I just got offered a job and really do need to take it but also just found out i am 2 months pregnant, any suggestions on what to do :confused:

Take the job and tell them when you reach the 12 week mark - make out that you didnt already know.

Then again you could always tell them and then if they say you no longer have the job, thats discrimination and you could "go them" for it.

Just bear in mind, that even if you don't tell them til after you've started, while they can't sack you for it (depending on whether you sign an empolyment agreement, and depending on what that contains), when the time comes you will not be entitled to maternity leave as you will have been employed with them for less than 12 months (the norm for mat. leave).

This means that the chances are even if they do keep you on once you tell them you are pregnant, they have no obligation to hold your position once you take leave and I'd suggest you would be replaced immediately.

Also, if you tell them before you have officially started working for them, and they change their minds about giving you the job, you would have no comeback. They would simply say that as they are looking for a long term, permanent employee you do not meet their requirements.

Just make sure you have past your trial period before they sack you. During a trial period they dont need to provide a reason to sack you.... but to be honest if an employer really wants to get rid of you it isnt difficult and all managers know these tricks.

I can appreciate where you are coming from and your possible concerns.
I would not tell them until the 13 weeks is up and you are all clear.
I took up a new job in early 2005 and in the interview we even discussed things like babies and what my career plans were etc.
LOL I was specific that I had a 5 year plan...ofcourse that went out the window and only weeks into the job I found out I was pregnant. I had not passed the 3 months probation period but I didnt say anything until the 13th week.
I am happy to say that my employer was very supportive and I still have my job now.
