Okay, I'm researching cloth as I'm unimpressed with disposables.
So, what is your BEST cloth nappy? I'm after something that:
- is soft and comfortable
- is trim
- absorbs well
- is easy to wash
- is fairly quick drying
- doesn't smell after washing
- has a good life span
- preferably one size fits all
is this asking too much?
i LOVE babybeehinds :D Theyre a fitted so need a cover. Mine dont take too long to dry and are 1 size...Theres also greenkids if u'd prefer pockets (didnt work for us). Ummm cutetooshies is also another one size havent tried them though. I'd suggest getting trial packs of baby beehinds & greenkids and see which u prefer:thumbsup:

I've only tried 3 types so far and I love the bamboo Baby Beehinds one-size fitted...only prob it does take a little longer to dry, but not too bad. And I've tried a cuddlebuns one-size fitted which is also good and quick drying, but still prefer the first one better. I also have been using plain terry flats which have been great during the day at home:thumbsup:
Oh wow great list there.
I know most of our nappies fill at least half your criteria.
Baby Beehinds come close. Bamboo takes a while to dry though.
Pookey Pockets fills your criteria but is sized. It may be very difficult to find a nappy that is one sized and trim at the same time.

Tots Bots Bamboozles, size 2 (the front can be folded down to fit newborns) They do need a cover, but as with all fitteds, are best covered with woollies.
BAMBOOZLES!!!! :yelclap: I love bamboo :D
ETA
They are extremely trim, extremely absorbent, very very soft, they seem very very comfortable (no marks on bubbys body), easy to wash (well, all MCN are, except woollies, and even they aren't that difficult), don't smell after washing (I hang in the sun, perfect, sanitises and bleaches, and leaves them lovely - although sometimes a little stiff, but a quick whirl in the tumble dryer fixes that), Good life span (excellent quality) (FANTASTIC quality).
I'm with you The-Queen! LOVE bambooooooooo. I haven't tried the bamboozles as I'm addicted to the baby beehind ones.
I also love the Kissaluv fitted nappies. They're not bamboo, but they're super soft, well fitting, really absorbant teamed with a booster and they also come in great colours!

I have got a trial pack of cute tooshies which are 1 size fitted and I have 2 bummis covers for them.
Will see how I go with those, might try the baby beehinds aswell if it all works out ok.

your answer, i believe, lies in the sheer brilliance of the bumgenius
it's a pocket (so dries fast), has stretchy tabs with velcro so it fits SO well, and also fold-back tabs to fold the velcro onto when you wash it (so the velcro doesn't get caught on stuff), has an adjustable rise (the rise is from the top of the front to the top of the back) so it fits literally from newborn to toilet training. very trim, nice and soft, never had ONE leak with it, cool colours .... and only $26 for the nappy and insert is pretty darn good considering its a one-size!!!
well thats my 2c :)
bumGenius is a good one!
My only concern would be that it isn't as soft (but you can get bG bamboo now), and it has velcro and it gets tangled. But that is me being fussy.
Its basically an AIO in that its ready to go for $26 bargain. (pocket and insert)
Do you have the 2.0 version mama anne?

Thats a great list, why not get a few of each, and throw in some baby behind hemp cause they don't take as long to dry.
Speaking of bamboozles, I'm waiting on my first one, hopefully it will arrive today
I am IN LOVE with Baby BeeHinds bamboos
LOVE
LOVE
LOVE 'EM!!!
I only have 2 but I have another coming next week.!!!!:smiliedance:

there are three kinds of bumgenius:
a pocket
an aio
and a bamboo fitted.
i have the bumgenius pocket, version 1.0, but a friend of mine has both 1.0 and 2.0 and she says the 2.0 is even better than the 1.0 ....... and the 1.0's pretty darn good!
It has suedecloth on the inside, to me it is as soft as any other pocket. and the velcro thing - it has tabs on the inside of the nappy which the velcro fastens to when you wash it, so it doesn't get caught on anything.
the bamboo fitted and the aio would take awhile to dry i'd think ....... for me the bumgenius pocket is pretty much my best nappy for drying time, fit, trimness, ease of usage cause of velcro.
can you tell i love it and want more and more and more
Yeah sounds like you like the bG!!! I don't mind them but I prefer fitteds. (had the original) If you are a pocket fan they would be great.

Hi there
Thank you all for your responses. I'm in the process of researching all your favourites!
Most of you seem to prefer fitteds with a cover. Why are they better than pockets or AIOs?
Also, if you buy a fitted, do you need to buy a cover made by the same people who make the nappy? Is that the way to get the best leak-proof fit? I'm not too keen on wool covers as I am allergic to wool so am not keen to put DD in it.
Edited to add: Two more questions: how many covers do you need and do you all use liners?
Ta!

Hi
I am also researching cloth nappies as I am soon to have 2 in nappies and just can't stand wasting money on disposables (not too mention the environment)! So, I am very interested in all your replies to this thread!
This is my first post (woohoo!), and I just wanted to say how wonderful and helpful all you mums are!! Certainly makes this parenting thing a little easier.
Seems that Baby Beehinds and Greens are the favs, what sort of liners do you use? What do you use for wipes?
Thank you Bubhub Mums!!:)

Also, if you buy a fitted, do you need to buy a cover made by the same people who make the nappy? not at all. all covers will fit over any nappy Is that the way to get the best leak-proof fit? so long as its a well fitting cover it wont leak I'm not too keen on wool covers as I am allergic to wool so am not keen to put DD in it. go pul then. fleece may be better for nights though

Oops, knew I would forget to ask something....(so many things to find out!)
With the bbh and Greens being one size fits all, did you find they are too large for newborns?? Did you start using them from day one, or wait till bubs was a bit older?
Thanks!!

What about trying Itti Bitti's? You can get fitted or snap in AIO and I love these for their trimness, fast drying time and great customer service.

Itti Bitti's are great I hear, but I've been trying to get my hands on just one for months now, and no luck....
The Baby Beehind folds down to fit a newborn, and apparently fits great from birth. A Green Kid pocket [I]may fit a little better later on, although it is a one-size too...
You don't need many covers, just a few. And rotate them. Let one air out while you use another, and perhaps one another one in the wash. I have two and this works fine. But I don't use fitteds that often- I love my pockets for their colours, patterns and show-off-ability:laughing:
Popular PUL covers:
Bummis super whisper wrap
Tots Bots
Motherease Airflow
I still think that the best way to start off with cloth is to get a BB bamboo trial pack and a Green Kids trial pack and see if you are more taken by the pockets or fitteds
Good luck getting an itti. I have a fitted and its okay but I have other nappies I prefer. Haven't tried the snap in AIOs. But if you like AIOs and like trim then they may be the way to go. Again I say good luck.
I prefer fitteds because they are generally made from natural materials. PUL doesn't last long and I am not a fan of the material - I much prefer wool. My eldest son has severe eczema so that influences me. I knit with soft non irritating wools includng organic.
Also you have more protection with a fitted and cover. I have found PUL leaks whereas a wel lanolised wool cover won't. You don't need the smae brand nappies and covers. I use mostly my own soakers and I cant sew. :D
I use liners. Want to use fleece but bub has problems with it.

Thanks for the replys, this is all so confusing!
I think I will take your suggestion and get a BBH and Greens trial pack and see how I go with them, can try them on my big boy while waiting for bubs.
Not sure where to find Itti Bittis??
