View Full Version : Baby Shower questions
I am throwing a baby shower for a friend soon and they just found out the sex of the baby.
They have decided not to tell people and to keep it a secret until the baby is born.
Also have only been to baby showers where the couple knew the sex of the baby so this is throwing me off a bit.
Any advice on this?

I wouldn't ask about the sex. If they want it to be secret I would respect their wishes.
Their are lots of things you can do at a shower that doesn't require knowing the sex.
At some of the ones I have hosted I have bought a stack of white singlets in various sizes & got each guest to decorate one with fabric paint. It has always been a hit and a lot of fun!!

I think you've answered your own question here! To go against your friends wishes would be wrong.... There are heaps of other things you can do; including 'guess the sex' games!

If they dont want anyone to know the sex, I say keep it a secret!
There are other ways of organising the baby shower that arent around the sex of the baby.
Use greens and yellows for decorations and play games that have nothing to do with the sex.

Hi:wave:
When I organised my SIL baby shower I didn't know that sex of the baby so I used both blue & pink with the decorations & I made little blue & pink iced mini cupcakes.

PS I love the singlet idea, I'm going to hint that I wouldn't mind having this at my baby shower:thumbsup:
We didnt know the sex of our first baby so for my baby shower everyone had to make a guess when they got there as to what I was having......and took a lolly dummy - you know those big dummy lollipops, to wear around their necks - either on a blue ribbon if they thought boy and pink ribbon for a girl guess. Then for each game we kept a tally - if someone from blue won it was 5 points to boys and the same for girls....some games were team games so it was either boys or girls who won overall. At the end we counted up the scores and said that whichever team won was what I was going to have (obv this was not based on anything but fun and silliness !) - but as it turned out the girls won and thats what I had !
It wasnt necessary to do this, you could just plan the lot without really having to know the sex....and do lots of pink and blue everything....but it was just a fun idea that made the anticipation more exciting.

thats a great idea mumbub2!
Dedrei I don't think there are many games that you need to know the sex of the baby to play them.
