I have decided to take DS swimming, he's 14 weeks, so very much in need of nappies, i looked in target today but the 000 swimmers will never cover his nappy.
What am I missing? and how did other people find it in the pool with their little people.

You don't need it to cover the nappy, it only has to contain poos  Any absorbent part of the nappy would be saturated with water as soon as he got wet so would be no use at all and would weigh a ton. If you're going to a pool the chemicals/salt take care of the urine, you just don't want any floaters
Have fun!
i wouldnt take a baby that young into a chlorinated pool myself because of all the chemicals in the water but i think the beach is excellent.
we took DS to the beach when he was about 12 weeks old. and he has also been to the beach recently.
we just take him in without his nappy and a pair of speedos but bare bottom is fine if he cant fit into speedos just yet.
if he does a poo you could pick it up with one of those a plastic bag and dispose of later. its the beach. it wouldnt matter if he pees or anything.
i suppose those swimmer nappies they sell in woolies etc wouldnt fit your bub yet....
I was concerned taking my 2 month old to a chlorinated pool as well as she has sensitive skin and I would have loved to take her to the beach, but I'm petrified of sharks and too worried about her getting burnt to take her to the beach! We were only in the water for a couple of short bursts (too young to tolerate anything for too long) and she was fine. Actually she loved it! I just made sure I gave her a good rinse under the shower after getting out of the pool and then a bath in the evening.

yeah.. i did use the huggies swimmers when i took them to the pool, but i didnt bother for the beach, it didnt matter! just washed there swimmers out when we got home.
i found the huggies swimmers great for the pool...just used normal togs when at the bech...i tend to worry a bit about chemicals expecially in public pools...not so sure...
The huggies swimmers are great. We started "swim" classes at sixteen weeks and have had no trouble with the chlorine, mind you it is only 30min a week, he loves it!

dp dresses ds1 for swimming  ds1 wears a swim nappy (huggies till we buy some re-ussables) and he has his speedos over the top (so he matches according to dp lol) dp is convinced if the nappy misses some the speedos will catch it lol
that being said atm my ds's wear the same size swim nappies lol but ds2 isnt really a swimmer coz he is so young
We have a few swim nappies. They have mesh to contain the poo. We went to the beach last week and bub was in swimmers (no nappy) and he had a messy one and no nappy was going to contain that...

lol
We use huggies ATM but I saw K Mart stocks Fluffies brand cloth swim nappies for $10 they are basically as Kymmy said speedo material on outside and mesh on inside. Good value considering a packet of huggies (10 nappies) would cost you that!

Cherubskiss sells swim nappies.
Or you could try a Green kids nappy without the insert. One of these for swimming would last all the way till they are toilet trained.

Cherub's kiss sell... GORGEOUS SWIM NAPPIES (http://flickr.com/photos/nikki_m/355526115/)!!! and they don't sag from soaking up the water like the huggies ones.
As many have said, swim nappies are just poo catchers :) make sure it doesn't float off :p
