View Full Version : Kooky Breastfeeding Positions
Had a great laugh as it was hot today so Cobey, Chris and I all had a coolish bath together. :D
Cobey likes to stand a lot and the bath is a nice place for him to practise this, he wanted to turn around.. so I let him turn around and all of a sudden his mouth gaped open and "CRASH" straight onto my boob.. where he stood in the bath between my crossed-legs, hands on either side of the boob, chowing down like it was no-one's business.
Chris had a great laugh "Did he seriously do that himself?" "Err... yes."
A few times I've done some other crazy positions with him, he wanted to play in the Ikea parent's room so I held him upside down (another favourite position) and when he latched after giggling I put him the right way ... I'd love to know what the people passing by the glass door thought :p
Has your bubby breastfed in any strange positions? :D
Not as crazy as that ! Wow what a clever boy. My kids have always enjoyed climbing over me as babies and snuffling a feed. And having a shower ith a bub always seems to result in a feed as they croock their necs down to reach!

My little man is so on the verge of starting to walk and loves to show us how he can stand independently. The effect during feeding is that he is sitting up, turning around and even shuffling his way off my lap and off the chair to standing on the floor (all with nipple firmly locked in mouth). Its like feeding/ arm wrestling a crocodile. :p Very funny at first, frustrating after a few weeks and just a little embarrassing in a crowded parents room or in public place but all part of the fun of BFing :D It makes a nice change from his old favourite feeding position .....sticking his fingers up my nose :laughing:

Sadly, my Hamish only feeds lying down beside me. Whenever I have offered him a breast sitting up or while he is sitting/standing, he laughs at me and then tries to bite my nipple! He thinks it's sooo funny to do this. His booby time is now only at night-he won't feed during the day anymore:crying: but 3-4 times/night including evening and wake-up is keeping us both happy.

Liams also a see boob - crash down kinda guy.
His fave position atm is to lie across my chest, and the weirdest would have to be when I'm feeding Liam and the phone rings - as I run out to answer it topless, he latches on and sucks happily.
He was crying and fussing on and not latching in his usual carefree (greedy) manner so I just left my top up, lay down on the bed, put him on my tummy with his face up next to mine to give him a telling off. He wriggled down and latched on from that position.
This was all good and well except big boobs, sleepy baby, awkward position of nostrils.
Hilarious - I can just imagine the bubbas now!
Reidy - I know those positions well too.!!! The squirm about one! Yeah not too fun in public!
Av loves to lay down for a feed then sit up to take the other side.

Today i was feeding him in the usual position and he didnt want it so i sat him up boob still hanging out and he put his head down and latched on.Had a good feed,came off grabbed boob started talking to boob a few more sucks more conversation with boob and so on you get the picture LOL.

Aah yes. was feeding Cobey on Saturday and had my honeyboy on the line on the veranda and... IT STARTED TO RAIN! So I leapt up, ran outside, unpegged the nappy, ran back inside, sat down... and Cobey didn't once let go... silly moo.

Shine is very much an "extreme boob" kinda girl. She's also quite partial to a bath booby. I have had her over my shoulder with her head upside down and she spotted boobies (I had no shirt on) and she latched on and happily fed like that. She's a nutjob!. When she was a tiny newborn, my husband and I had to pick my brother up from the airport - about an hours drive normally but we were heading back at peak hour so double that time. Shine decided that she was desperate for a booby and was screaming her head off and informing all that if she didn't have a booby immediately, she'd surely die. So I climbed into the back, sat next to her car seat, twisted around in a bizarre and back-breaking position and breastfed her in a moving vehicle.
Her favourite postion now that annoys the absolute cr@p outta me is straddling my lap so that she can cling to the spare boob while feeding on the other and then swap sides about 50 times per feed.
She's an addict, I tells ya! She needs a support group and an addiction counsellor.

Asher has recently starting not talking TO the boob but talking ON it. It's all very heavy vowel noises, too, like "ooooooeeeeeeooooooo". It feels like he's trying to blow me up or something.

This morning I woke up to my bub (6.5 months), who had crawled on top of my tummy/chest, laying flat on my chest and sucking away. It was weird! And her face was all smooshed ino my breast, I'm suprised she could breathe!!!

This is how Summer has always been. As soon as she sees any signs of boobie her mouth is open & ready :yes:
Haven't had any really weird posititons, but my DS would always nurse with his hand in my mouth, from about 5mths, it drove me balmy. Whichever hand was free, he would stick in my mouth, pull on my lips, teeth, whatever. Thankfully DD shows no signs of that, but she is a squirmy, her free arm is always flittin about sigh!

My daughter loved bath booby, also loved a good chat to the boob. Unfortunately weaned her about 6 months :(. Now the fun position is having bub on the boob and sophie in my lap having a bottle, now that gets interesting lol.
