Hi, my dp and i are considering moving to twmba (from bris). I havent lived there since '99 and then i was in yr 8 so my idea of what a place is like has obviously changed. We have only had a flying visit last year, but ive always thought i wouldnt mind moving back there and my best friend has been trying to convince me to go back since i left.

so anyway my questions are:
whats it like with kids?
are there any really dodgey areas where u wouldnt live?
what are child care places like? are they relatively easy to get into or would ds have to go on a long waiting list?
Is it hard to get into rentals? I noticed the rent is remarkably cheaper which we are all for!And there seemed to be a fair few in our price range, but i was just wondering if its hard to get into them, we had a lot of trouble getting a rental when we moved here.

I know some of these are all sorta dependant on what area we go to.

We will be making a few more visits in the earlier stages of this year no doubt so dp can get a better look around and see if he likes it. We dont really like it in Bris, we prefer more laid back places but need somewhere thats big enough to offer enough work.

My brains a bit scattered at the moment so sorry if it doesnt make much sense. But thanks for reading and any info you have would be greatly appreciated.

whats it like with kids? um, its alright, just try to get a good area
are there any really dodgey areas where u wouldnt live? I would avoid newtown, wine estate in wilsonton(anything with an alcohol name) and mort estate(close into town near the railway)harristown, alot of harlaxton. you really want to go to centenary heights or kearney springs, the other side of town(out towards k mart) that said, there are bad aspects of all areas
what are child care places like? are they relatively easy to get into or would ds have to go on a long waiting list? i would enquire about childcare, alot of places open up in the new year, but they fill quickly. we have been taken over by ABC too.

I moved up here from Brisbane (Manly) 18months ago. We have an acre at highfields. Great place 10km to Toowoomba. Defiantly more laid back, had no trouble renting, while we were building our house. I work as a teachers-aide and the schools are great, kids are nice. People say hello and good morning when you are out walking. Less humidity than Brisbane, just a nice place to be and bring up kids (we are trying for those now). Goodluck with your decision.

Some parts of Harristown are fine...my in-laws live close to the area where Westridge is and it's great and very nice! We are in Darling Heights and it's a good area too!

The Daycare that my DD goes to has openings at the moment! So no waiting list at the moment, he can go straight in. My DD loves it there and all the staff have been very nice and friendly!

I have always found renting easy. We have always got in to the houses we have wanted!

All the best!
