Hi all,
my partner and I might be moving to brisbane in January and we like the redcliffe area. close to the city, really close to the beach.
I was wondering if anyone is from around there and could tell me a bit about it??
we only had 2 days up there to check out areas so it was bit rushed. I'd really apprecitate any info
thanks!! :)

Redcliffe is just beautiful, bit more prices than other areas around it though.
It has it's own man made beach (Settlement Cove) which is great to swim in all year round, it has it's own lifeguards too making it safer.
There is a real cafe culture on the main street at Redcliffe which can be seen most weekend mornings by people having breakfast out on the pavements outside the cafes.
I love it, we live about 15 minutes drive away.
The only thing (downside) I would say is it doesn't have a train line, the nearest one is Petrie which is about a 15 minute drive (plus depending on the traffic) or there is another station on the Sandgate line which is about the same distance away (I believe). They do have buses which will take you to the stations, but if you're looking at working in the city make sure you have your own transport and be prepared to add this additional time onto your travelling time each day.
Apart from that it's wonderful, if only I would afford to buy there, right on the beach etc, and it's got the best fish n chips in the world really close at Morgans!!!!
Hi there,
We have moved to Australia from the UK and after living near Brisbane city for 9 months we always came to Redcliffe for the weekend to be by the sea. When I fell pregnant we knew that we had to look to live on the Peninsula for its fresh air and relaxed feel. The people are very friendly and have time to have a chat.
Well we have been here for 3 months now and it is great. For the last 6 weeks of my pregnancy I commuted to the city on the 315 bus which took 45 minutes; ideal time to read a book or chill out. The 315 only runs to the city Mon- Fri. You can also get the bus to nearby Westfield at North Lakes where there are all the big shops. Journey to the airport is only 25 minutes and about 30 minutes by car to the city.
Redcliffe Hospital is older in fashion compared to the Royal Womens (where I was previously for antenatal care - but moving to Redcliffe it made sence to change). The Maternity ward is well equipped, clean and the staff are very supportive and friendly. As I write Im 3 days overdue!
The beaches are great and the lagoon is fantastic, and yes it does have a great cafe culture. There are good little restaurants to eat in like Marcellos Italian, very friendly and reasonable. There is an RSL, Leauges club for nights out and Lions Market on a Sunday for cheap veggies, plants and car booty items. There is a good veggie shop in the town lots of independent butchers and Morgans for fresh fish. Coles is the only supermakret in Redcliffe but there is a Woolworths in Margate in an airconditioned Mall with other shops.
Loads of day care, pre schools, schools and activities. Redcliffe is definetely on the up as the Council are spending alot of money on its development. Scarborough is really nice too, we spend alot of time on the beaches there and Margate beach is lovely. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend it to you. Our relatives that have visited us here have loved it too for its relaxed feel.
All the best with your decision.
thank you allison and shelly!!!

Hello faery,
I live near redcliffe in woody point and can say it is a great area for the children with the lagoon and parks. Has a really nice family feel about it and you see many people walking their dogs playing with their kids at the park and having picnics and swimmin about great place. Good luck with the move.

I just came across this thread and is great to read real information about the area. I am also moving to Redcliffe soon - I am booked into stay at www.lavidaonanzac.com.au whilst I look for a new home. I look forward to getting in touch with the Redcliffe mums when I get there.
I love Redcliffe. We're not there anymore, but my partner lived there his whole life & we go back whenever we can. Between 2004-2006 I lived in Margate, Scarborough, Sutton St & Kipparing. I loved Scarborough the most, lived right near the water.
