Hi, I've had the blood test, and am having the ultrasound next weekend, but am just wondering when you get the results. Does the doctor tell you straight away when he does the ultrasound, or do i have to wait until my next obs visit??
Thanks! Just very anxious to start telling people we're pregnant, have already waited so long!

I was actually given the results of the ultrasound straight away then they said that I'd receive a call in the next 2 days to compare the blood test results with the scan.

Hi!
I went for the blood tests 10 days before the ultrasound, then had the scan, then hasd to wait for an hour outside while they sent the results to the lab and combined them with the blood results. Whilst doing the scan the sonographer showed me the skin fold and said it was 'normal, very good etc'.
I was lucky and had booked my obs appointment an hour and a half after the scan (both in the same hospital building) so the obs explained everything to me then and there.
Good luck:fingerscrossed:

 I'm a little confused... why do you need the results first before telling ppl you are pregnant. You seen the heartbeat, seen bub moving etc,
They will either give you results while you are there or shortly afterwards.

Why wait until the results? I imagine it is because if the NT test showed a bad abnormality they might choose to terminate, and it would be easier if they hadn't told anyone they were pregnant yet.

Maybe she hasn't had an ultrasound at all yet.

The sonographer gave us the results after the scan. With DD i didn't have the bloods and this time with DS my doc ordered the wrong bloods so i just had the scan.

Oh and your baby is due on my DD's birthday. Good Luck!

The specialist ultrasound Ob who did my NT scan scurried off to a computer with a specific program on it in the office, and came back 5 minutes later with the result.

WHAT?!
hmmm, i don't like the sound of that.
My DD1 has Down syndrome, I find that quite offensive.

Without turning this into a debate......
The decision to terminate a pregnancy is a very personnal one and you shouldn't feel offended as that was your choice with your child. As it is if any of us decided not to keep a baby due to any circumstances. It's not nice to judge:no:

I didn't say I would terminate, but that it was a possible reason for people to wait until they had the results before announcing their pregnancy.

Not sure how that offended you.

Certainly wasn't giving any opinion about whether anyone should terminate.

I got the results then and there whilst still laying on the bed.
Just make sure you have your BT a few days before the scan so they can make sure they have the results back.

They will then send a copy of the report to your doc also.

It offend me for the reason above, as I said DD1 has d/s and for someone to say that they would terminate or even suggest they may because of that reason. :crying:
Anyone interested should read this thread.

Exactly, we should be supportive of each other and not bring personal beliefs into this as its just too personal.

1) I was NOT making the decision for her, nor saying what she should do, just stating it offended ME!

2) You refer to ppl with d/s not having alot of skills... this is why I posted the link above... this explains A LOT if you simply took the time to read it.

3)I do not want nor need to be commended for raising my child. I just do what every other mother out there would do and LOVE my child and do what is best for her.

I am not judging anone here, simply stating that it offended me and was merely offering information on Down Syndrome. If anyone DID actually take the time to read through the thread they would see that it is not the pathetic picture society paints, but a positive one.
