Hi,
My dd is due for her 4mth old needles! At her2mth old immunisations she had 3 needles, she cried her little heart out and was miserable for days! I cant remember it been 3 needles im pretty sure it was onlt 2 needles with my 1st dd back in 2003!!
So just a Q. Is it 3 needles again for the 4mth old ones??
TIA :)

My DD has had 2 needles for all her sets of shots so far - 2months, 4months, and 6 months. One in each thigh.
3 injects at 4mths but only 2 at the 6mth ones in Melb

damn! I was hoping it was only 2 this time!
Thankgod its only 2 at 6mth one!!
Anyone know why one of them has been made into a needle rather then orally(polio) i think??!!
my ds had
2 needles at 2 months
2 needles at 4 months
and each time he has had 1 needle on each thigh and he goes for hi 6 month needles 2morrow
Too bad we arent in NSW - 2 injects would be a lot better than 3:( It's 3 again at the 12mth ones also
In regards to polio vax being injection i just looked it up for you:)
The major disadvantage of the live-virus vaccine is that it can result in sporadic cases of polio either from the vaccine itself or from the circulation of the vaccine. There is neither risk from the killed-virus vaccine.
In the developed world, as the incidence of wild polio diminishes, nations transition from use of the oral vaccine back to the injected vaccine because the risk of iatrogenic polio outweighs the risk of subclinical transmission. In the United States the Centers for Disease Control decided this point was reached in 2000 and use of the live-virus vaccine was discontinued. In the UK the change occurred in 2005 and for convenience polio vaccine was combined with Tetanus toxoid and Diphtheria. In states with higher incidence and thus a different relative risk between efficacy and reversion, live vaccine is still used. The live virus also has stringent requirements for transport and storage, which are a problem in some areas.
