Im looking to buy some summer dresses, preferably shoe string not necessarily maternity wear as im just a size 16. Does anyone know of any places where i can get them at a decent price - ive looked at allot of local stores and i cant find anything like what im looking for. Just something i can wear during the day but not too casual... like a trip to the local shopping centre.
Anyone know of any?
Please help lol - ive had a belly spurt inthe last 4 days and cant fit ANYTHING in my wardrobe
I had exactly the same problem when I was pregnant. There was nothing in Melborne. I looked everywhere and gave up. i ended up sewing my first dress ever (and I can't sew to save myself) out of stretchy material and it looked great. If you know someone who sews, get a nice piece of material and go for it.

i totally forgot about making them myself - at least then i know what i want and i cant complain - and once you have the pattern its yours forever :D
Hi Mixi_Mama
I am not sure what type of stores you have where you are. But if you have them have you tried Millers or Best and Less usually they have light cotton dresses.

I gave up looking in disgust, and had some dresses made last time around.
They button down the front, and they tie up on the sides.
After last baby, I wore them for a few weeks - they were great for feeding, and tied right in at the sides, don't look like maternity wear. I'll do the same again this time.
I've looked again this time, and there are very few maternity dresses of any style out there.

Sometimes you can get REALLY lucky in those "Indian" type boutiques and find something that doesn't make you look like the circus is in town! I myself found a couple of suitable frocks for late maternity there...
There's one at the Logan Hyperdome, in the side mall where Medibank Private/MBF/Suncorp are located. Good luck to you! :)
I love summer dresses and I find op shops to be great for them.
Hi Mixi_Mama
I noticed you live on the south side of Brisbane.
There is a great maternity wear shop call Room 4 2 at Carindale shopping centre.
I bought most of my clothes here when I was pregnant. They can be a little expensive, but the clothes are things you could still wear even after you've had the bub. I believe they have the type of dresses you are looking for at the moment.
Also, I found Target and Kmart had some nice maternity clothing, and if you're ever in at Sothbank, there's a great shop called Egg Maternity.
Good luck!

.....and if you're ever in at Southbank, there's a great shop called Egg Maternity.
Good luck!
I didnt even realise Egg was at Southbank - i was just there on the weekend  Man talk about clueless lol -
Ill have a look - i went to spotlight and looked for some patterns - and they had NOTHING- even there maternity patterns looked like Potato sacks with holes in the sides  And the one pattern i found was 20 bucks and then i had to buy material, buttones, cotton etc... it didnt seem worth it in the end so i walked out with some new scrapbooking supplies instead.....
