View Full Version : The F word on neighbours??
Hi all
when I was watching neighbours last night - I thought that I heard one of the characters drop the
f-bomb, I shrugged it off and thought that I must have miss heard it ....
however they mentioned it on the radio today, the announcer said that they recieved an email from some one saying they heard it too ...
did any one else hear it ... or know what was actually said
(it was in the bar and frazer was talking to will ... frazer called paul ... "Paul F_____king robinson" ???

it wasnt the big "F" word that you are all thinking about it was just plain old FREAKING! I didnt think there was anything wrong with that

I knew someone would post about this today because I thought the same thing!
I thought he did to while he was at the bar:eek: I knew I heard wrong but I also wondered if anyone else thought it sounded like that!!
I bet channel 10 got 50 million emails last night
I was bathing the little one and thought that I heard the "F Bomb" but there is no way that it could have been. I would say that freaking would have to be the more likely candidate.
I think Channel 10 are just pulling themselves together after the New Year's Eve (apparent) scandal so doubt they would push the boundaries on a show like Neighbours.

 I knew there had to be SOME explaination
I wasnt really paying attention when it was said and was possitive I miss-heard
I dont think there is anything wrong with freaking / friggen at all ...

I think it was the F word IMO it definitely did not sound like Freaking
I don't watch neighbours but it was on last night when I was cooking dinner and it didn't sound like freaking to me!!! I wasn't even paying attention to the show and still picked up on that word!
It is a big deal because kids watch that show and I don't want my DD running around saying it when she is older.

Yes It was Fricken that he said and I am a strong believer that people have a remote and dont have to watch it change the channel

But seriously...it's on at 6.30pm. Whatever happened to no swear words on tv until after 8.30pm?

Well, we didn't know it was going to happen so we couldn't have changed the channel in time.

if they put up a big "WARNING WARNING" in big flashing lights "THE F-WORD IS ABOUT TO BE SAID!" and then said it, I'd agree with you.
You wouldn't expect the clean cut residents on ramsey st to drop any swearies

Ooooh maaaa! I didnt see it but i think the script writers would not be silly enough to put the F word in their scripts....
IMO freakin, or friggen are not swear words.... :D

Wow I could have sworn he said f***ing... DP and I both looked at each other and said "HUH???"...
I guess even if he did say freaking, it's kind of clear that it's just a substitute, isn't it?
Lol, I am turning into my mother... I promise I don't care, I was just surprised...

Clean cut???!!!
That place is a veritable den of iniquity... they partner swap, cheat, lie, steal, kill, stalk, you name it...
Ramsey Street is a dangerous place folks...
Regardless of the fact the "freakin" or "friggen" arent swear words, i personally dont think they are appropriate for that time slot.
I know I wouldnt want my kids running around saying freakin this or friggin that.
After all friggin is just a subsitute for the real word.
It didnt bother me, but it would have if my son could talk and copy it. Im not prudish and swear myself but in the right situation. Not at 630 when were all sitting around watching TV.

I was just browsing the official Neighbours website and found this thread:
Last night in Australia a historic episode of "Neighbours" was screened (#5124 : "Elle and Sebastian" - it'll screen in the UK in about a month, no doubt re edited).
That's because a character distinctly said the F word!
(It was Fraser, in regards to Paul Robinson).
I rang the TV switchboard to confirm that they had been inundated with complaints and I wasn't hearing things.
(I have it recorded and it's still as clear as a bell).
How could this have happened without numerous post-production staff being in on the gag : are Grundy's staff trying to lose their jobs?
Interesting hey? I wish I had recorded it.

To be honest, it doesn't matter whether he did say it or not. Obviously enough adults believed they heard the "F" word, which means countless number of young children would have though they heard it to, so regardless if it was fricken, friggen etc. people hear what they hear and the damage is now done!

Let me get this right..
So people are happy for there kids to watch/lisen to/have on in the background (whatever) a show which includes a range of scenes such as girl-girl kiss, cheating partners, attempted murder, stealing, blackmail, threats, sleeping around, rebelious behavour etc etc etc (i could go on forever...)
But the "F word" (whether that be fricken, friggen, frecking, or f*cken etc) gets muttered and suddening its appauling and unacceptable...
I DO agree its not necessary but there are plenty of story lines that arent all that moral either and no one seems to whinge about there kids watching them...
Something to ponder... :detective:

Plus the f word and other rude words are heard in heaps of songs played at the moment on the radio or CDs....I had pink's CD on in the car and happened to have my neighbours 6 year old and 9 year old in the car...and then pink comes out with the f word....and the 9 year old says "oh , she said a rude word"...i was soooo :o  ...I just really hadn't thought about it.
