Hey girls.......I need some advice, what do you think of giving a baby 2 middle names?
Our little girl is due tomorrow and we have decided on Ellie Marie as a definite (after my mum and sister) but I would also like Margaret after my grandmother who I have always been very close with.To be totally honest, I think my grandma would get a great 'kick' out of it and I would love to honour her in this way but don't want to drop the Marie........
Do you think it's too much? Honestly. Will she hate me when she gets older? haha

Hi Nara,
Kaiden has two middle names, Gordon after my grandad, who has been an absolute backbone in my life and also Reginald, after Dh's dad who passed away 8 years ago.
We hadn't planned on giving him two middle names, but we are really glad we did. The only problem we've had, is to get them both on the medicare card and his passport.
Good luck
ps I love the names you've picked out too :)

Nara,
I have 2 middle names, as do my brothers and my father. I've never hated it, if anything when I was little I felt quite proud to have more names than my friends, lol.
The only drawback is when filling out forms and there is only space for a single middle initial. So my medicare card and similar sometimes only have one initial.
Edit: double checked my passport after seeing the other posts, and mine has both my middle names. But it's canadian, perhaps Aus only has room for one.
I think its fine to have 2 middle names & it sound so nice. :) Good luck with evrything tomorrow WOW.

Looks like it's Ellie Marie Margaret after all!It doesn't sound TOO bad! :D
I suppose she can always drop the Margaret if she wants to later on....
Ha ha kimmy, I'm not holding my breath for her to come on due date.Although would be lovely!
MarthaM thanks for your input, it helps that you never hated having 2 middle names.
Ps- thanks spencersmum and kaidensmum, I haven't heard of any kids lately with 2 middle names, so it's good to hear people still do it.

My son Ryan has two middle names; Robert which is also his fathers middle name, but I wanted to honour my grandfathers memory so we added Edwin in there as well; Ryan Edwin Robert T***. We love it.
Good luck with the birth of your bub!!!! Congrats!

I like the name Ellie Marie Magaret its gorgeous. Theres nothing wrong with 2 middle names. Our son don't have a middle name its just Jayden-Robert but my nephews name is Dylan-John Edward Francis P****. Bit of a tongue twister.
Hope everything goes well tomorrow. Good Luck!

I think the name sounds lovely. I don't think 2 middle names is too much, especially when they sound so beautiful together! :)

My DD has two middle names. Ruby Judith Alona. Judith was a last minute choice as my mother's best friend who I had known for 20 years died 15 minutes after Ruby was born. And Alona after a very close friend.
And the bonus is that when she is older she will be able to tell what level of trouble she is in if you use her entire name!

Thanks everyone for saying you like the name! I've been freaking out a bit because we've had Ellie picked for months but didn't want to tell to many people, hmm people can't say they hate it if you've already named her!
LOL Chellegoth, very true!Gives me more to yell out!
It's also great to hear all the stories of where the middle names come from.I'm very into using a family/special meaning name (ha ha or in this case names!) for a child's middle name!
Hi my first born has two names Blake Grant (after his father) Robert (after both Grandparents). So we pleased both Grandparents. My second child has only one middle name Brodie James.

Good luck...you must be so excited! :)

My parents had the same dilema (spelt wrong I know) with me. They wanted Maree and Toni so they officially called me First Name: Donna-Maree Middle Name: Toni.
I think Ellie-Marie as a hyphernated (again wrong spelling I think) name could be nice.
Ellie-Marie Margaret then everyone is happy.
Btw my family shorten my first name to Donna so if you don't want to say Ellie-Marie all the time you can still shorten it to your original choice of Ellie
good luck and hope she makes an appearance soon - keep us posted :)

My Goddaughter has two middle names...
Grace Carole Louisa
I think it's lovely!
Carole was after one of her grandmothers. Louisa is her other grandmother's middle name (her first name is Winifred!) - that just didn't go!

My sisters name is Coral-Lee but she has decided to drop the -Lee and use it as a middle name only. So now her name is just Coral or Coz is what she uses most of the time.
My MIL has 2 little girls (try explaining to my eldest why he is older  )
and they have 2 middle names for the same reason as described, if they dont want to use them both they then have the option to drop one..
My personal opinion is that names are gifts that our parents have bestolled (spelling) upon us, and they are very unique and special.
My first name is Petara, and that is my parents put together; Pet from Peter my dad and ara from Barbara my mum, and I have NEVER known anyone else to have the same name as me. :p
So it doesn't really matter if your child has 1, 2, or more names the fact that you chose it is meaning enough..
Just a thought.... ;)

Hehe good one chelle! So true because I'm an expert of being yelled out in full name whenever I did terrible things! LOL
I think 2 middles names are alright, Joshua myself and Thomas all have 2 middle names...and they sound so lovely to me :D

Thankyou all for replying! As I said, I haven't really heard of many people having two middle names lately, so it's great hearing from everyone who have given their children 2!
To be honest I'm still liking Ellie-Marie as a first name and DH says he doesn't care either way!So we will see what happens if she ever decides, she doesn't like my uterus!!
I'm due to be induced this Tuesday but would much prefer if she came out on her own!
Anyway thanks again everyone
Hi Nara,
I love the name combination. I have two middle names and I am no worse off for it. When it comes to legal documentation or ID, I just drop the second name off if I have to - no biggy. I think it's great to honour our elders, very admirable.

But I vote for Marie Margaret. Excellent choice and combo! :)

I think it is lovley that you are thinking of naming her after your family members and don't think 2 middle names is too much.
