Hi,

MY DS is 12weeks old and he has a very sore red rash or skin irritation between & in the folds around his neck..!!! My sister in law said to apply powder and make sure that I dry the area after each bath (which I always do)...It is still really bad, it started bleeding this morning after I gave him a bath so I applied Bepathen cream????? What do you suggest? I am taking him to the doctors tomorrow but was hoping for some help or suggestions today in the mean time. ( DS is a bit rolly pooly in that area and takes after him mum with his double chin!!!)

Thanks
Linz

My DS had that once. I used Amolin cream lathered quite thickly in the fold. By morning it was almost completely healed.

I then went to extra lengths to make sure I always dried that area properly after his bath and we never saw it again.

Is its Amolin nappy rash cream? I saw that at the chemist today. I will give anything a go to help sooth it.

PS :::( can you tell me how I insert a picture of my DS like you have) I am new to this site...:D

Thanks
LInz

It is the Amolin Nappy Cream - yes. I'm pretty sure you can get it in the chemist or the supermarket. It's often overlooked but both times my boy had nappy rash, it cleared it up overnight as well.

Be very very careful using something that you haven't put on his skin before, especially if the skin is broken. DS had this same prob, was moisture related, but I found bepanthen was good, you wont find an instant cure if the skin is that bad. DS had a very bad reaction to Amolin, I only used it once on his bum and the poor little tyke had a really severe rash from it, he hasn't had a prob with bepanthen - which is an antiseptic and also great for mozzie bites (stops itch and reduces bite mark). Anyway, if you are going to use something you haven't used before please, please test it on his arm or leg first and leave it for a few hours to make sure he doesn't have a reaction. Because if he does react, it will make his neck much, much worse and you probably won't get any sleep tonight. Good Luck, I hope it gets better really soon.

Chloe has this problem too, it usually occurs when she sweats a lot, after a hot day, or milk falling under the neck folds.

lauren-karnifool- recommended we use the curash powder- :D  Good suggestion too, as it works like a charm!

(hehe Know what you mean about the double chin- *points at her daddy* lol)

I found that the curash barrier cream is excellent, even helps excema more than most other stuff.

Yep definitely grab yourself some Curash powder. After baths pat it softly with a towel then shake a little on your hand, lift up your DS's chin (or chins hehe) and rub it in. It won't hurt him.

Dakota had the same thing under her chin and under her arm pitts, it was oozing and smelt horrible. So i chanced putting Curash power on it 3 times a day and by day 2 it was completely gone. I still do it after her baths and she's 7.5 months. I just don't want her to get it back.
