAYING FOR TODAY - I ended up throwing in the towel at around 3.... I dont know what I was thinking - But everything is ok .... just couldnt shut my mind down to go to sleep.

Apparently after the 12week marker babies poos usually slow down to once every day or every couple of days - Bj is breast feed and its actually quite noremal for a BF baby to go upto 10days with out doing a poo .... Roxy was religously once a day and has now slowed to once every two days .... But if BJ is on formular then its once a day (im pretty sure Im right but you might just want to check with you OB)

We find out about the job next Tuesday ... Im trying not to get my hopes up as there were alot of other guys going for it.

I use the tommee tippee dummies - with the brown coloured nipple on them..... Roxy doesnt accept the small clear ones, as it doesnt fill her mouth like a breast/nipple does. But at the moment she has become OBESSED with stucking her pointer & middle fingers at once.... she has the most god awful expression on her face when she does it and gaggs to - Im constantly pulling them out of her mouth saying "NO ROXANNE" then replacing it with the dummy ... its a never ending cycle at the moment - but Im pretty presistant!

Hope that you & BJ had a great day

Bj has discover that he can suck his thumb :p, and he too makes a god awful face when he does it. It is hilarious. Shortly after he puts his thumb in his mouth either Lee or I am telling him to take it out and then we give him his dummy which he normal spits back at us.

Hi Brooke

It was hot up here today too  . We went to vist Lee's dad out a Karana Downs which is near Ipswich and it is always hotter out there thatn in Brissie. We went to visit as Lee's dad partner Marie has offered her dad's chrisenting gown for BJ to wear for him chrisenting next moth. It has pink flowers on it so I don't think we will use it for BJ, maybe next time if we have a girl.

I feel good at the moment about returning to work. I have a eally good support network there in the way of some very good friends, who wont let me get to down about missing BJ.

My boss on the other hand had no idea what she is doing  , but that is a whole other story.

I have been soooo slack, Bj is stillin his cradel in our room . I just haven't got around to getting everything organised. His breathing monitor, a night light ect. Maybe tomorrow, we'll see.

Well hope you have a good night, Lee is pestering me to get off the computer. he says I am addicted to BubHub, I don't know where he gets that idea :p .

hi guys, thought I'd jump into this thread as it sounded interesting. My little girl Maddi was born on 16/10 and we're breastfeeding too. I have also found it frustrating the looks you recieve when you have to feed in public. It's not like anyone elase apart from bubs can see niplle anyways. You would have to be looking pretty hard to get a glimpse. Maddi too is waking at 3am for a "midnight snack". We did have about 3 weeks of sleeping through but it seems she's hungry again. Must be a growth spurt?

petal80

Bingo -

Probably just a growth spurt (DAMN THEM:p )
its a drag that feeding in oublic is such a taboo!!!
I mean you'd have to be some kinda sicko to want to cop an eyefull of a mother feeding her baby

- Belinda - hope that all is well thinking of you!!! *hugs*

Love the piccy of Roxy. She is soooooo cute :p .

We went to see the CHN today. Nothing exciting to report, apart from anything is fine. She got BJ wiehgt in at 6.39kg, so either the scales that I have been weighing him on are incorrect or theirs are  . I found about about twhat his temp should be normally, and how much EBM to give him during the day while I am at work.

Question: How many feeds a day does Roxy have??? Bj is still having 6,and the CHN said he should only be having 5. he still feeds every 2.5 -3 hours, and wont go any longer no matter what I try.

It has been hot up here too today. Thank god for air con :D .

Oh did Bradley get the promo?????? He will be fine looking after Roxy. I just hope it doesn't have the same first experince by himself that Lee had :D . we look back on that day now and luagh.

Well mum is looking after BJ by herself for the first time tomorrow, while I go up to work and get a few things done. I am going to miss BJ sooooooooo much. I just hope he and mum have a good day, and it Nan weekdays form tomorrow on.

Have a good one

We STILL havent heard back on the promo - Im keeping my fingers crossed but you never know what could happen.....

Bradley is feeding roxy a bottle right now and doing a super job (having a practice for when Im away on friday) Im sure that they are going to be fine though

I hope you are ok and that your mum went OK with BJ

Hi

Today was my first ful day back at work, and I missed BJ soooo much :o. I kept looking at the time and wondering what he was doing and if he was being good for mum.

Mum and he spent sometime yesterday together by themselves and he was fantastic. Just slept and play for her. She even managed to get all our washing and ironing done for us ;). He was good today to, so fingers crossed it will continue.

I think BJ might be getting his first tooth . He has been chewing on everything he posibly can, and the dribbling has gotten worst. he has also started to have a pretty restless night the last few nights. The only thing is he isn't really grumpy so I am not sure .

I hope you have a good time tomorrow night, and enjoy yourself

Take care

Hi Katrina

Welcome, feel free to jion in our convos anytime.

Brooke how is everything going????

So happy for you and Bradley about the promo. Congrats to you both. Lee and I were just talking about his job, and him talkin gto his boss about fixing his job description and getting his pay right. Fat chance of that happening anytime soo, lee ahs been doing the job for over 18 months now :( .

Work is crazy, I think I should of taken more maternity leave, just so I didn't have to deal with all the issues, but then that would be just putting of the inevitable.

BJ has been fantastic for mum. She is getting lots done including the washing and ironing HEHEHEHEHE :p .

He has been a bit cranky the last couple of days, so I am pretty much conviced he is getting teeth. he doesn't like his teething ring though. I don't think he likes the coldness, so I have taken it out of the firdge to see if that helps.

Not much else to report of the home front.

I hope all is well with you and Roxy. Look forward to talking soon

And she behaved LIKE AND ANGEL for brad on friday night! tipical right now he thinks that looking after her is always a breeze

BJ teething WOW - Ive been wondering about roxy to -as she is going mental on chewing things too - she is obsessed with the teething toys we gave her for christmas. Ive just also really noticed in the last two weeks she is getting alot better with her hands picking things up and putting things in and out of her mouth. its just exciting to see her growing like this.

Im off to mothers group today and hopefully catching up with some bubhub mums from the coast this afternoon.

I hope everything at work is going ok - good to hear that Bj is behaving for you mum

Hi Brooke

Sorry to be sooo slack and not post for a while. Things have been really hectic at work. I have finally got everything organised so will hopefull be able to post more often again. that is Lee lets on the computer. he keeps comlianing I am spending way to much time on it :p.

Well BJ had his 4 month needles on Monday. POOR BUB. He screamed . Lee couldn't come this time, so mum did and she held him while i waited int he waitng room, crying mind you.

He is getting christened on sunday, so yet another busy weekend coming up. After this week everything should start to get back to noraml for us, whatever normal is these days.

Bj has been fantastic for mum. it been great. Iget home to a happy bub, and all the ironing and washing has been done. I then get to spen the early evining, until Bj goes to sleep which is around 6.00 with him.

he has changed sooooo much. he has worked out that he can pull him dummy out, which he thinksd is fantastic, until he realised he wants it and starts to get cranky. he is also obessed with suckin ghis thumb . we keep telling him not too but I think we are losing the battle.

Well got to go and get the services booklets ready for the christening. I will try to post more often,as i to miss our chats.

Take care of yourself, and that beautiful baby girl of yours

Belinda,

Hey how are you... it was good to finally hear from you. im glad that everything is ok :D

Bj sounds like he is doing GREAT - Im really pleased for you both! Him and roxy remind me so much of each other whilst she isnt trying to suck her thumb she loves her fingers and also is constantly trying to get her whole hand in her mouth  Like you guys it looks as if we have lost the battle on that one - no matter how many times I say no - she keeps chomping away -

she still isnt rolling as such but rather squirms her self all around on her mat ... you lay her one way then a few minutes later she'll be in another position .. cheeky monkey ....

I hope that your christening goes well - we are doing ours soon too

hope that you had a great week at work - I bet that you are looking forward to your weekend -

Howdy Stranger

I loved the email you sent. It is sooooo true what is in it, you really don't know what it is like to be a mother until you actualy become one.

BJ's chirsentening was ggod. A very long weekend though. I think i could sleep for the next week or two  . The ceremony was lovely and we had a BBQ at mum and dad's afterwards, and I felt like I was running around like a blue arsed fly most of the time. we got most of the food ready (salads) the day before so it ws just a matter of putting up balloons and that on sunday. all in all a trying weekend. I can't wait o be able to just spend an entire weekend just veging out at home. the last month had just been sooooo hectic .

BJ had learnt that he can now roll over when he wakes up (he is tummy sleeper). He thinks it is hilarious when he does it and wakes both Lee and I up with the laughing and carrying on :D . It is sooo beautiful. He is still sleeping in our room. One of these days we will move him into his room. Next bub (if and when) will go striaght into thier room in a snugle bed I think.

Oh soooo much had been happening. He has figured out he can pull his dummy out and put it back in, he is now reaching for everything which is good because he now entertains himdelf with his toys for a little while, and he had even starting cooking lessons with his Nan. They have been cooking muffins for mummy and daddy for lunches :D .

Well have got to go and spend some time with Lee.

Take care.

Hi Belinda
Sorry !!! ive been so slack !!

How are you? How is BJ How is work???

We are going great down here - Rpxy is really surprising me with her 'new tricks'

We joined a reading group at the local library - sing songs read books that kind of stuff and its GREAT! we went today and had a blast with all the other kiddies :)

She is going great and is getting pretrty good with her hands! passes things from hand to hand with ease and pulls things in and out of her mouth (ie dummy)
she isnt really rolling yet - its only frustrating cause she keeps rolling up on to her side - then stays there then rolls back down again - however if Im playing with her and trying to 'teach' her how to roll and put her up onto her side she will then roll right over on to her belly and straighten up - its funny Im just waiting for her to match up the two things :D

Well its been very hot down here (we are SOOOOO getting aircon in our next place)

hope you are good

Miss you

Sorry to be so slack. I could use the excuse that I have been busy but that isn't fair. I am really missing our chats :( .

Well it looks like BJ will move itno his room sometime on Monday, as my uncle is coming to install his air con for us then. I don't want him to sleep in his room, but it is time Lee and I have own space.

As of last night he is sleeping in his cot. He just got too big for the snuggle bed, and kept getting stuck against it so he was distrubing during the night. I went and bought for him a good quality wool underlay to make the matteress soft for him, and also bought a bumper. I know it is a no no for SIDS but he kept getting his arms and legs stuck when we had him in it last time. However it is a breathable bumper. Oh buy the way he slept like a log last night too :D.

He has got this rolling thing down pat now. He still can only do it from tummy to back, but is cosntanlty trying while on his back.

Oh he reached out for me this afternoon when I got home from work. It was wonderful:D .

Hey is Roxy putting everything in her mouth:rolleyes: ???????? BJ is contantly got something in his mouth, if it not his hands, its his dummy or something. I even came home one day and he was sucking and gummying a rusk. He loved it, mind you he had also made a big mess.

Lee stayed home and looked after him today, and guess what he didn't sleep at all. I am hopin ghe will go through form mow untilmorning. Fingers corssed.

Well I want to know what you and Brad and Roxy have been up to??????????? I soooo miss our regualr chats. I promise I will try and make and effort this week to post every couple of night.

Take care

Hi

How is everyone?????????????

Things are good here.

BJ's air con got installed yesterday, so the plan tonight is to get his room ready while he is asleep (on our bed of course) so that he can go down for the night in his own room :yelclap:

As he is getting bigger, he is now 6.85kg , I am finding it harder to get enough BM for him during the day. At the moment he is supposed to have around 175mls of BM a feed and I am getting just enough for him to have 2 booby bottles while I am at work and 1 formula bottle. I think eventually, if not sooner we will have to put him just on formula during the day :( . I don't want to, I really enjoy BF him. It is our specail time.

Have you started Roxy on solids yet?????????? We are trailing BJ on two soild meals a day. One in the morning and one in the evening. Not much change to sleeping patterns yet, but will have to give it sometime I think.

Has Roxy dropped a feed yet??????? Bj is still having 6 feeds a day, and eveyone keeps telling me that he should only be having 5 at this age. He still feeds every 3 hours on the dot. He wont go any longer, no matter what I try.

I am sure I have :ecomcity: enough for you.

Look forward to hearing form you. Miss you heaps.

its soooo good to hear from you! :smiliedance:

Guess what Roxy started to roll yesterday!!!! and now she just wont stop!!! :yelclap:

Im still so excited about it!

Good to hear that you are all doing so well !!!

In answer to some of your questions - yes roxy is on 5 feeds a day (one in the monring - morning tea - lunch - arvo tea and night) no solids as yet looking to start that at around 5months. Good to hear Bj is going well with his solids and stuff!

she is now 8.2 kilos!!!! and is facing the right way in the car seat now - which is just the best!

Im so excited for you having aircon and BJ in his own room - you will HAVE to tell me how you go with it!!!

WOW says Congrats to Bradley about the promo :smiliedance:

Mum weighed BJ yesterday and he was 7.04 kg, Not long and we can turn him round too. I cna't wait to be able to see him while driving. Lee says he wont sleep once we trun him around, as he will have soooooo much to look at.

Is Roxy rolling continuously or just from tummy to back or back to tummy?????? I can't wait until Bj starts rolling from back to tummy, and then works out he can move around the house. Mind you this is when you really have to wtch them, cause they start getting into everuthing. Someone suggested once then start moving to lye down on the floor and look around, and see what is there and you will have a better idea of what they can reach, so as to prevent accidents. Does that make sense???????????????

We have been slack for a better term. BJ is still in our room  . By the time we both get home spend time with BJ do the whole bath feed and bed time routine, dinner is usually ready then I express and then allbtoh of us want to to cuddle up on the couch for a hour until its time for BJ's 9.00pm feed.

What time does Roxy have her last feed for the night???????? and how long does she slepp at night and during the day for that matter??????????

Hows BF going????? I am finding although I am expressign at work my supply is starting to dwindle . When I first went back to work I was easily manging 3 B/F feeds for him a day and now I am struggling to get 2. I think part is because he needs more, and part is because sometimes I just don't get a chance to express the second time at work. My body must think he doesn't need as much. I guess I should look at it as he was B?f for the first 4 months and that better than nothing right??? I don't know if I want to give up B/F. I love that time, it is something special that only he and I can do, nobody else.

Sorry about all the ????? and the :ecomcity:

Can't wait to talk again

Belinda

PS Thanks for the email.

hey

good to hear from you!
glad that everything is going well - looks like Bj is catching up to Roxy in weight  Lee is right thoughabout the car seat - when you first turn them around its a WHOLE NEW WORLD! they love it - roxy does fall alseep on occasions - but also takes to squeeling to get our attention

at this stage roxy is only rolling from back to tummy and will only roll left - its so cute - is bj rolling from tummy to back ?? I have a trick that you can practice with him to help him learn how to roll from back to tummy if you like....

speaking of going left - roxy REALLY favours her left hand ... i wonder if she is going to be a lefty hmmmmm

Roxy's last feed of the night is anywhere between 7:00-8:00pm (depending on HOW tired she is) she then sleeps from 7:30-8:30pm - till 5:00-7:30am So im getting a good run out of her - she has about 3 to 4 naps a day - and they can last anywhere from 40mins to 2 1/2hours - on average about and hour and a half, and on the days where she doesnt sleep enough during the day she has a late late afternoon nap at around 5ish for about 40mins to help push her through to the later part of the evening.make sense?

Breast feeding is going well still - I always wonder weather Im giving her enough milk (as feeds seem to be gettin quicker and quicker) but she seems satisfied and is still putting on the weight and the HCC are happy with her so I guess its all good. Im so proud of you beinda for breast feeding - there are so many women who dont and you have done a wonderful job - any time spent breast feeding is a wonderful acheivement, you should be proud of yourself - 4months is excellent! i know what you mean about that being special time though,

however you know what you're BJ's mum and NO ONE ELSE in the WHOLE WIDE WORLD can be that and that is so special and goes even deeper than the bond of breast feeding. You made him and he is a beautiful little boy :yelclap:

roxy is asleep at them moment so Im going to try to get some of the washing done - you know how it is

speak real soon
was great to hear from you

Hi

BJ does everything with his left hand too :p . Dad keeps saying he is going to be a lefty, but I don't thnik it is determind or set in stone at this age either. the only person in my family that is left handed is my yonger brother, so we will have to wait and see.

BJ is only rolling from tummy to back. he nearly rolled back to tummy today while he was playing under his A-frame. he is getting himself onto his side from his back, but hasn't quite gone all the way over it. It will happen soon enough though.

Roxy's routine does make sense. I uppped the amount in BJ botlles today and he has dropped a feed today, so we will see how we go tomorrow with B/F. Bj has a feed around 5 pm then usually is fast asleep, and he is now, but 6.30 at the lastest. I then still pcik him up and feed him at 9 -9.30pm and he goes through until any time after 4.30 am.

I don't miss having to do the washing it all. Mum does it all during the week , but even on the weekend I find that I am still doing at least 6 loads, mind you this includes sheets and towels. I guess no matter how hard you try you just can't exscape it :banghead:

Hope you have a good night.

Hi Jo

Your any wlcome anytime. Your little one is sooo cute.

Hi Brooke

Am home sick today Yippee. Yippe about being home for the day not being sick.

Things are good. And YES BJ is finally in his own room in his cot :smiliedance:. I know it took a while but we got there evenutally. He hasn't been sleeping well the last few days. I can't figure out if he is cutting teeth or if he is getting my cold . He's got a runny nose, coughing, sneezing, a temp and is very grumpy and out of sorts. We have been pumping him fully of panadol every 4 hours the lst days or so, and been giving him stuff for his gums just incase. I have a deocs appoint this afternoon to get a shooping cough injections, ao the doc will check him out for me while we are there.

He also loves his feet. he has just recently discovered he can put them in his mouth :devil6:. Oh and he loves to pull his socks off. He thinks it is hilariours when he finally gets them off.

Bj is still only rolling form tummy to back. He just about rolls for back to tummy, but he gets half way and rolls back.

We are still B/Fing. He is getting 4 B/f a day and 2 formulas a day. I have been really making the effort at work to express 3 times and it seems to of help. As long as we make it to 6 months I will be happy, anything more than that will be a bonus. How is B/f going with Roxy??????????

Well I hope you have a not so hectic weekend this weekend. Sorry to :ecomcity:.

Whoa, thanks ladies, your so nice.
I am still BFing Tahlia, I hopet o do it for as long as I can. I'm not heading back to work, wlthough sometimes I think maybe I should so money's not so tight but we are coping ok. I am selling the house I own in town and so have have one offer I am thinking aobut taking but will wait till tommorrow as there is someone else considering it. I only hope the offer I already have doesn't disappear....
Tahlia still doesn't sleep through the night, but she does only wake up twice for a feed so i guess thats ok. Plus she is growing up way too fast..... I would like her to be a little baby for longer but I ugess thats not going to happen.
She is rolling over non stop this week and just wants to move forwards, as in crawling but I think its too soon.
How do you cope with the care of your little ones when you go back to work?
Was it hard the first time, and does it get any easyer?
So many questions....... Sorry.
Well I should get some rest when Tahlia gose for her nap this afternoon as I am a little tired. Plus I think I ate too much and I am feeling bloated.

All I can say is thank god it is friday. Yeah no work for 2 whole days :smiliedance:.

Bj loves being in his room. He is sleeping better now that he seems to be getting over his cold. the last few night he has slept from 9.00 right through to 5.00am. i sort of feel human again.

The doctor gave me more medication to ry and get rid of the cough I now have, and that seems to be helping. Mind you I and mum had to get a whooping cough injection on wenesday so now my arm is killing :p. I can't win at the moment.

BJ moves around alot when on his back under his aframe. You put him in one position and look at him the next and he had done a 180 turn. He thinks it is hilarious the little bugger  . I don't think it will be long before he is constanly on the go. He is trying to comando crawl, or at leat that is what it looks like to me.

Jo - Returning to work wasn't a difficulty decsion for me, as finanically I couldn't afford to saty and keep our lifestyle. I was also going stir crazy. I didn't find it too difficulty but I am very lucky that my mum looks after BJ at our house evreyday, and have a great bunch of very close friends at work who are very supportive. I do have a desk full of photos of him though. I think if I had to have put him in day care or hated my job it would have been hard. going to work everyday just makes every other minute sooo much more special  .

Well hope you both have a good weekend.

Hi Brooke

Had a okay weekend, busy cleaning and entertaining SIL and BIL and thier 2 kids.

BJ still isn't 100%. He has a really runny nose, which in turn makes it hard for him to feed. We have bought some saline drops that up put up thier nose but I couldn't think of anything worse then having water suckup my nose. He hates it.

BJ and Nan were supposed to start swimming lessons today both both of them were up to it so next Monday. I am sure he will ove it :p.

I feel like the worst mum in the world at the momnet. this afternoon Bj was in his rocker muching on a rusk. He had dropped it between his legs, so I proceeded to pick itup for him and gave it to him. a few secs later I looked at him and he had somthine on his mouth. I though he had vomitted up some vegies form earlier, but it was......................................... POO. ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He had done a huge one and it had gone everywhere. Sorry if that was to much information. I don't hink he had much, but I feel so awful :crying:.

Apart from that had an okay day. I forgot the breat pump and sterilser this morning so had to come back home to get it, then got to work late, and went to express and realised I had forgotten part of the pump, so had to hand espress. God that hurts

Talking of expressing have to go and espress sohe has enough for tomorrow.

Have a good night

Belinda

PS BJ now wieghs 7.55kgs. We have book to have his car seat turned around on the 10.04., by the ambo's just so we know how it is done.

Welcome to the Bub Hub Club:kiss:

I got addicted by chance and have never looked back since. After having our daughter 2/12 years ago I find it fantastic to help people with advice. Listen to advice and have a shoulder to lean on. A few points you should know:

1) Bub Hub is addictive
2) Bub Hub is addictive
3) Did I mention Bub Hub is addictive

Hope you have fun. I am sure you will.:yelclap:

Hi Brooke

I don't lnow what to do, so I though I would ask you,a dn see what you think.

Here is the situation:

In the last week or so Bailey has started having what looks like seizures to me. Lee says I am being silly and that he is just trying to move aroung. I seems to happen quite regualry at different times each day, or not at all on some days. It can happen when he is sitting, standing, lying down it doesn'y seem to matter.

Basically what is happening is he seems to get a blank stare, the arms sometimes go out, and he wiggles from the waist. Thats the best way I can describe it anyway.

I don't know what to do. there is family history on my mums sdie of the family of epilepsy. Am i being silly?????????????????????????????????????????? Am I being parinoid??????????????????????????????????????????

I don't know what to do. He has a 6 month check up with the pead on the 10th April, and 6 month injections on the 31st of this month, if I remeber I will bring it up with them I guess. Should I go sooner?????????????????????????????? Do you think it coul dbe a sizure?????????????????????????????????

HELP I am sooooo worried about it, it's all I focus on when he starts doing it.

Thanks

Belinda

Hi Belinda

I hope you don't mind me butting in here. I was just reading your post and I think you should take Bailey to see a doctor. I think it's better to be safe than sorry especially with little babies!

By the way my name is Tiziana and my youngest son, Jaime was born the day after Bailey!

Anyway, I hope it's nothing. Good luck:fingerscrossed:

Hi All

Sorry about the stress attack.

Spoke to the GP today and she sadi take Bj to see the pead. He has an appoint on the 10.04. GP said it could just be a movement thing, in that he has just realised he can do it, or it sould be soemthing else. She can't be sure until unless she sees him doing it. I have an appoint with her on the 31.03 for BJ to have his needles, so we will talk more about it then.

Today he only did it twice so fingers crossed.

Thanks for the advice

Yeah to you Brooke. I'd loved to hear the details of the day. By the sounds of it you all had a wonderful time.

Yeah about the solids too :smiliedance:. What did you give her????? We are starting BJ this week on 2 solid meals a day. we gave him vegies tonight, and about 2 hours later he had a huge :barf: . I think this is beacuse he was a sleep and he sleeps on his tummy. He loves them too.

Jo - gave BJ a cold washer today he loved it. Sorry I can't be of any help with the teething, BJ is nearly there so will turn to you for advice when the time is really near.

Nan and Bj are off for there first swimming lesson tomorrow. I'm excited and am sure Bj will love it.

Well had better go and feed him, and get some shut eye, god nows work tomorrow ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have a good night

Hey girls

Well for some CRAZY reason roxy decided last night that it would be fun to wake up at 2am??? BUT she wasnt crying or anything NO she was LAUGHING and Talking!! after letting her carry on for about 30mins or so hoping she'd go back to sleep - I had to go in there and try to settle her - but once 'mean mummy' said it was time for SLEEPING not Playing Well, she got upset with me and started to cry!
then he didnt want to go down for about an hour (doh)
Anyhow thats life hey - I hope she doesnt do it again tonight :fingerscrossed:

so I 'forgot' to tell you - (Thats how BUSY Ive been) That I went for a job interview last wednesday. for Coles for a 5am-9am shift (mon-fri) for a bit of extra $$$ - Im waiting to hear back on it this week - its for a very basic shift and it just store presentation - you'd get assigned a few isles and have to tidy them up for the opening of the store, etc. If anything Im too overqualified for the job- but I hope they give it to me as it will be perfect hours and a'no-brainer' job where I can go in do my job and go home.

anyways Ive got to go and get ready we are going down to the clinic today for 'older-babies' mothers group

hope both your childern are well

Hugs*
Brooke :hugs:

sorry for butting in but i did a search on epilepsy and it came up with your posts. as an adult sufferer i thought i might be able to help. there are 2 types of seizures (well alot more but basically 2) grand mal (total fits ) or petit mals (partial fits. i have petit mals every day but they are still hard to explain. basically you go off and half your brain feels like every thing around you is not real the other half is telling you dont be stupid of course it is. i can carry on usually as normal during this depends on the severity. if bailey has a grand mal you will know it although my son has febral convulsions (fits when his temp rises and they are very much alike) very scary to see your son have those. as an adult you can be tested by an eeg which is simply putting things on your head and they use flashing lights etc to make you fit. i had 1 of those and it came back neg. few years later they did a sleep induced one where you dont sleep all of 1 night then do it, which resulted in my diagnosis. they obviously dont do this on kids as they too young. my son had eeg as he had multiple feb convulsions 1 night. with kids they put the things on their head (it dont hurt) and let them play while they monitor brain waves. i wish you all the best if you want to chat my email is suemp77@optusnet.com.au
cheers:kiss:

Hi

Bj had a cold about a week ago, the Doc said it was a virus and it would be fine after 2 or 3 days. it lasted a week. The worst part was the blocked nose. We tired using saline drops that the Dor reccommended, but BJ just screamed when it did it  , and the aperator never got anything out, so when only did it when he nose was really blocked.

BJ rolled off the couch yesterday, which I think scared mum more than anythomg. Doc gave him the all clear and he has a small bump on his head. It was bound to happen sooner or later :(.

I think he might be getting ready to cral. He keeps pushing himself onto hid hands and knees and bending up one leg, but that about it. Lee keeps encouraging him to crawl, and I keep saying to him once he crawls you will wish he hadn't.

Well that's all for now.

Catch up with you both on MSN.

Enjoy ur time away Brooke and Roxy and family. I', sure you will have heaps of fun.

Sorry to hear about Bj, Bel. I'm sure after his fall off the couch he is fine, would of been such a scare for you though. Yeah on the start of crawling. Tahlia did some commando crawling awhile ago now, but she has stopped that, must of been something she did wiht out relising other wise she might still be doing it.....

As with the stuffy nnose things, have you tried putting BM up their nose. ( for those who BF) It clears it up almost straight away, and helps them breath better. Tahlia getting stuffy noses on occasion but after a quick squirt of BM up her nose things come out and she can breath again. Its quite surprising what you can use BM for. It helps with their dry skin, and also my dry skin.....LOL it helped when she had conjunctivist, (sp?) just a bit in her bad eye and it cleared up after two days. :yelclap:

Today has been quite good, my head is still alittle sore from my ear ache, it is an infection but i am now on tablets to clear it up so hopefully it wont take too long and I will be able toget rid of this head ache that is happening with it. Off to the doctor again on thursday to check that everything is going great. lets hope so hey, :D

hey do you lt your kids type on the keyboard when they sit on your lap at the computer? Tahlia loves it. not sure what she is typing but sure its a book, and very interesting..........

Well catch ya on the MSN..... enjoy ur weekend. hugs to all :hugs:

Hi

Long time no chat. I though since niether of you were on MSN tonight I night post.

Had a big day to today. I am on easter holidays until next tues. Bj and I went swimming today. he loves the lessons until they start to count, as I think he has figured out it means he is going under. The minute the other count he starts to cry. Mummy had fun at her first swimming lesson though.

Laso had his car seat turned around today. He just fell a sleep. ithough he might of chatted my ear off, like Roxy did Brook. No such luck.

Also had pead appoint. everything is fine. Said he has a small case of rflux, but not to worry it will right itself asap. The shaking thing is quite normal, and has to do with an immature nervous system. aprt form that all is okay. on the 97th percintile for length and around the 5oth of weight and head circ. Oh he also said the change in sleep patterns are quite normal at this age, and it should get back to normal soon. When I aske when is soon, he said a few weeks. :fingerscrossed:

What else.

Oh mum bought him a jolly jumper, he thinks it is hilarious, and can't stop laughing once you put him in it.

We now sit up unsupported for a few minutes and is getting better at it each day. Still not rolling back to tummy, but has done it once or twice. I am sure I have bored you guys enough. Had better go and help Lee with the wahing up.

Take Care

Hi Guys

I was just going through the junk mail and saw that Big W have polar fleece sleeping bags on special 2 for $20.00, I was thinking of buying 2 for BJ, but have some ?????

Are the one you guys use polar fleece??
Are they short or long sleeved??? These ones are long sleeved.
What if anything do you put undertham at the moment??
Doyou put more clothes under them as it gets colder??? ie. a wondersuit
how do you tellid bub is getting to hot??????

I was thinking about getting him a couple of grobags, but there is no way i am spending $160 buck for 2, so an looking at cheper ones. Do they work in the same way.

Well I think that is enough for now.
